The main characters were insufferable and made the story so unrealistic. Definitely wasn’t a fan and had to DNF because of how annoying they were and how cheesy the storyline as a whole was. No thanks.

I rushed through this and skimmed dialogue to finish this book. I only finished this book to know what happens. It was written in a way where the college aged kids felt like high schoolers. The way the college kids all spoke made them seem young and immature. I hope Farrah doesnt take Blake back. The only way I’d accept Farrah to take Blake back is if Cleo is lying about them sleeping together and her being pregnant with HIS kid. I just was bored and didnt enjoy the writing. Also what is the weird obsession about virginity???? So weird.

I was able to read a copy of this book through Netgalley and the publishers in exchange for an honest review.

😬 I’m so sorry, I really tried but it just was not for me. The tropes were just not troping me. The writing is fine, the authors style and ability is good but just not the story for me

If there is one thing I’d love to read less about in stories, it’s virgins. I wanted to love this because I really enjoy most of Ana Huang writing. But this was sadly just not for me. If you enjoy a messy drama filled pregnancy trope, you may really enjoy this. This is part one, so no HEA and there is the dreaded cheating trope as well. If this your first Ana Huang book, I recommend not judging her writing style purely from this story, as it is her earlier work.

... the entire second half of this book was a mess, and full of painful stuff I never wanna read. Like, there's a line between miscommunication and outright lying, and the MMC crossed that line 2 pages into the second half.

The first book in the In Love series by Ana and I’m HOOKED!

I love this semester abroad romance in Singapore! Blake and Farrah are perfect for each other in all their opposites! I loved both of their stories, the found family was so fun with all the kids, and the ENDING?! This cliffy had me sprinting to book 2!

Final Rating: 4.25⭐️, 2.5🌶️

Thank you NetGalley and Sourcebooks Bloom Books for an eARC of this book in exchange for my honest and free review!

I was hooked from the very first page. Ana Huang crafted a wonderful story of a close-knit group of study-abroad students in Shanghai. I loved reading the descriptions of the city through the eyes of the students. The backstories regarding how and why the students ended up in Shanghai had me feeling attached to all of them by the end of the novel. Farrah and Blake's love story was only one of many elements that made this novel well worth the read. I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys romance spiced up with travel and food. Can't wait to read the next book in the series as I want to know what happens next for Farrah and Blake.

Thank you to Ana Huang and NetGalley for the ARC and the opportunity to give my honest feedback.

I really enjoyed this super addictive romance.
Traveling abroad for school to Shanghai for a year was an amazing experience for this wonderful group of characters. So much fun, love and dreams to keep them bonded for hopefully a lifetime after.
The group of students in this novel are all from America. They grow close and enjoy each other's company through their time abroad. Certain friends couple off together like Blake and Farrah.
These two have and fun dynamic. They are destined to be together and when ablaze takes the one thing Farrah has linked to get rid of. It seems to seal the deal. Until the holidays come up and everything goes downhill from there.
Once inseparable, in love and happy as could be, these two no longer find comfort in their now terminated relationship and friendship.
I can't wait to read the next book in this series.  The characters are incredible. The story is fast paced and fun.
5stars.

Nope I’m not crying, you’re crying or you will be once you read this highly emotional and magnificent book! This is book 1 so please know that it’s far from over and thank goodness because OMG THE TEARS WON’T STOP!

This book highlights the beauty of first love. Of finding a love that will never end and will always be a part of who you are! Blake and Farrah my goodness….they are everything. I can see why this is a duet. There is so much to tell and to say and some love stories are more than just a meet cute and falling. This book highlights that sometimes life isn’t always easy but love even if for a moment is worth it.

I can not wait to dive into the next book because I need to know what is going to happen!

The love story between Farrah and Blake over the course of their study abroad year was such a sweet story until it wasn’t and things changed between them. Ana Huang did a great job with describing the family that the students all became and really got us in their emotions! This book is not all rainbows and butterflies which makes it relatable! The emotional roller coaster keeps me waiting for book 2!

This book frustrated me. One, it’s written in third person, but dual POV. Two,I hated the prologue. It told me in not so many words what was happening in this book. Then, the story introduced us to Blake and Farrah.

Here is what I liked:

The characters. My heart is with Blake. I don’t even care the what or the why… something happened and it’s a lie. I’m calling it here!

The story. They are both foreign exchange students in Shanghai and have mutual friends. They become friends until they are more. Ooohh sooo good, right?!?

The spice. It’s not a typical Ana Huang spice, but there were moments.

Overall, I enjoyed the book and I can’t wait to finish the duet and see what happens.

Rating: 4/5
Spice: 2/5
Tropes: friends to lovers,virgin h

This book had me in an emotional roller coaster from the prologue!!! You go into the book knowing there isn’t going to be a happy ending then you read how much Blake loved Farrah and how their relationship came to be, but the whole time you know it ends and you hate him for it. But you also want to like him because he’s always so sweet to her…like I said emotional roller coaster!
Blake and Farrah meet in Shanghai during their year studying abroad she’s from California and he’s a former football star from Texas. The star out as “enemies” but then it develops in to something much more. I feel for Farrah she trusted him with everything. He was her first and he cheated on her and broke her heart and said he never loved her. 😭 💔

I need to know what happens next, but not sure my heart can handle it 🤣 this is my first Anna Huang book and I can’t wait to read more! Thank you NetGalley and Bloom Books for giving me the opportunity to read this.

I loved this book. I'm so happy these are being officially published and hoping they get the attention they deserve. While I'm not the biggest fan splitting a romance novel in two. I agree that Farrah and Blake's story needed it. I can't wait for the rest of series to release and I'll be right there when it does.

Thank you Ana Huang and NetGalley for the eARC!

Fun, college romance set in a foreign city that explores the complications first loves and heartbreak. While somewhat predictable, the story was lighthearted and an easy read with a complete cliffhanger of an ending.

A sweet and spicy romance! As a long-time fan of the author, I was absolutely delighted with this story. A must-read for any romance fan!

This is my first Ana Huang book, although I'm well aware of many of her series. It was a quick, easy read. Pacing was pretty drawn out. There were a lot of secondary characters that didn't have much depth aside from providing a group that allow the MCs to either a) hide or b) have some not-so-subtle self-reflective conversations.

The romance was pretty obvious from the jump, the story line was uncomplicated, and the second book is clearly set up--which means I'm going to continue reading about Farrah and Blake's story.

Overall: 3 stars (I liked it)

This was my first Ana book and it's was great, it was slower than I thought it would be but I wasn't disappointed.
I would recommend it as an intro book to her writing because it got me interested in reading her other books, and you can only go up!

I was excited to see I was approved for this but was unfortunately let down. This isn’t my favorite book she’s written. It was too slow for me and honestly just filled with a bunch of hormone filled college kids. Troupes weren’t a favorite of mine but I can look past it. I will not continue with this series.
