What a Moving Book!
As a Native American this was moving and I felt was written with care. I was moved by so many parts of this story.
Each author took on a different Generation and together they seamlessly became one book. Each Generation had a strong female character. Generationally the family had strong moral character and faith in God.
I already keep up on Mary Connealy and Kimberley Woodhouse books and will now search out books by D.J. Gudger and Becca Witham.
I received a complimentary ARC of this book from NetGalley on behalf of the Publisher and was under no obligation to post a favorable review.

This was a fun collection. I'm used to these collections being similar styles, but not all connected as this one was. I enjoyed reading the stories of the different generations of families on the Rocking K Ranch. It was fun the different aspects that really showcased the history of the area. Some stories were better than others, but I enjoyed the collection as a whole.

Novella compilations as a rule are great opportunities to get to know new authors, relatively fast to finish and generally light-hearted, I absolutely loved this little collection because unlike many collections which follow a theme or sometimes an object as it passes along from story to story, this one is based on generations of women who all find themselves settling at Rocking K Ranch. The story begins with the great-granddaughter of the Rocking K Ranch's founder coming home to document the life stories of her female ancestors as she is looking to publish stories about the American West. Each new author takes a generation of the women for her own story and takes the reader on a unique experience through time leading up to the final story--which is about the author.
Filled with sweet romantic tropes and likeably flawed women who eventually find her own strength, this is a great collection to add to your 'to be read' pile.

I loved reading this book! Having said that, this book with it's four stories that intertwined with each other was so captivating from the start and was a real page turner for me. I enjoyed how each of the authors were able to write their stories and were capable of combining them together to make all four of them engrossing to read. The journey out west that these characters experienced on and off the wagon train is an inspiration to us all. This book is an eye-opener to some of the things that the pioneers and the Native Americans must have endured during that time period. If you enjoy reading stories that are full of love and the bonding between families from different generations, then you will also take delight in this book!
*Thank you to NetGalley & Barbour Publishing for an eBook copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion/review of this book!

With a cohesive, multi-generational storyline guiding readers through the states, struggles, challenges and triumphs of the family, Legacy provides an enjoyable experience.
One common thread is the beauty within wrapped by determination of these strong women of each generation. Their stories are complex and satisfying.
I received a complimentary copy of the book without obligation. This review is my opinion.

Perfect for lovers of sweet Christian romances! I love reading stories about families, and the style of this one felt so unique since it combined novellas from different writers to tell the story of 4 generations. The story line started with the current generation in Penelope, then went back to her great grandparents, grandparents and then parents, then finished with how her story ended. Each novella did a great job of setting up each character and storyline. Definitely recommend to anyone who enjoys clean, Western love stories. I enjoyed it from start to finish!

The Legacy of the Rocking K Ranch by Mary Connealy; D.J. Gudger; Becca Whitham; Kimberley Woodhouse is a
5 stars book.
I am looking forward to reading more books by these authors.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
If you enjoy historical books with romance and faith you will like these stories.

A series of four novellas that tell of Penelope Cooper's family. It truly is a legacy of love, loss, and grace. My favorite story is Eleanor's with Ray "Wildcat" Manning but all of them have wonderful characters and the stories are told very well. The book starts in 1910 with Penelope wanting to get her western stories published but no one wants to publish a female author. It then goes back to 1850 telling the story of her great-grandma and then proceeds through the generations with her grandma and her mom's stories and then ends with hers. My favorite part was in Penelope's story where she meets with all three women so they can pray over her situation. i loved that message of faith and family, what a legacy.

ELEANOR BY MARY CONNEALY
Marriage of Convenience; Opposite Attract; Widowed FMC; Half Indian MMC. Forced Proximity. Closed Door. Wagon Trains
It was a nice and easy read. I loved the characters and how they found strength with each other. The book was short, but I was still able to fully know and understand the characters. The book was very good and I'd recommend it.

GRACE BY D.J GUDGER
Closed Door Romance, Scarred FMC; Soldier MMC; Marriage of Convenience; Found a Native American orphan
I was eager to read Grace's story after finishing Eleanor’s because of her complications from the small pox. The book was good, going difficult topics such as racism and non-acceptance of Grace because of her scars. Captain Winfield was a good character, but I was annoyed at his discrimination against the Native Americans, I get that they killed his soldiers, but the American soldiers also killed the NAs. But, I'm glad he got over his fear and discrimination of Indians. Grace grew up well, I admire her guardianship of Little Raymond. Very good. I enjoyed reading her story

CAROLINE BY BECCA WHITHAM
Cross Class Lovers, forced Proximity, the Dawes Act, Forbidden Romance
This was my favorite, I loved the Forbidden Romance trope and the precarious political situation. I loved Caroline had people in her life to give her realistic advices as to how it would be like marrying a Native American man during those time. I also liked and understood Raymond. He had a lot of anger, understandably, considering what he had gone through. All in all, it was a wonderful book

PENELOPE BY KIMBERLEY WOODHOUSE
Writer fmc, Photographer mmc, Forced Proximity.
A perfect conclusion to the stories of the women of Rocking K Ranch. I liked this just as I liked the previous ones. I loved reading about the previous characters and how well they've adapted to their lives in Wyoming. I liked Penelope and Jason's relationship. Jason's love for Wyoming. It was very good.

