this wasn't my favorite. I really wanted to like it but I felt that the plot was lacking. the spice level was there and I ended up enjoying it but im not sure I would continue this series.

I’m glad I finally got round to listening to this audiobook!

The characters were perfectly picked out and told the story so well.

The storyline itself made me go through so many emotions! I’m glad that characters got their HEA 🀧

Red Flags is about a girl, Sierra, who has scheduled her life around avoiding her abusers, and when presented with an opportunity to leave town as things start to escalate, she jumps out of the frying pan and into the fire by running off with the circus. I usually don't like instalove, but this one worked for me because Logan seems to have a hero complex. The book ended on a cliff hanger (boo! hiss!), so I can't wait for the next one!

Great audio narration.

Well… it was fine. But I just couldn’t get into the story. The characters weren’t developed and the dialogue was really lacking.

I am grateful for the opportunity for an advanced audio, but unfortunately this one missed the mark for me.

Red Flags was such an interesting story, the premise had me so hooked and I couldn’t wait to pick this book up. I didn’t realize this book was part of a series, which was no biggie as this was the first book in that series.

I was immediately pulled in by the circus setting and the tension in this small town. Logan and Sienna were both interesting characters and were fleshed out perfectly. I did this book mostly on audio and I absolutely loved it.

This fast-paced and engaging dark romance was the perfect read! I had no idea what I was getting myself into when I picked it up, but I was so fortunate to have received a gifted copy. I’m glad I enjoyed it and the ominous ending made me want to continue the series.

Thank you so much NetGalley and Dreamscape for the ALC in exchange for my honest review!

I don't know who doesn't love the circus. It's exciting, visually stunning, mysterious, and whimsical. All of these things are featured in the book Red Flags. This is my second book set in the circus this year, which is two more than I normally read. I can't say that I loved everything about the story, but it was okay. There were some great parts, and the dynamic between the main characters was toxic and fun. There are plenty of spicy scenes, but I must mention that this is more of a dark romance and it ends in a cliffhanger.

Overall, I think the characters are okay. Sienna is broken and abused by her father and the town she lives in. Shunned by the townspeople because of being mixed race, Sienna lives day by day just hoping to move on. Logan is the handsome circus guy who is not a hero and, in fact, warns Sienna that he will break her. There are lots of sex scenes in public places with no one seeing them, even more shunning by the circus folk. Sienna just can't catch a break. The narration was good overall, but the only thing that bothered me was that Sienna is from a small town in Texas, but the narrator is from somewhere up north. This took me out of the setting a few times. However, I will most likely continue the series.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC of this book! I really enjoyed this story and found it to be super entertaining. The trauma, spice, and thrill were to die for.

Sienna Mae hates her hometown. Stuck in an endless cycle of bigotry, endless bullies, and dreams of what could be, the tiny town in Nowhere, Texas feels more like a prison to her than a safe haven. When a circus comes to town, Sienna finally gets the chance to leave her old life behind and be free, but it requires her to depend on the secretive and dangerous Logan. Is she just running from one jail into another? Or is this circus the key to her freedom?

This book includes:
- dark romance
- every man I meet is obsessed with me (for better or for worse) trope
- atmospheric circus
- TW for childhood trauma (not on page), violence, and SA
- mysterious and potentially dangerous MMC
- stuck in a small town trope
- cliffhanger ending

I have mixed feelings about "Red Flags." On one hand, I do think that the writing was strong and I enjoyed all the imagery connected to life in the circus. On the other hand, I found the use of the "every man i meet is obsessed with me" trope was confusing. It took me out of the story the way that so many men who did not know her had such strong feelings about Sienna. Like why did the circus hands and Kyle's goons care so much. It took me out of the story to try to apply explicable motivations to their extreme behavior. There were some other characters who didn't have a clear motivation for their behavior - such as Cat (Kat?) or Travis - but I'm assuming it was a stylistic plot choice so I will accept it. Beyond that, I felt that there was something discomforting about the entire story and Sienna's character felt somehow naive, despite the narrative insisting she's cynical and jaded.

All that said, I could see a lot of middle aged women eating this book up, and I predict it being very popular. If you like "Haunting Adeline," you'll certainly like "Red Flags."

