I absolutely love action movies. Assassins, secret agents, some type of critical mission? Sign me up. Reading this book gave me the same feels as my favorite action movies. As odd as it might sound, I love that this book was so realistic. There wasn't a magic wand for Seventeen to wave around and just fix all his problems and whatever situation he was in. He got hurt, he got in some sticky situations, and he had to use his head to figure things out. The mystery aspect of this book played a huge role in drawing me in and wanting to connect all the puzzle pieces. So, so happy I read this one! Absolutely loved it.
This is my first exposure to this author and I definitely was not disappointed. Brownlow has delivered a fast-paced story with well developed characters; it is a rollercoaster ride which I could not put down. I very much enjoyed the main character, Seventeen, and his struggles as the story plays out. The scenarios and story line crafted by the author are very real and especially frightening! Non-stop action with multiple twists and turns leaves you wondering at times who the good guys really were. It was so captivating and exciting that I simply couldn't put it down! I definitely look forward to reading other books by this author.
Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing who provided me with a copy of this book. I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Really enjoyed this book and will read Brownlow’s prior Assassin book. It’s pulp/it’s outlandish/and fun. But its will written and clever and exciting and different from books of its kind. If youre looking for well done escapist fiction—look no further.
I read my hardback copy of Seventeen just before I read Assassin Eighteen and it was as good, but not amazing. A bit of over the top action scenes, yet a good plot, and cast of characters. The story takes you to quite a few different countries, talks technology, and a lot of people
die. The ending left an opening for a follow up book, which I think should definitely happen.
Thanks to Harlequin Trade Publishing and NetGalley for the ARC and I recommend reading this book.
One of my favorite genres but this book took that premise and turned it around a bit. There were several parts of the book I did not see coming. I don't want to ruin them so I will be very broad. A good story that takes you to some interesting locations. I love the cat and mouse games throughout. Some very memorable characters. Plus a Tupelov. I did not see the ending coming but look very forward to more books in a hopefully to me something that becomes a series.