This is my first read of 2024. What a read it was! I must admit to liking the first 2 stories best but the whole thing was excellent. I love stories of strong families and boy was this what I like. I loved Ellie & Wildcat's story. At first I wasn't too sure about Wildcat, but he was such a gentle giant in many ways. He was so loving and caring. They really went through a lot together, even before they got married. The other stories were of other family members. Each different but obviously the family connection was there for each. There was also a strong faith element, which I think is paramount in Christian Fiction novels. I like to learn something from the books I read. How God can lead, guide us. Also books that remind us to keep trusting God with our futures etc.
I was dithering between 4.5 or 5 stars, as I did get confused at the start of the last 2 stories, but I soon picked it up again. This book kept me reading to see what happened. A lovely ending. I do feel like it could have just gone on and on, adding family members! I think the different Authors did a good job. I don't usually like anthologies to be honest, but thought I'd try this as I had a copy from netgalley. I was pleasantly surprised how much I did enjoy this. Cowboy stories are usually not my thing. This review is all my own thoughts.

I absolutely loved this collection! This was an epic story of faith, love, and family in a beautiful Wyoming setting. The characters were well-developed and I truly loved them all. This truly felt like one story even though it was written by 4 authors. It was so well-written and well-done. I would love to see more anthologies like this one. Highly highly recommend!!
I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I loved this book! There are four stories that are tied together by God, family, and a beautiful ranch. I love historical fiction. This book did a wonderful job of following this family through life.

I always enjoy reading these books with 3 or 4 short stories. This one is set in Wyoming. The stories are written by different authors and take place in different years. I like that each stories title is the name of the main character. The stories themselves are easy to read. They may be shorter than a typical book, but the characters were all well developed and the stories well written. I usually can pick a favorite, but I enjoyed each of these equally. Good read if you enjoy Christian western fiction.

The Legacy of the Rocking K Ranch is a beautiful collection of novellas by 4 talented authors. I loved each story, which follow 4 generations of one family. The themes of love, family, forgiveness; trusting in God’s will, direction and faithfulness were so powerful, pulling at the heartstrings. If you love tales of 1800s America, these stories will endear themselves to you.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher. The opinions expressed are completely my own.

Sometimes when you read an anthology you find that not all of the stories in them are ones you liked. But, I loved every one of them and the authors did a fabulous job of making each story connect to the other. I felt that one story flowed into the next and the last story of Penelope brought the stories full circle.
Each story had courageous women and men who persevered in the face of adversity. They did that by trusting God and seeing beyond the outward appearance of people regardless of deformities or skin color. The love stories were well ones that I would reread. I heartily recommend readers to choose this book for your reading pleasure.
I received a copy of this book through NetGalley. I was not required to write a positive review. All opinions are my own.

I enjoyed watching each generation find love and how important that legacy was for them. The importance of faith in each generation was wonderful to read. I loved the sharing of how their faith would be the foundation and what would get them through the hard times. Well written ladies.

I received an advanced reader's copy in exchange for my honest opinion for Net Galley
I'm not sure this one was for me after all. I'm usually a big fan of Mary Connealy- so that was a huge draw for me, and then the idea of different generations telling their story, should all be right up my alley. It just fell short for me this time. The only series of Mary's I haven't liked was the Petticoats series. ( I wanted to like Petticoats I really did. ) Elenore's story felt like that series, then the next story was so rough to get through and I was already eye rolling about author and the publisher falling in love at the beginning of the book falling love. I just don't think it was for me after all.

An interested selection of stories to show four generation of women. Not a lot of conflict since they were shorter, and there was one I didn’t particularly care for. It was also a bit strange how these families had only one or no children, which was uncommon back then. As a whole they were good if looking for quick reads without getting involved in a story too deeply.

THE LEGACY OF THE ROCKING K RANCH is more than a collection of novellas, it is a novel spanning four generations written by four different authors. I love the way their writing flows together to give us insight into the lives and loves of four incredible women, against the backdrop of the beautiful Wyoming countryside, the Wild West, and the prejudice and hardships they faced from 1850 to 1910. I must say that the men that became part of their lives are pretty amazing too!
I love the strong message of faith in God that runs through all the stories.
Altogether an enjoyable and inspirational read.
I was given a free copy of the book by NetGalley from Barbour Publishing.

Grace written by D J , Caroline by Becca Whitman and Penelope by Kimberly Woodhouse. Each woman struggled in different ways.
