When I read a Rom/Com there are a few things I need:
1. A male character who is manly. I am fine with him being artsy, skinny, glasses, smart, a good cook, appreciative of the arts but at the end of the day I want a man to be emotionally strong, and by under no circumstances GIGGLE. Joe giggled. (strike 1)
2. A main female character I can cheer for. Even if I have nothing in common with them I at least have to like them. I felt no friendship with her. Maybe because the fact she was drunk for most of the book (Strike that, the author would have her wave in and out of drunkedness...very unrealistic) She was just too dramatic and sloppy for me to like.
3.Chemistry-There was about as much Chemistry in this book as there would be at a English Faculty department meeting on a Tuesday afternoon
The idea behind this book was cute, exactly what you would want to get into the mood of Christmas. But even from the opening scene that outlined (in too much detail) about Eve's cheating boyfriend. I wish the author had done a more "off the page" style cheating, this was not done in a tasteful way. (Strike 2) Also the amount of references to poop/pee was very amateur writing. Overall the book felt silly, the situations the characters found themselves in and conversations they had would appeal more to a young teen than probably the 25+ age women this book is written for.
Maybe I am just the scrooge but it was too much "Whoovile" Silly-ness for me.
Thank you Netgalley for allowing me to review this advanced copy of Five Gold Rings in exchange for my honest review. I was not influenced or paid for my honest opinion.
This was. sweet, story-driven romance. I enjoyed the audio version over the course of a weekend and felt it was ideal (for me) at 1.5x speed as the narration is a bit slow otherwise. It was easy to forget that the entire book takes place over only a few days which, at times, made the feelings between the MCs feel a bit rushed. Until remembering that they have actually known each other a lot longer. It's a fairly clean romance that is a great start to the holiday season for anyone who loves seasonal/holiday books!
Five Gold Rings by Kristen Bailey is a cute and fun Holiday RomCom.
The story is told in 2 POV‘s, Eve and Joe.
After Eve gets her heartbroken on Christmas Eve Eve, she goes and gets comfort from the owners of the jewelry store where Eve works. The owners call Joe, whom has a secret crush on Eve, in to help. While all that’s happening, there has been a mixup on deliveries of 5 gold rings. Joe and Eve rush to go get them delivered to the rightful owners.
If you love Hallmark Christmas movies, then you will love this .

This story was so cute and perfect for the season to come. Both of the characters are easy to love. The story if full of crazy shenanigans!!
After her boyfriend's betrayal, Eve seeks comfort from her caring bosses at the jewelry store where she works. She joins coworker Joe, who's secretly in love with her, in delivering rings meant for Christmas proposals and weddings. Will the growing feelings between them lead to a rebound fling, or true love?
These characters are lovely. The story is funny and heartwarming—a sweet holiday treat. The audiobook narration is fun and entertaining.
Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.
This was okay. It’s very light on the romance - heavier on the humor. It’s quite a slapstick type of comedy that isn’t really my cup of tea but I know many like this type of over the top, crazy situation laughs. I’m never a big fan when the ex is still around, and the new romance is a bit too soon here in my opinion. The Christmas cheer is here, but didn’t feel very festive overall. The narrator did a pretty good job with the male and female POV but think it would have been better with a separate male narrator. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to provide my honest review.
This was such a cute story! The premise is unique and I enjoyed the dual POV. I listened to the audiobook and thought the narrator did a nice job for each of the characters. Also, I think this would make a really cute Christmas movie!
Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher, and author for granting me an advanced copy of the audiobook in return for an honest review. This audiobook is set to come out on 10/30/23.
I loved first audiobook I listened to by this author, Sex Ed, so when I saw she had a new Christmas coming up. I jumped at the chance to review it. Harrie Dobby is back again for the narration, and she is just as amazing as before, bringing you right to the centre of the story with a range of voices.
This is the perfect audiobook for the run up to Christmas. Whilst you wrap presents, put the tree up or prep your turkey, you can listen to Eve and Joe as they spend Christmas delivering five rings to their customers. You’ll chuckle and have your heart warmed as you join them for festive fun, romance, revenge and drunken adventures… all whilst forging a new future. I really enjoyed the surprise in the epilogue. Exactly what I wanted to read!
If festive reads, friends to lovers and books about mischief and road trips are your thing, congratulations, you have it all lined up for you in Five Gold Rings. Enjoy!

I absolutely ADORED this book. This is exactly what I needed to get into the holiday spirit.
After finding her long term boyfriend cheating on her, Eve is tasked with delivering five rings right before and on Christmas. With Joe, who has had a crush on Eve for the longest time unbeknownst to her.
