Sincere appreciation is extended to the author, to the publisher (Dreamscape Select, Storm Publishing), and to NetGalley. Thank you for granting access to this work in exchange for an honest review. The words I have shared are my own.
This was a fun story and a great way to start off your winter reading. We follow Eve and Joe as they deliver Christmas joy around London while slowly falling in love.
While Harrie Dobby did a good job narrating this novel, the narration could have benefited from a second narrator or more variance from Harrie when telling the story from the alternating points of view. It generally took me a minute or so when the POV switched around to figure out who was speaking.
Overall, a fun holiday read.
Five Gold Rings was such a fun holiday read! I received this as an audiobook ARC and was able to listen to it in one day. I really felt like this was such a good holiday rom com that should be on everyone's radar. I loved Joe from page one, and I felt like he could do no wrong, while Eve was relatable and quirky. The back and forth between the two felt real and flowed well, not missing a beat. Let me just say that their job is entertaining to say the least and I had such a good time experiencing this book. The narrator did a fantastic job reading this story to me. I would love to listen to more audiobooks with Harrie Dobby bringing the story to life and will definitely be reading more books by Kristen Bailey. If you are looking for a new book boyfriend and a fun holiday read, do yourself a favor and buy this book!
Thank you so much NetGalley, Storm Publishing, and Dreamscape Select for the opportunity to listen and review this honestly.
Happy reading!
Great book to get you in the holiday spirit. Fun characters and story. Combination of misunderstandings, humor and some steam.
This was such a quirky fun rom-com that I enjoyed from start to finish. While it was a bit over the top at times, it always kept me entertained, laughing out loud and rooting for the main characters. I loved the story of having to deliver the 5 rings in time for all the special wedding, proposals etc. It was heartfelt, but with tons of humor so it didn't come off to "Hallmark" for me. Fun listen for the holidays.
5 Stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This book is the perfect holiday romcom! This was my first Kristen Bailey and it won't be my last. Her writing reminded me a lot of Abby Jimenez and Jasmine Guillory which are two of my favorite romance writers.
There was sadly no real spice but it does open with a BANG! There were a ton of heartwarming moments that make you want to hug the book and a ton of laugh-out-loud moments too.
The words on the cover say "One broken heart, two festive weddings, three bended knees, four fake Santas..." and with the book opening with a heartbreak -- I was like "How in the world are all these things going to take place in this book?" ohh... mystery!
The adventure this book takes you on is magical and I don't want to give it away but I loved going on it and I highly recommend it!
I will say it's a little jarring that this love story happens so quickly after a breakup and with Eve being drunk for what felt like half the book -- but you also understand that they have been co-workers for a while now and it's been a bit of slow burn in the background of their lives up to this point. if you can get over that point, then you'll love this book!
I want to thank NetGalley and Storm Publishing for this gift copy for my honest review!
Five Gold Rings by Kristen Bailey is a charming and sweet Christmas story. Coworkers Joe and Eve must delivery 5 gold rings over the course of a few days leading up to Christmas. Eve is recovering from a breakup and eager for the distraction. Joe has a long standing crush on Eve and eager to spend time with her. Commence the hilarious adventures! It is super cute and fun! I loved hearing the stories associated with each of the ring deliveries. I also loved that it was dual point of view.
The narrator is great. The pacing was perfect. I would have preferred a male narrator for Joe's sections.
Thank you to Dreamscape Select, Storm Publishing and NetGalley for this audio ARC!
4/5 Stars
Do you like cheesy, romantic, HEA stories beset by festive scenes and all different kinds of love? If you answered yes to any one of those options then this book is for you.
Eve and her boyfriend Chris break up on Christmas Eve eve. Considering Eve’s love of Christmas, this is heartbreaking for her - especially as she caught him cheating on her - IN HER FLAT! In Eve’s post-Chris-bombshell (and after imbibing many of the alcoholic gifts she had bought for his relatives) she finds herself on a quest to deliver 5 wedding rings before the final stroke on midnight on Christmas Day.
Along for the ride, with Eve, and acting as the sober driver is Joe. Buff ex-med student turned part time worker who is secretly in love with Eve (shh don’t tell her). What follows is a beautiful story of love in many forms as Joe and Eve deliver wedding rings across London.
