Firstly, I just love these covers. They remind of tarot cards and gorgeous ones at that. I'm not into tarot cards as such but I do love the art. This series are fast easy reads because you just have to keep going to find out what's happening next especially with the slow burn!

The novel is told from 2 POVs (Caelin and Lexa) and at times, overlaps in time and/or incident but with their own thoughts which could be repetitive but there wasn't that many and was handled quite well that I didn't mind it so much. I love fated lovers trope and as this one reaches across the ages, I'm even more in love with this pair.

My only complaint was that the spice happened a little too quick for me lol. I am left wanting ;p

I don't usually read fantasy books but I was pleasantly surprised. There were points when I didn't feel as immersed but it is new to me. I'd definitely try more by the author

I went into this book very intrigued for what would happen with these characters after the cliffhanger ending to Violins and Vampires. I was a little surprised that the book opens with several chapters set 1,000 years in the past but I enjoyed getting more of Lexa and Caelin's backstory and history and felt as though it did a good job of reminding readers of the events of book one whilst also expanding the lore of these books. Overall, I thought this book felt much tighter and more complete than Violins and Vampires which, based on what I know about how book 1 came to be, I suspect is because this book wasn't written in a serialised form so it generally flows better.

I did notice that timelines get a bit wobbly around the middle of the book however, as I read an ARC edition of this book, I suspect these issues are not present in the finalised edition of this book however they don't really impact the story beyond making the reader have to take a moment to double-check what they thought the timeline was.

I really enjoyed this story and felt that there was a good balance between romance and the fantasy threat plotline. I do think I would have liked to see Caelin and Konstantin's apparent comparisons to mafia bosses to be further elaborated because they mostly feel like cinnamon rolls at the moment but I know that there are at least 3 more books in this series so this is definitely something that the story could potentially explore.

I am interested to see what direction future volumes go in as it somewhat feels like Lexa and Caelin's arc is finished with this book; does this mean that the next book/s will have two different POVs or will we still have POVs from Caelin and Lexa but get more POVs added into the mix? I am definitely looking forward to seeing what comes next as I appreciate the unique take on vampire lore that we get with these books.

Overall, I had a really good time with this book and felt satisfied with the place that we were left at the end of this book.

I love the world building and character development of the second installment of Vampires of the Daemonverse. I am a huge fan of song women heroes who overcome adversity and fall in love at the same time! I also have a weakness for a Scottish accent. On a personal note, it bugs me when readers jump into a series halfway and complain that they don't understand the full story. Enjoy the ride!!!!

Maybe it’s because I didn’t read the first book, but that’s probably not the issue. This was just painful to read.

This is incredibly vague and slow. There is no plot, as far as I can tell, it’s just a collection of badly written characters doing random things. There is no world building, no character background, and no indication of what is going on or supposed to happen….

Some people we have no information about, in a world that’s ours but with vampires living alongside humans long ago, are headed somewhere with no map provided to explain locations, to battle some other guy that is doing something vaguely having to do with gods that are opposites but have a peace treaty, and this happens every year but this time it’s “different”, and then there’s fated mates and the one leader guy finds a girl he likes, but his “mate” is actually a 9 year old child that is then put in a frozen sleep until modern times, when she’s awakens to find a cure for her sister, but instead also finds her “mate” and gets into other trouble, and that’s where I stopped reading because it was just so boring…

I do not have anyone to recommend this to.

Until Next Time,
MC