Now they are spending the most magical days of the year together. Will Eve’s eyes finally be opened to what’s been in front of her all this time? Or will Joe’s crush forever be one sided and be left with a lost opportunity?
I seriously can’t explain how much I loved this book and these characters! The situations that they found themselves in were great and hilarious at the same time. But the connection between Joe and Eve is truly what made this book special.
This was a very cute listen! I enjoyed the narrator, but felt it could've benefited from dual narrators. I loved the plot, but the issue for me was the chemistry between Eve and Joe was not there. It was clear how Joe felt about Eve, but I didn't feel the same love from Eve. I had high expectations, but unfortunately this story was a little lacking for me.
Super cute! The adventures that Eve and Joe go on in just a few days are charming, funny, and moving. Eve does spend the majority of the book drunk, which is understandable considering the circumstances with her ex, but I thought the relationship chemistry building would have been better with a little more sobriety.
Harrie Dobby's audiobook narration is done very well, and props on the excellent Russian accent and French language. However, two narrators would have benefited the book greatly since the POVs alternate between Eve and Joe, and it wasn't always easy to tell whose side was being relayed with just Harrie Dobby's voice.
Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Select for the ARC!
Loved this book and the characters Eve and Joe!! This book had me wanting more and I could not wait to find out how the book ended. I loved it very much and highly recommend.
Stop what you are doing, and add this book to the top of your Christmas TBR list. Five Gold Rings is absolutely heat warming and delightful.
Two days before Christmas, our heroine Eve comes home early from a conference only to find her boyfriend with another woman. To get her mind off of things Eve agrees to help her jewelry shop employers out by delivering 5 gold rings over Christmas Eve and New Years with her co-worker Joe (who happens to be madly in love with her). Shenanigans ensue, as well as a little Christmas magic. There are so many fun, sweet and thoughtful moments. Joe is the most ooey gooey cinnamon roll hero. I loved everything about this book. This is my first time reading Kristen Bailey and it will not be my last, I loved her wit.
Thanks to Netscape and Dreamscape Select for the advanced listener copy. Harrie Dobby was a wonderful narrator with such a soothing voice, and a lovely singing voice as well.
Cute and fun Christmas story. Eve finds her boyfriend cheating on her in their apartment on December 23rd so not the best way to start the holiday. While dealing with her broken heart there is a mix up at the jewelry store she works at and she and Joe (who is secretly in love with her) set out on a mission to get five rings to all the right people by Christmas Day. I liked this book there's a lot more that goes on to make each trip interesting and of course for Eve to start wondering if she was with the wrong man all along. I liked both main characters and the side characters we meet along the way. Giving this one 3 stars. I want to thank NetGalley and Dreamscape Select for the audio arc in exchange for an honest review.
It the day before Christmas Eve, Eve finds out her boyfriend is cheating on her!
Eve is extremely broken and not in the Christmas spirit at all. Joe has had a crush on her for months. When they are forced to deliver 5 wedding rings before the end of Christmas, Eve releases the flaws of her relationship and how much fun she can have. Feelings start to develop spending so much time with Joe.
Very cute holiday book. It has so many funny moments and at least I was rooting for them the whole damn time. Keeping me in the Christmas mood.
Thank you NetGalley for the audio-arc version of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This book really started out with a bang and just kept getting better. I really enjoyed this sweet book. It was the perfect mix of cheeky fun and romance. I loved the premise with the five gold rings and the situations Joe and Eve found themselves in while delivering them.
I’m a sucker for a holiday romance HEA and this one did not disappoint. I really felt for Eve and what she went through. It was refreshing to see how sweet Joe was with her. A true gentleman. I really loved these two together!
If you enjoy rom coms, friends to lovers, forced proximity, and cinnamon roll MCs then I highly recommend you read this book.
I loved this audiobook. It was such a fun sweet friends to lovers story. I loved that it embraced the theme of five golden rings and all the little love stories that were featured. It was just a festive, lovable read.
I want to thank Netgalley and the author for gifting me the audio version.
I got about 50% in and I just can't take it anymore. This book is so vile and filthy. I thought with it being a romcom Christmas story it was be better. But this wow it is very very sexually explicit and the language is really bad. It must be for a different audience but I didn't enjoy it at all.
ALL THE FEELS! Anyone who enjoyed Love Actually should read definitely read this one. It’s equal parts hilarious and heartwarming and I devoured it. I listened to it in one day because I couldn’t get enough. Such a wonderful holiday story and it makes me so excited for the holidays that are right around the corner.
Thanks to netgalley/publisher/author for opportunity to listen to the audio prior to releasing in exchange for my honest review.
Super super cute Christmas-y read/listen. Perfect for fans of Love,Actually. Or any fans of British romcoms, Christmas movies.
I'd recommend.