Stories like these always make me homesick as there’s something magical about cold christmases and the anticipation and magic in the air at Christmas time. I loved reading this story and fell in love with both Eve and Joe (hate Chris though) and many of the supporting casts.
100% recommend this book to all for something to truly get you in the Christmas spirit!
This was a cute, funny holiday story.
Joe and Eve work together part time at a jewelry store. He clearly has been crushing on her for a while, but she is in a serious relationship and is oblivious.
When Eve's relationship breaks up right around Christmas and the jewelry store owners have a crisis and need five rings delivered, they call Joe to come to the rescue on both counts.
Joe and Eve head out to deliver the rings, and their endeavors are hilarious! Eve starts to see Joe in another light, and read the book if you want to know how things go down. Narration was well done and it was a quick listen.
Many thanks to Netgalley and Dreamscape Select for an ALC in exchange for my honest review.

Thank you @netgalley for the audiobook copy of this story.
This was the perfect, light hearted read that I needed.
It was super cute, with lots of laughable moments. I loved Eve and Joes relationship and it was fun to see it progress. I loved all the little adventures they went on together, and all the sentimental moments were placed perfectly.
The narrator did a good job, everything felt authentic.
I would definitely read this author again!
A funny christmas read that you will not want to put down.
Eve, after returning home early, finds her boyfriend in the shower with another women. After throwing his belongings out of the window to goes to her workplace at Casper's Jewellers for comfort.
This beautifully funny story with have you laughing out loud, a must read.
Five Gold Rings by Kristen Bailey
Narrator, Harrie Dobby
Very funny opening scene If you have a slightly unkind sense of humor. Like me. There is sex and there are four letter words.
I loved this story but it is not for anyone sensitive to the above.
Really a very sweet story with a happy ending. The last ring scene is very sweet and a bit tear jerky.
Narrator was not great, especially with male voices but the story was so good that it didn’t bother me. I plan to read more by the
same author.
This book was just lovely and so enjoyable. It was funny and heartwarming. Lots of character growth and good conflict. Joe was the best kind of hero—kind hearted and sweet. It was well written and definitely put me in the holiday mood. I’ve enjoyed all the books I’ve read from this author. The audiobook narrator did a good job. It would have been nice to have a male voice for Joe as sometimes I would forget that it was in his POV, but it’s not necessary. Huge thanks to Netgalley and the audiobook publisher for allowing me to listen and review this book.
This book was a fun holiday read. After finding her boyfriend is cheating, Eve and her coworker adventure through the city delivering engagement rings. The characters in this book were relatable. I enjoyed listening to the different proposals as no two were alike. This was an enjoyable book about a women finding her footing after discovering her boyfriend's infidelity all while trying to fix a big work problem. Alot can happen in just a few days.
This is such a feel good holiday romance!!
Though it starts off with our FMC Eve walking in on her long term boyfriend cheating on her with another woman just before Christmas which is obviously ~not great~ by chapter 2 I was cracking up! [I don't consider that a spoiler because it happens right off the bat and is in the book excerpt] From there on out, there are sweet and sad moments, but mostly hilarious ones. Eve and Joe, our main characters, set out to deliver 5 rings before Christmas after a mix-up at the jewelers where they work. Joe has been in love with Eve for two years and tries to help mend her broken heart while they save Christmas for five loving couples. The two encounter many fun characters along the way and hilarious mishaps and experiences make this a must read/listen for the holiday season!<3
I listened to the audio for this one and it was sooo good! I like being able to picture the characters and hear their voices in my head and the narrator Harrie Dobby really brings our main characters to life. The audio flows and it felt like a quick listen because I could not put it down(: If you prefer audiobooks to physical books, I can confirm this one is a great option!
If you like holiday romance, romantic gestures, silly adventures and heartwarming love stories then this is a good book for you!!
Thank you NetGalley & Dreamscape Select, Storm Publishing for the eAudio ARC! All thoughts and opinions are my own. My review is posted on Goodreads and Instagram.