I received this audiobook as an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Thank you to NetGalley, Skye Warren, and Dreamscape Media for the opportunity to read and review this book. This review has been posted to GoodReads check out my profile https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/62314863

β€œRed Flags (Smoke and Mirrors, #1) is a dark contemporary romance filled with suspense, angst and seduction that may have you pitching a tent of your own by the end. πŸ˜‰ Skye Warren has created a beautiful new world all while capturing the artistry of a traveling circus. Logan Whitmere, the owner of β€œCirque Des Miroirs” and his found family have landed in the small town of Forrester, Texas, but circumstances have them leaving this dull little town with more than they intended to leave with.

Skye makes it so easy to fall for her characters. The sexy/domineering man has a guarded and secretive past that is kept hidden, while the exotic young beauty’s traumatic life remains at the forefront. Sienna is a magnet for trouble, and Logan is always there to her rescue. He may be her savior, but he is also her downfall: Earning him the namesake of the titled RED FLAGS.

This was my first introduction listening to the work of Leanne Woodward. Her single narration won me over with her sparkling performance and versatility of each characterization. Mostly, the voice of Logan; I was so immersed into the audiobook that I often forgot I was listening to a female actor’s depiction of a male character. I loved this audiobook so much that I listened to it twice. I’ll be hoping and looking forward to the next book, White Lies.

This was one heck of a ride! Sienna Cole, stuck in a rough situation in her Texas hometown, gets a ticket out when the mysterious Logan Whitmere and his Cirque des Miroirs come to town. Desperate for a change, Sienna takes up a gig as the circus's fortune teller. With all his mysterious and possessive vibes, Logan becomes both a fascination and a red flag for Sienna. The story mixes sizzling chemistry, circus intrigue, and Sienna's struggles to leave her troubled past behind. The author knows how to keep you hooked, and that cliffhanger ending has me itching for the next book. This story is a rollercoaster of emotions and a must-read if you love a blend of romance, mystery, and a touch of circus life!

This had past trauma, spice, along with a bit of a thriller to it. This story follows Sienna, who lives in a small town, where everyone wants to escape.

All of the sudden you’re thrown in the world of circus πŸŽͺ life and what it means to have family you choose.

Overall, interesting read and that ending has me hooked to know what happens next πŸ‘€

This was my first Skye Warren book and I grabbed it after I'd met her at a book event. I am happy to say this won't be my last book. I am excited to continue to read her stories.

Red Flags was interesting! The steam was interesting, but the plot was a bit basic. It was an enjoyable but quick read.

Small town where nothing happens and the circus comes. When a stranger comes into the coffee shop and hands her a VIP ticket she decides it is just what she needs and takes her BFF with her. Sienna is looking for a way out of her small town and her abusive home and after meeting Logan who owns the circus she is shown there may be a way. After her father beats her again she runs away and ends up knocking on Logan's door and next thing she knows the next day they are in the next town and she is set up as the fortune teller. Twists, turns, and intrigue. Plenty of steam and plenty of questions. Why did the circus pick that small town? What happened to the original fortune teller? What happened to her dad? Of course this one ends on a cliffhanger so hang on!

This book grabbed me from the start and didn't let go. This book had a unique story line. It was deep and hit me in all the feels. This is only the second book I've ready by this author, but I need to definitely put her on my automatic read list. Sienna and Logan are well fleshed out characters with solid growth. This book was well written with great conflict. The narrators did an amazing job bringing this book to life. Huge thanks to the audiobook narrator and Netgalley for allowing me to listen and review this book.

He was a red flag indeed.

As much as I liked the premises of this story, I found myself skipping a big chunk of it. It's quite the slow burn. Logan is the owner of Cirque des Miroirs and his circus has come to a small town. He meets Sienna, a young girl, who's trying to get away from her abusive father and keep her mother safe. They both find themselves attracted to one another with an undeniable pull. Sienna gets hired by Logan as a fake fortune teller in his circus as his employee is MIA. Not everyone in the circus is happy she's coming along as there was previous drama from a towney before.

And the cliffhanger?? God, I hope he redeems himself. That was so foul.

Red Flags (Cirque de Miroirs #1) was a great read by Skye Warren. Logan Whitmere is the handsome owner of Cirque des Miroirs. He is full of red flags, secretive, commanding and dangerous. Sienna is desperate for a way out of her small town even though she knows that she shouldnt trust him. He offers a job as a fortune teller and tells her; "You’re part of the circus now, which means you belong to me. You’re mine." He wants to protect her, even from the other performers and himself. She falls for him even if she is afraid of his obsession with her. I enjoyed reading this book and cant wait to read more by the author.
