This collection was engaging while reading, but immediately forgettable once finished unfortunately, but for quick stories they did the job
An absolutely delightful regency holiday collection! All the authors in this set are new to me, and I enjoyed experiencing each of their writing styles. Although the stories are written by four different authors, the stories are intertwined and tie in together well and all end with the annual Christmas Eve ball, taking place in the charming town of Cheltenham, England. This is a beautiful compilation of stories that can easily be read in one sitting and I was totally enchanted by them all. If you need a quick pick-me-up to get you in the holiday spirit and don't have a lot of time to read, these are the perfect stories to keep handy. The writing was well-done and I found myself with a warm feeling and smile on my face when I finished. A lovely and charming collection!
I received a complimentary copy from Netgalley and am voluntarily leaving my review.
A wonderful selection of sweet, clean, romances that are perfect for the winter months. I loved each of these and my only wish is that they were longer as I want to know more about the what happens next.
I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This is such a wonderful book. I enjoyed ever minute of reading it. It's now on my list of favorite Christmas books of all time!
True Love Gave to Me is a collection of four sweet, regency novellas set in the Christmas season. Each of the four authors are new to me, but I do love a good Christmas novella, so I wanted to give it a try. I am glad I did. The stories each captured my attention and were written well. The plot lines were believable and did not feel far-fetched at all. The romance is clean and sweet and put a smile on my face.
I received a complimentary copy from the publisher and all opinions expressed are solely my own, freely given.
A quick and enjoyable read for the holidays. All four short stories were charming in their own way. I'd recommend to those who are wanting a short but sweet Regency tale.
The anthology 'True Love Gave to Me' is promoted as a 'regency holiday collection but fell short. The writing was basic and there was little connection to the holidays. It seems none of the writers really know much about the regency period or holiday traditions in UK during that time. Nothing offensive but there are many better choices for holiday reading.
This was a very cute holiday anthology.
The first and and second books in the set were my favorites.
“The Heart of a Dove” By Evie Montgomerie
Still grappling with the devastating loss of her brother, Dinah Beaumont’s family is on the brink of financial ruin after trusting the wrong man. In their greatest hour of need, a handsome stranger arrives, intending to save the estate. Will Dinah’s instinct to protect those she loves keep her from opening her heart?
- The one was really touching. She loved her family and it really showed. A dashing hero and all is well for the holidays.
“The Golden Rings of Cantley Hall” By Kat Carlin
Four times a widow, Lady Isobel Townsend Weatherby Du Monte Lancaster Elliot is unlucky in love. When an accident befalls her only son just days before Christmas, his tutor, Simon Bromley, risks his life to save the young master. Can tragedy open Isobel’s eyes to the love that was there all along?
- I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about this one. Four times a widow seemed a bit much, but it did add to the story. I really started to want these two to end up together.
“Miss Swan Takes Flight” By Emily Opal
Henry’s mother will have her son engaged by the end of his Christmas visit. She forces him to dance with Naomi Swan, a determined spinster. Despite his best efforts, Henry finds himself falling for Naomi. He hopes the heat of their dance will be enough to keep Miss Swan from flying away.
- This one was cute. Nothing over the top, but enjoyable.
“One Lord to Love” By Anne Farleigh
Eleanor has sworn off love. In a bid for her independence, she agrees to consider ten lords of her brother’s choosing. When the irritating Lord Overton makes advances, she sabotages his visit and succeeds in chasing him away. By the time she realizes her feelings have changed, she may have lost her best chance at happiness.
- I did also enjoy this story. I didn't take to this heroine quite as much, but still it was a holiday story. What's not to love!
Thank you to the publisher and to Netgalley for allowing me to read and arc of this book. All opinions expressed are my own.
A sweet clean Christmas short story collection from some well known author's. All the story's are set in the same area but otherwise are not connecting to each other. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
What a fun book!
Great short stories that read fast.
These are 4 short stories that do not have a lot of complications to their plot. All are centered around a small town during the Christmas season. The characters do not get involved in each others plot but it is the same time period.
I highly recommend this book.

Escape to a Regency Christmas in Cheltenham with this sweet romance anthology. Four talented authors grace this collection with variety and charm. Enjoy snowy walks and kisses under the mistletoe. Treat yourself to heartwarming emotion and holiday wonder. These short novellas offer a quick escape during the bustle of year-end celebrations.
Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.
All four of these novellas were adorable! These characters were strong, but flawed. They made mistakes but learned from them. They were honest and learned to trust in spite of past mistakes. The community of Cheltenham was adorable in its Christmastime traditions coming together to celebrate love.
These four authors are new to me. I look forward to reading more of their romances! And, I loved the ‘clean’ aspect of these romances.
I enjoyed reading these four couples and their sweet, romantic stories. I liked how they all 'came together'; it was wholesome and a perfect afternoon read.
