This book started off slow for me but really picked up at about 50%. I became attached to the characters and was rooting for them. I know book 2 will tell more of their story and I can’t wait to read that one to see how it come back together.

One year can change everything...
Farrah Lin, a 19-year-old on her year abroad in Shanghai, is ready to fall in love for the first time. But when the object of her affection is her friend's boyfriend, things get complicated. Enter Blake Ryan—a former college football star escaping his past. With his cocky attitude and irresistible dimples, he's everything Farrah shouldn't want, but can't resist.
Blake is determined to keep his life simple: no football, no commitments, and definitely no romance. Yet, he can't ignore the beautiful brunette who keeps crossing his path and invading his heart.
As Farrah and Blake explore the magic of Shanghai and their undeniable chemistry, what starts as a physical attraction grows into something deeper. But with only one year together, can their love survive the obstacles ahead, or is it destined to be a fleeting romance?
💖 If We Ever Meet Again is a steamy, emotional journey from strangers to friends to lovers. Get ready to be swept off your feet by this unforgettable romance! 💖

Ana Huang, you did it again. I have read Ana's Twisted series and it is what turned me into a fan of hers and into the modern romance genre.
I was so excited to see her books come up and had to jump in to get to read them. If We Ever Meet Again is set in Shanghai University with college students navigating life in international studies. Farah and Blake are truly so easy to fall for, of course we get the strong and independent with the charismatic but broken duo and I will never get tired of this kind of pairing, with this kind of chemistry.
Huang really knows how to build the tension while also getting the reader involved in the other characters in the story, you care about their lives and the complexities of young adulthood and growing up. There is love but there is also heartbreak and this story delivered it all beautifully. If We Ever Meet Again is so engaging and had me gripped I didn't want to put the book down until I could read the very last word. The story is well developed along with the characters and the world they live in, I cannot wait to read the rest of this series.
Thank you so much to Ana Huang and Sourcebooks Bloom Books for this ARC!

not knowing ana huang had a backlist will forever haunt me WHAT. after the popularity of her later series, i was curious to see what her other books had to offer, and i do have to say i believe her strongest books yet are the twisted series. this one had me reeling from beginning to end and i was fully engaged with the story, but the plot line and romance are incomparable to me personally to what i’ve seen from her elsewhere. overall enjoyable though!

I believe I have completely jumped in the Ana Huang fan club. I don’t think she could ever write a story that would never be good. I love her style of writing and how her characters converse. In this particular book, I loved the friendship ring that formed and of course, the young love. Ohhhhhh, to feel that young, adventurous and alive with love!
Thank you to Knopf Sourcebooks Bloom Books and Netgalley for an ARC. All opinions are my own.

As usual, I love anything that Ana Huang writes! I really enjoyed reading If We Ever Meet Again. I'm not particularly fond a cheating or suspected cheating trope, but asides from that I did enjoy how fast paced it was and the romance.

I enjoyed this author’s other books, but struggled to get into this one. The main characters felt a little flat, and, as a personal preference, I do not particularly enjoy cheating or omissions of truth in fiction.

Thank you Ana Huang & Netgalley for the e-arc. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Boy oh boy did I struggle to read this book. I think the main struggle was that the MCs seemed a tad immature.... I liked Ana's Twisted and Kings series, but unfortunately this one missed the mark for me.

I was so excited when I got this book seeing as how much I loved the twisted series so far! But this book just didn’t do it for me. I couldn’t stand the MMC and it just really aggravated me the whole time that I almost didn’t finish the book. Sad that this book didn’t hit the mark for me, I was really looking forward to it.

Ah, Blake and Farrah. Huang wrote your story perfectly.
College students studying abroad, not knowing what would happen afterwards in a long-distance relationship but willing to test the waters and see.
Blake decided to leave football to do what he really wanted in regard to his future and his parents, who seem to be overbearingly trying to run his life, don't like it. He's a player with a past.
Farrah is seemingly naive and innocent.
In the end, they work for each other and fall very quickly. But will it last?
Blake and Farrah were great characters. Huang made them with care and they played their roles with precision.
I can't say I was a huge fan of the side characters, their friends or ex "friends". Knowing Huang we will be seeing them in the next books. She's brilliant at connecting them all.
Overall this book was great as a paper copy and audio book. Will be recommending.

An extremely unlikeable male MC who walks all over the female MC. I want to read about strong women who find love, not simpering doormats who settle for the first jackass who pays attention to them. It's not fun. It's not entertaining.

I am kind of hit or miss with Ana Huang books, I love the Kings of Sin series, but can not get into the Twisted series. The plot did not really capture my attention as king wrath did. I know this was a rerelease so it probably reflects her earlier writing. It does show she has progressed very well, since I do enjoy her later work. Or maybe it might be my aversion to book tok, that gives me preconceived notions about popular books. I received an ARC through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

If we ever meet again is about first love, heartbreak, friendship and life in general.
Starting off in the prologue I was hooked and it automatically lets you know that something bad was going to happen later on with the MMC and the FMC but I was not at all expecting to have my heart broken. After the prologue I kind of felt like the story was a little slow moving but it soon picked up pace. I loved how Blake and Farahs friendship gradually grew into a relationship which to me is more realistic. The banter between the two of them and their friends had me smiling and laughing to the point I actually forgot about how the book started. So I was not at all ready for the wrench that was thrown into this and thats when you really understand the plot of the whole book. I was expecting things to be sweet and to eventually end with a happy ending. Ana Huang absolutely crushed my heart to the point I was in tears. Although I'm heartbroken about it I'm also not mad about it either. I love when an author can make me cry and feel all the things the characters are going through and that's exactly what Ana Huang did.
This book doesn't really leave you on a cliff hanger it does leave you wanting more and needing to know what happened to them later on in life. It will leave you asking the questions Do they ever see each other again and if they do is there still a chance for them?
Now I will say this I have my suspicions of a certain character being an absolute liar and I'm not a fan of Blake's mom she is also suspicious. You'll understand what I mean when you read this book. Which I absolutely recommend you doing.
This is the first time I've ever read a book by Ana Huang and I think I'm now officially a fan of hers. Also this is not a Dark Romance from what I've been told some of her other books are so keep that in mind when you go to read this.

