I enjoyed listening to the audiobook of this story. I thought the narrator did a good job (I listened to it on 1.25 speed which worked well for me.) There was a lot about the story I liked - I've read a similar story recently but this one had different elements, particularly with Leah's difficult home life, which added depth to the plot and brought in some more questions about what might have happened to the missing girl. Without wanting to give too much away, I didn't really like the ending. It didn't quite ring true, although it's one of those where I would have to read the book again to be 100% sure. However, on the whole, a good story, well paced, and with plenty of surprises to keep you hooked.

Twenty years after the night that changed Leah's life, a documentary crew comes to town looking to interview her about that night.... the night that she and three friends went to a sleepover, and she was the only one still there in the morning.

This was a quick read with a twisty ending. It's hard to explain without spoilers, but I wish the red herring end would have been the actual end. It was a more interesting turn that was much more surprising. I still really enjoyed the book, I just didn't find the end to be surprising, it was pretty much what I expected from the start. Still a really solid book though.

"People don't disappear."...until they do!

The Night Of The Sleepover by ultimate twisty psychological thriller author Kerry Wilkinson is a bewildering tale of four 15 year old teens having a sleepover overeating pizza, stealing liquor from their parents stash, and watching loud movies but when Leah wakes up her 3 friends are gone and never seen again. Twenty years later the brother of one of the missing girls is investigating the disappearance for a true crime documentary. Leah's his first interview believing she knows more than she told the police.

The heightened vocal emotions of voice actress Olivia Darnley makes this twisty tale almost too real. I never imagined the big reveal even after my mind over slept on it.

I received a free copy of this audiobook from the Bookouture Audio via #NetGalley for a fair and honest review. All opinions are my own.

Oh wow! This one was a wild ride. The Night Of The Sleepover is written in first person where we follow Leah, who is the sole survivor after a harmless sleepover with friends. I mean what can go wrong with some pizza and maybe a little bit of vodka? Welp, something did, and Leah woke the next morning with her three friends missing. Now twenty-four years later a brother to one of the girls is creating a docuseries looking into the unsolved mystery. It's told in a dual timeline, where we, as the reader, get glimpses into the past of the night of the sleepover, days prior to the sleepover and even days after the sleepover as well as the present.

Kerry Wilkinson has a way of making the reader feel all of the suspense in the story. I know that there were multiple times while reading this one where I was getting goosebumps because there were so many things that happened around the time of the sleepover that was super sketch, but also things that were happening to Leah in the present that were also super sketch that made me not be able to trust many of the characters. I was super into this story and read it in a day. I really like how the mystery played out and where exactly Wilkinson took this one.

That ending was horrifying. Never in a million years could I have ever guessed that ending and wow did I freaking love it. Not only that, but there will be a sequel to this one which I am now impatiently waiting for.

I listened to this one via audiobook which was narrated by Olivia Darnely. She was fantastic and while listening to this one. I felt like I was Leah, like I was transported to the sleepover and to the present day where I was living with the regret of not knowing what happened to three of my friends. Very well done, very easy to follow and most definitely recommend if you are an audiobook fan!

If your looking for a fast paced, thrilling read with some shocking twists go ahead and pick this one up - it is well worth the read and I cannot wait to see where the story leads in book two.

Huge thank you to NetGalley, Kerry Wilkinson and Bookouture Audio for the ALC in exchange for my honest review! The Night Of The Sleepover was just released on 10/23 and is available on Kindle Unlimited - be sure to grab your copy now!

Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for and ARC audiobook of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Well this was surely a twister. This was a story that as soon as you were sure you finally figured out what had happened there was a new twist. I can almost guarantee you will be on a roller coaster with this one. The ending was one that I had even imagined.

Like the plot, your trust and understanding of the characters also fluctuates with the information you find out about each.

The subplot of the documentary was a fresh breath from all the books with podcast subplots. And the creepy texts asking/threatening Leah gave some Pretty Little Liars vibes.

The story line does alternate from present day to the past (days leading up to the sleepover), which I actually quite liked as it helps the reader to get to know the three dead girls on a more personal note. As a teacher, I found these girls (as teens during the past timeline) were very relatable in how teens can be so hot and cold with their friends, angsty and rebellious.

I know a lot of people say that nothing happens for most of the book, which is mildly true, but I really enjoyed learning all of the background information about how the girls went missing and why Leah thinks she may have been spared. I found it to be like listening to a murder podcast where you learn all the information about crime before leading up to the present day information.

I would recommend this book to any avid mystery or thriller readers; or anyone looking for a quick beach read. It would also make for an excellent road trip audiobook since you and your trip buddies would have loads to talk about and to hypothesize about.

This is my second book by the author and the conclusion will leave you wanting to read the sequel immediately! What girls don’t want to spend the night with their best friends? Eating pizza, watching movies, and gossiping. And no sleepover is complete without sneaking a bit of alcohol!

