Wow! I was fairly hooked throughout this book and I enjoyed it a lot. At some points it was difficult to keep the characters straight but it wasn't too difficult. I certainly wasn't expecting that ending!

This book unfortunately was not as good as I thought it was going to be. There was a lot of the plot that seemed very unrealistic, especially towards the end. There were a lot of characters to keep up with and not much depth to any of them.

This was amazing! I love the two main characters. Loved how they handled these horror situations. Also 10/10 villain.

My first take on this book was that it was so weird that the murders took place in 2008, and that is was so long ago 😭 It took me a while to get past that. But even with that, I enjoyed this book from the very beginning. It's multi POV with two character POV in the present and one taking place in the past. I like this set up for a thriller, especially when it involves a murder in the past. You get to see what the present people are finding out about the murder, while also getting to see what really happened back when the murder actually took place. It just really paints a better picture to me.
I did guess part of the plot twist for this, and while I'm proud of myself for figuring it out, I don't think it's meant to be that hard to figure out lol. There were two parts that got me in the end though, one specifically. But my lips are sealed so you can be just as surprised as I was.
I enjoyed this author's first book, but I enjoyed this one so much more. I think because we weren't left of an ending that was just so far out in left field. Danielle Valentine also does a great job with the thriller aspect of her books. I had to quit listening to this one one night because I was home alone, and even though I don't live in the woods, the dogs were just wanting out a bit too much for me to keep listening. It also got kind of gory in parts. Nothing too bad, but the author definitely describes the scene well enough that I could feel what happens to Reagan's ankle. Ugh. I even shivered just now thinking about it.
Definitely one to add to your TBR - especially with spooky season here!

A juicy YA thriller with just enough twists and turns to keep you guessing. Would recommend to anyone a fan of the genre!

I LOVED THIS BOOK!
This book had me GUESSING! I guessed about a hundred times who did it, and it took until the very end to get it right. This book is geared towards younger readers.
One quote from the book that I loved was “Even strong people need to fall apart..” and I felt this was the perfect audience to remind of this.
Thank you to the author, publisher and Net Galley for the chance to read this book prior to publication in exchange for an honest review.

I was iffy at first. The writing didn't stand out to me and it felt kind of rushed (I mean, look at the length of it). But it didn't take long before I was all in. The second it dived into the mystery, I was spending every moment trying to figure out what it was. When one door closed, a million doors opened and I needed to know who the killer was, how the main characters were related, what was going on, who was related to who. It all just swarmed together so well that I never wanted to stop reading. And it was easy and quick to just fly through it. I swear there were moments when I was trying to map everything out in my head. My brain probably looked like a crime board while reading this. I could not recommend this enough, a perfect summer mystery that will truly have you at the edge of your seat.

I absolutely loved the first book, How To Survive Your Murder. So much that I recommend it to everyone needing a classic fun YA thriller.
This second one, not so much.
Where the first had me flipping pages faster and faster to figure out what was going on, I was dragging slower than ever with Two Sides. It didn’t flow the easy way the first one did.
And it was predictable, so I didn’t feel a need to rush through it.
Overall, it’s a fine YA thriller, but didn’t live up to book 1.

My first book by Danielle Valentine and I definitely enjoyed it! It's that kind of book that once you start reading, you have to finish it otherwise your brain just won't be able to focus on anything at all!
I love that feeling when you're at the edge of your seat and just trying to figure things out, and even though in this book some things were a bit predictable, it still kept me engaged and in need to reach the end to know for sure what would happen.
I think this is a perfect summer read, it's quick paced, and the whole mystery and murders will definitely keep you invested.

I received a copy from the publisher via Netgalley for an honest review.
This novel was a WILD ride! I really liked in the chapters where we have flashbacks to the historical murder mystery that had occurred almost 20 years before. This novel is told from multiple points of view as our story unfolds and kept me guessing, quite a bit. However, the final ending (as in the last couple of pages) of this entire novel was SUPER surprising and unexpected!
This was an action packed novel and definitely kept me guessing and wanting to come back for more. The felt very much like a mix of murder mystery and horror novel, yet was a good read if you like either genre. I would highly recommend!

So I loved Danielle Valentine's How to Survive Your Murder and I was excited to have the chance to read this one.
So to me, the real main character was Camp Lost Lake where a bunch of brutal murders were committed and the camp was shut down. (its always a camp isn't it?) Now nearly 17 years later, its being reopened AND it just so happens that Olivia who was born during the period of the murders, decides to go back and find more out about that time.
There is also Reagan who is on the run with her mom who happened to be accused of the murders as well.
So come on, if this doesn't sound like a brilliant plot to a new Camp genre film (those that were famous in the 80s) I don't know what is.
Its filled with all the great things that made these camp thrillers so awesome. I mean think of Friday the 13th, the first one (and best one if you ask me) and the cheesy movie "Sleepaway Camp". I enjoyed it!