I am a fan of Ana Huang's Twisted and Kings of Sin book series, and was really looking forward to reading the first installment of the If Love series. Unfortunately, there were some things that inhibited my enjoyment of the story. My primary issue with the novel was the inclusion of the cheating trope, which made my reading experience slightly unbearable. This is most definitely a 'me' problem, and I am not saying that this is an objective problem with the book. In fact, I can see how other readers may enjoy the execution of this trope and thus the book in general. For me, though, I feel as if my mind partially checked-out once the trope was introduced, and I was completely taken out of the story. If I'm being honest, I had a sigh of relief once I was finally able to mark it as 'Read' on my Kindle.
The writing and characterization are also on the more simplistic side, which makes sense given that If We Ever Meet Again precedes the entirety of Huang's backlist. It isn't bad, per se, but it was another facet of the text that I wasn't a fan of.
Thank you to the publisher via NetGalley for providing me with a copy of If We Ever Meet Again by Ana Huang in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own and are not influenced by any third parties.

I love Ana Huang books but this one just didn’t do it for me like the twisted series and the kings of sin series.
This pissed me off so bad, I hated how it ended. Blake is just an idiot, how he did Farrah at the end of the book, jail!!!

First I would like to thank SOURCEBOOKS Bloom Books for providing me an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
This is the story of Farrah Lin and Blake Ryan, college students who are participating in the same study abroad program in Shanghai. Blake is a former football player who won multiple national championships and is used to girls swooning in his presence, until he meets Farrah who is not impressed and is crushing on her friend's boyfriend. The two start spending more time together and Blake breaks down some of Farrah's barriers and Farrah starts having quite inappropriate thoughts about Blake. When they do get together its clear the two fall fast and hard constantly supporting each other's dreams and plan for the future. When they come back from break, Blake is acting odd until it finally comes to a head and breaks up with Farrah telling her it was just a fling and didn't mean anything. Farrah leaves Shanghai with a broken heart and a plan to never fall in love again.
What I Loved:
- Blake, this is the very typical Texan football player who is so used to getting constant attention from everyone and is intrigued by the one who doesn't care
- Friends, the group of friends Blake/Farrah has in the Shanghai program are such a fun mix of people who are there for each other and will push when needed
- Study abroad, I loved my study abroad experience and I think this book did a great job at making you feel you are away from home with there characters
- Spicy, once Blake and Farrah get together they don't waste to much time getting together and its hot
Overall I really liked this book, I could pretty much figure out all of the reasons why Blake ended up breaking up with Farrah so it was a bit frustrating to read toward the end but it kept me hooked for the second book in the duology of their story. If you are looking for a book that really encompasses a great love story set in an amazing location with a great group of supporting characters and some moments where you just want to shake the characters until they make better decisions then run and get this book, and the second one cause this one ends on a cliffhanger, aka no HEA.

Ana Huang is a great author! Having read the Twisted series by This such author, I was thrilled to come across her newest one of hers. I enjoyed her main characters and development of plot throughout the story. I was intrigued and invested in several characters of the story as well as contemporary romance elements. I recommend this book to fans if Tessa Bailey, Taylor Jenkins Reid and Rebecca Yarros.

I AM EMOTIONALLY BROKEN AFTER THIS BOOK!!! Ana who hurt you ? And why did you have to take it out on me!! I was kicking my feet and living for the flirty dynamic and sexual tension of the enemies to lovers vibe they had going on and then you completely shattered my heart by the betrayal Blake has done to poor sweet Farrah!? Though I will say this was a 10/10 I also want to say I couldn’t really see the Blake Ryan name, sorry but the 16 candles romcom in me kept thinking Jake Ryan!!

From the opening pages, I was sucked into this book, With the backdrop of a Shanghai university and a group of young adults navigating International studies you immediately fall in love with the characters. Farah is strong and independent and Blake is charming and broken and from the start theey have undeniable chemistry. Add in the complexities of their friends lives and you have a page turning tale. The book explores young love, passion, and friendship and heartbreak. Huang expertly builds the tension between the main characters and you can feel their connection. Hunag does not shy away from the complexities of relationships, heartbreak and love. Huang's storytelling was engaging and the characters are well developed. You will be yearning to read the next book as soon as you finish the last page.

3 stars
Ok, While I did not hate this book… I did not love it either. This book is a new adult contemporary romance, following multiple perspectives. The setting was amazing, all the things the characters did and experienced sounded exciting and so beautiful. This whole group experiencing these new things for the first time together adds a unique and special bond for them and I love the idea of being able to study abroad and I was hungry the whole time while reading this, with all the restaurants and food stands that were mentioned.
That being said, the romance and the relationship was only fine for me. It was just lacking some for me, the build up and chemistry I wanted more for them as well as how the book ended for them. It just did not give me the feelings I was looking for. But I did enjoy the story and plot so I rated it 3 stars and the spice is about a 2.
I received an ebook, via Netgalley. This review is my own honest opinion.