But Leah isn’t like the other girls. She skips the drinking and opts for an early night in bed. When she wakes the next morning, the other three girls are gone.

This is a fast read with an interesting mystery. How do three girls vanish with no trace? And how could Leah have slept through this puzzling event?

The Night of the Sleepover by Kerry Wilkinson was a solid 4-star read. After reading only the blurb (no reviews) I was excited to spend Saturday listening to the audio version while cleaning the house. I eagerly dove in and immediately loved the storytelling which was done in dual timelines. It worked really well for this story as it added to the tension and my anticipation to find out ANSWERS! I had so many questions and was racking my brain as I tried to piece together WHAT HAPPENED TO THE GIRLS???
As a young girl growing up, sleepovers were life! A chance to bond with your girlfriends, pull pranks, sneak out, share secrets, scare each other and maybe even dabble in parents’ liquor cabinet! This story was interesting because the plot had me wondering what would I do if I woke up and my friends were missing. The plotline was unique and nostalgic in nature which is what pulled me right in, front and center. The story is filled with little clues along the way that keep your inner detective busy at work.
The audio narration was done nicely and I had no trouble following the dual timelines. If you enjoy mystery, suspense, with some thrills and unforeseen twists…then give this one a read! I look forward to reading more from this author.
Many thanks to NetGalley, Bookouture, and Kerry Wilkinson for the opportunity to review an ARC of this publication.

When Leah was 15 years old, her friends disappeared from a sleepover party they all attended. The lone, survivor, Leah had to move on without finding out what happened to the girls.

Now, there's a documentary being made about the disappearance and someone is hell bent on preventing the truth from ever coming out.

The Night of the Sleepover is a slow burn with an unexpected twist. I read this in one go and truly enjoyed every minute of it.

Thank you to Netgalley, Bookouture and the author for my free copy of the book.

On a Saturday night in 1999, Leah and her three other best friends are having a sleepover. The girls are home alone and have pizzas and some vodka pillaged from Vicky's dad to keep them busy. Leah says she was the first to fall asleep, and when she woke up in the morning, her three friends are gone. Now almost 25 years after the disappearance, a brother of one of her missing friends is making a documentary and digging up the past. When Leah starts getting anonymous emails telling her to stop the documentary from being made, she has to question who wants the documentary stopped so badly and what does this person have to hide?

This was a solid, quick, enjoyable psychological thriller. While I was hooked in the beginning, I did find myself loosing interest at times in the middle when I wasn't sure where the story was headed. After finishing the book, I now see that some of those situations that were introduced that seemed possibly ancillary at the time- were not. The last 25% of the book held my interest once again, as I was shocked by the twists I read and thoroughly enjoyed them. I found the characters all very interesting, how almost everyone in the story was a family member of one of the missing girls, it felt like a closed circle of suspects and I enjoy that in a thriller. At the end of the book, I can fully see how Wilkinson will be releasing a sequel to this book- there are so many unanswered questions that I can't wait to find out when the next book releases!

Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for an advance copy of this book on audio in exchange for my review. The Night of the Sleepover is out TODAY, October 23, 2023!

There's four of them when they go to sleep, but only one remains.
It started just like any other sleepover: Leah and her three best friends got in their pajamas, ate pizza, watched a movie, and stayed up way past their bedtime. When Leah woke, her friends were nowhere to be found. It's been twenty years, and a documentary is being made about that night. Rumors have resurfaced, and people are convinced Leah knows what really happened that night. Then, she receives an anonymous email telling her to stop them. Someone knows what happened that night and will do whatever it takes to stop the truth from coming out. Is Leah in danger? Will her friends be found? Or will this story stay unsolved forever?
I really enjoyed this story! There were some parts that moved a little slow, but it kept my interest. I was able to guess very little and was shocked by the truth of that night. The narrator, Olivia Darnley, did a great job narrating the story. I look forward to reading the sequel and other works of Kerry Wilkinson!

Thanks to NetGalley Shelf I was able to read The Night of the Sleepover by Kerry Wilkinson and wow.
Coming up on the anniversary of her 3 friends going missing in the middle of the night, Leah is approached by the brother of one of her friends that had gone missing to do an interview for a documentary covering the disappearances. At this time she starts receiving emails telling her she needs to stop the sleepover and items from the night of the sleepover start to show up. She starts trying to figure out who this mystery person is while everyone else is questioning what happened to these missing girls.
This was a slow burn that kept me guessing, I could not figure out how it was going to end. I am already looking forward to the next book.

Gripping, shocking, and hard to put down, Kerry Wilkinson had done it again! Another thrilling book which I devoured! Sleepovers were so much fun and many of us have been to them or hosted them in our homes in our youth. Sleepovers are a great way to get together with friends, have fun, bond, stay up late (or all night), watch movies, and tell scary stories. But for Leah, a sleepover with her friends changed her life forever.