This was the perfect read for my otherwise distracted mind; it kept my interest while other things were swirling around me and I lost myself in the world of Camp Lost Lake. There were so many twists and turns that made me second guess any and all conclusions I had made and I loved following along as one truth after another was shattered. The writing was easy to follow, though, at times, I had a difficult time differentiating between the different narrators but, all in all, I enjoyed this story.

this was a rollercoaster!! non stop action from the very beginning!!
i will say, this is not the most ground breaking thriller out there. i did predict a few of the twists way before they happened. i still had a good time though! i listened to the audiobook in 1 sitting.
the plot is based around 2 unsolved murders & one disappearance that happened 16 years prior. it is told in present day dual pov with flashbacks. the setting was of an abandoned camp where the original murders happened on a stormy night which is obviously creepy and just added to the suspense of the story.
the conclusion came on a little fast but everything was wrapped up with an answer. the final chapter was shocking lowkey!!! not sure if it really needed to be there, but shocking nonetheless. the overall pacing kept me hooked the whole time though.
i’m not good at reviewing thrillers without giving anything away but i did enjoy this one, despite the somewhat predictability of it. i think if you don’t like ya books, you should probably stay away from this one. it’s definitely geared towards a younger audience.

Would recommend for fans of…

I was first introduced to Danielle Valentine through her adult debut, Delicate Condition, which was a favorite of mine when it came out last year, and after enjoying that one, I was eager to check out one of her YA titles.
Two Sides to Every Murder starts as a fairly straightforward summer camp slasher, following Olivia and Reagan, two teens with unique connection to several murders that took place at Camp Lost Lake seventeen years ago. Now, as the camp reopens, they’re thrust back into the spotlight when a new murder occurs on the property.
It’s hard to talk about the story without giving anything away, but Two Sides delicately straddles the line between horror and thriller, and has a unique element that left me screaming “WHAT?!” when I figured it out. From that point on, I was invested. The story is action-packed with great character development, and the ending….be prepared for another “WHAT?!” moment. I absolutely loved it. This is not one to be missed, so add this to your Halloween TBR ASAP!!
Two Sides to Every Murder is out now. Thanks to G.P. Putnam's Sons Books for Young Readers for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.

3.5 this was a fun fast paced thriller that I really enjoyed I liked the parallel time lines. I was so invested in who the parents were and who the murder was that I could not put down. The writing was easy to read and fast paced. I look forward to reading more from this author in the future. I would like to thank NetGalley and the publishers for a chance to read this book for an honest review.

Two Sides of Every Murder was such a good camp thriller! There was so many plot twists and turns. Danielle will keep you guessing until the very end in this fast paced, heart racing suspense thriller.

A pretty good ya mystery that teens would enjoy. The only reason why it wasn't a favorite for me is that the heroine pretty much got on my nerves from page one. But I'm also not a teenager anymore so not the target audience. But even I loved the mystery. It kept me on my toes.

4.25/5
I cannot believe this book doesn’t have 4 stars. This read like a YA Freida McFadden book
🎢 unexpected twists and turn
👥 multiple POVs
🔃 alternating timelines
🤯mind-blowing ending
Don’t just this book based on its goodreads ratings.
It is absolutely unputdownable.

In this gripping novel, the past is never truly buried, especially at Camp Lost Lake. The story centers around two young women, Olivia and Reagan, whose lives are inextricably linked to the infamous murders that occurred there seventeen years ago.
Olivia's seemingly perfect life is upended when she discovers that the man she calls dad is not her biological father. Desperate for answers about her true identity, she sets her sights on Camp Lost Lake, the site of her birth and the scene of the gruesome murders that have haunted her entire life.
Reagan, on the other hand, has spent her life on the run, shadowed by the stigma of being the daughter of the alleged Camp Lost Lake murderer. She believes in her mother's innocence and is determined to prove it, no matter the cost.
As Camp Lost Lake reopens, Olivia and Reagan's paths converge, each driven by a need to uncover the truth. But as they dig deeper, they realize that someone is willing to go to any lengths to keep the past hidden—including committing murder once again.
This novel is a masterclass in suspense, filled with twists and turns that keep you hooked until the very last page. The author skillfully weaves together the stories of two young women searching for the truth, while the dark secrets of Camp Lost Lake slowly unravel. If you’re a fan of thrillers that delve into the shadows of the past, this book is a must-read. It's a compelling exploration of identity, guilt, and the lengths people will go to protect their secrets—ensuring that this won’t be the last book you’ll pick up from this author.

YA thrillers always have a nostalgic Goosebumps vibe to them, and this one really cranks up the nostalgia by feeling like a cross between The Parent Trap and Friday the 13th. It was a twisty and super fun horror camp story. The setting was fantastic. There was a little bit of gore but nothing too bad, and overall, this one really had me hooked all the way through. The only thing I had a slight issue with was the ending. It seemed weird and somewhat confusing. I truly enjoyed this one and can't wait to read more by this author!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are my own.