Five Gold Rings is a funny, heartwarming novel by Kristen Bailey. A few days before Christmas Eve arrives home from a conference a few hours early to surprise live in boyfriend Chris. However, it is Eve that gets quite the surprise when she walks in on him and a lady he works with in quite the compromising position in her own shower. Although Eve may think better of it later, she flies into a tirade that ramps up when the woman throws on Eve’s robe as she gets out, to quickly run to Eve’s bedroom to recover her clothes and make a break for it. As Chris dries off he tries to convince Eve that it wasn’t what she thought even if she did see it with her own two eyes. Quickly dressed, Chris comes into the living room where Eve spins further and makes a point when she begins throwing his things out of the window, including his phone and the engagement ring he had wrapped underneath the tree before kicking him out completely.
With that done, there seems nothing more to do except open up all the alcoholic gifts wrapped for his family and drown her sorrows. As Eve thinks about what has happened, she thinks about the ring and quickly thinks it would be good to know when he had bought it since it was in a Caspars jewelers box, where Eve works part time on weekends as she studies for her law degree. Appearing at Caspars in her tipsy condition raises a huge red flag for the elderly couple. Mrs. Caspar immediately contacts Joe Lord, who works with Eve and has had an unrequited crush on Eve for a long time.
Joe is a very interesting man holding down several meaningless jobs to make ends meet while living in his friend’s guest room. One of his other gigs is as male entertainment at hen dos, which is what he is leaving when he gets Mrs. Caspar’s call that Eve needs help. Dressed in a skimpy elf getup, Joe rushes to the store to find things every bit as bad as Mrs. Caspar said. Soon after Joe’s arrival, it is learned that a huge mix up in holiday deliveries has been made. Instead of giving the courier a family set of special cuff links to deliver for an anniversary party, a selection of five different rings set for special proposals and weddings was sent. To help the Caspars and to distract Eve, Mrs. Caspar asks if the pair will deliver the cuff links, then deliver the rings to their destinations. Agreeing to do so, Eve and Joe take off on a two day adventure.
This is such a funny yet poignant story! Ms. Bailey has plotted the perfect British farce with surprising twists and heartwarming turns. I both laughed aloud and shed a tear as I moved through this lovely story. Ms. Bailey is a new author to me and I look forward to reading much more of her work. I very much enjoyed this book and I do recommend it!
Eve is having a difficult holiday season when she walks in on her boyfriend with another woman. After three years of dating, Eve realizes that the relationship she had invested in was not honest. To help cope with her heartbreak, she finds herself at work looking for comfort and something to take her mind off the breakup. Joe has had a crush on Eve since they met two years ago. When his boss calls to let Joe know about Eve, Joe is there to support Eve immediately. While at the shop, they realize there has been a mix-up with a jewelry pick-up, and now the two of them must right their wrongs by delivering the misplaced rings to the correct owners.
Five Gold Rings is a cute, light-hearted romcom that is a good Christmas read. It is silly and heartwarming as Eve and Joe connect with others during their special moments. Fueled by alcohol, music, and misunderstandings, it is a fun read, especially if you enjoy the friends-to-lovers trope. That said, I feel like the story focused too much on the side characters, and I would have enjoyed a lot more of Joe’s and Eve’s relationship. It is not realistic regarding timing, and I would have loved more character growth, which is hard to do in a 48-hour time frame. I felt like I was continuously waiting for something more profound, and I did not get it. This may be because it was so silly and light.
The audiobook version was delightful, and listening to the book is a great way to enjoy the story. The narrator did an excellent job, and because the story is light, it is a good book to listen to while getting into the holiday spirit. The one negative about the audiobook version is that it is difficult to follow with the dual point of view. I often needed clarification about who was speaking and I wish we were told when the character changed or had two narrators.
Five Gold Rings provides precisely what a reader might need for a little holiday spirit. I recommend it as an easy holiday vacation read if you feel like something cute and a little goofy.
Such a cute holiday read! There were numerous laugh out loud moments and the beginning really pulled me in. I was confused with the ending since there was nothing there before between Eve and Joe. Lots of Christmas stories and overall, cute.
Five Gold Rings was a cute story that is fun for the holiday season. The narrator did a great job keeping me engaged in the story, but I struggled buying into the romance between Joe and Eve. It felt a bit flat for me because Eve worked with Joe and never had feelings for him, yet the story abruptly ends and they’re in love. It was not a bad romance or anything, but it wasn’t great either.
For my first Christmas book of the season, this was a pretty good start. This book was hilarious, heartwarming, and sweet. It was a touch long, but I really enjoyed these adventures and the Christmas storyline. I would recommend this to anyone looking for Holiday reads.