Leah and three of her friends were having a slumber party. They were snuggled in for the night in their pajamas and sleeping bags after a night of fun! The next morning when Leah woke up, she was alone, and her friends were gone!

Questions swirled about what happened to the girls and how could Leah not know that they were missing. Didn't she hear anything? What does she know? Twenty years have passed and now a documentary is being made about the disappearance. Will the truth finally come out? Who sent Leah the message saying, "stop them"?

What happened the night of the sleepover? I wanted to know! I found myself flipping through the pages, my interest and curiosity piqued, wanting answers, and trying to solve the mystery! I had both the book and audiobook which made for a completely enjoyable reading experience.

I found this book to be well written, well thought out, and shocking. I enjoyed the many twists and turns! Plus, The Night of the Sleepover is the first book with the second book, After the Sleepover coming out in December! I can't wait!

I enjoyed this story. I think it worked well as an audiobook. It was a little long but I enjoyed the twist.

I was immediately intrigued by the original spin placed on this storyline, and raced through the pages to get to the crux of it all. With twists and turns that left me blindsided, the author has crafted a diabolical tale that will leave you speechless.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for an ARC.

Imagine waking up the morning after a sleepover with 3 of your best friends and finding yourself alone! This is what happened Leah, when she was 14. What happened to her friends is a question that hasn’t been answered in the almost 25 years since that night.
Approaching the 25th anniversary of the girls disappearance the brother of one of them decides to make a film about their disappearance, in the hope of getting answers.

On the day of her interview with him Leah receives a mysterious email from A Friend. With the words ‘Stop them’ written in it.

Who has sent the email? Who doesn’t want to have the mystery solved?

We follow Leah as she navigates her usual life outlines, along with the effects of having one of her worst experiences recreated and her trying to answer the question of who is out to stop the film?

I found this an interesting story and enjoyed listening to it. The narrator did a good job of retelling the story and keeping my interest.
I had my suspicions as to what happened that night back in 1999 and couldn’t have been more wrong. I liked the way the story unfolded and also the ending, which I felt worked well. I cannot wait for the next instalment.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me the opportunity to listen to this title.

I shall definitely be searching for more from this author

Nearly twenty-five years ago, Leah and her 3 friends had a sleepover. The next morning, Leah woke up to find that her 3 friends were missing. What happened to the girls that night? A documentary filmmaker is determined to uncover the truth about what really happened that night. Leah starts to get threatening anonymous emails telling her to find a way to stop the documentary. Who is sending these anonymous emails? Does that person know something about what happened the night of the sleepover?

This story is told in dual timelines. It jumps back and forth between the night of the sleepover and the present day. I found it to be an interesting read, but it was an extremely slow burn. Kerry Wilkinson tends to deliver more twists and turns throughout his books, but in this one, the twists and turns don’t happen until about 75% into the book. I did enjoy the ending and am interested in reading the sequel.

The audiobook was narrated by Olivia Darnely. I enjoyed her voicing of Leah as a teenager and as an adult. It was easy to determine the difference between the two.

This was a great book! I just needed to know what happened to the girls. I would have been happy with the ending and didn’t think it needed that last chapter, but it was still well done.

THE NIGHT OF THE SLEEPOVER was a slow-burn story. I liked that a documentary was being made to look into what happened to the girls that disappeared twenty years earlier. The ending is what really made this story. I would say stick with it because the ending has a nice big surprise. There will be a second book coming out in December called AFTER THE SLEEPOVER that I'll be reading, which should be very interesting!

Many thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for my gifted copy.

I recently had the pleasure of diving into "The Night of the Sleepover" by Kerry Wilkinson, and I was instantly drawn into the story. It gave me strong "Pretty Little Liars" vibes, which I absolutely adored. This audiobook is a rollercoaster of emotions, filled with cliffhanger after cliffhanger. Each twist and turn in the plot had me on the edge of my seat, and I couldn't stop listening. The way Kerry Wilkinson kept me guessing and needing more is a testament to his storytelling prowess.

What really sets this book apart is the unexpected plot twist. Just when I thought I had it all figured out, Wilkinson threw in a curveball I didn't see coming. It was a masterful move that left me in awe. I genuinely enjoyed every shocking moment, and the final twist was so mind-boggling that it had my jaw dropped. I can't express how much I relished this story.

"The Night of the Sleepover" takes you on a wild ride, and you won't want to get off. It's a rollercoaster filled with suspense, mystery, and a healthy dose of shock. This audiobook is twisted and dark in all the right ways, making it an absolute page-turner (or in this case, a must-listen). All I can say is, "What the heck?!" Wilkinson weaves a narrative that's both disturbing and captivating, making it a thrilling addition to the world of mystery novels. If you're a fan of unexpected twists and intense suspense, don't miss out on this gripping tale.
