** spoiler alert ** 2.5/3 stars for this one. This story follows the love story of two characters who are part of a larger friend group. Spoiler: pregnancy and cheating trope really ruined this one for me and I can almost guess the plot twist that occurs in the next book. The Insta love gave me the ick. What I loved was the friend group and their dynamic and personalities. Thank you to NetGalley, Ana Huang, and Bloom Books for the complimentary ARC of this book.

If We Ever Meet Again by Ana Huang is a sweet, yet heartbreaking tale of first love and finding oneself. This novel is a very fast read and it keeps the reader hooked for every page, which made it one that I enjoyed immensely.

Farrah and Blake could not be more different at first glance. She is somewhat reserved and down to earth with a very certain idea of what she wants to do with her life and how she plans to get there. Which means she has no time for a cocky, ladies man who is unlikely to take a relationship serious and will inevitably break her heart. Except said cocky, former football player reels her in despite her reluctance and proves himself to be much deeper than his surface persona presents. Farrah was such a relatable character and I really enjoyed reading the story from her point of view as a result. She proves herself to be much more than she at first appears, revealing a confidence and bravery in moments that made me like her all the more because she doesn’t let things like fear and inexperience stop her when others might be prone to giving up.

Blake is the antithesis of the meathead football player that people assume he is. His character was great because he proves this time and again when people want to pigeon-hole him into the sport he has spent so much of his time and focus on. The problem is, he does this to please other people rather than himself. I loved Blake for his bravery in standing up to people’s expectations of him, and for turning away from the certainty of a successful, money-strewn career in order to find something he is actually passionate about. Football would be the easy choice for him, and one guaranteed to make him rich, but he explores other options despite all of the pressure put on him by the people in his life because he realizes he is doing it for them, not himself. This is true of other areas of his life as well, such as who he is expected to marry, and where he is expected to settle down, and he fights to find his own place in the world by going to Shanghai for his year abroad in school and trying to find what calls to him as a potential career.

Farrah and Blake were hard not to love together immediately. From the first interaction the two of them had together I loved their banter and chemistry so much. Though certainly cocky, Blake has this ability to be charming and so it’s difficult to not be drawn in by him and his personality. Watching them find themselves and navigating a growing bond is everything and I could not get enough of them, especially together.

However, these two are not the only highlights of this book. I also absolutely adored the side characters. The little family they are a part of which they find in their fellow students abroad is heartwarming and the purest part of the book. They are all so different, yet they find this closeness with each other because of their circumstances, forming relationships they never would have had the chance to, or have been likely to had they not gone away for school. The scenes with all of them exploring places together and forming close friendships were some of my favourite and really drew me into this story.

All together it was a very enjoyable read and the ending left me needing the sequel because so much is left up in the air. I can’t wait to dive into the second book because I absolutely need closure on events that took place and where all of the characters end up post-Shanghai.

Thank you to SOURCEBOOKS and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC of this re-release.

I haven't had a chance to dive into Ana Huang's other books yet but I can say with certainty that this one just didn't do it for me. If We Ever Meet Again definitely reads like a debut novel (and reminds me why I tend to stay away from debuts in the first place). I didn't particularly vibe with the FMC, Farrah and found her a little insufferable. However, the romance was sweet and I enjoyed the setting of college in Shanghai. The love story itself was well done and we got to watch the characters grow and change. There were also some tropes that I don't always enjoy but found myself interested when it came to Blake and Farrah. This book was also definitely spicy with believable scenes that had me curling my toes and devouring the pages.

I would recommend this book romance readers who don't mind a little bit of awkward dialogue but enjoy a healthy dose of spice with enjoyable characters.

This was a super quick and easy romance read. I can tell by the writing that this is the authors first book but I still liked the story and characters enough to keep reading. I didn’t know when I started this that it was a duology. Might end up reading the second book at some point but I don’t feel a rush at the moment

Woah. So this book starts with a break up and then goes back in time 8 months. So the fact that they will definitely break up lives in the back of your mind the whole time. You are essentially waiting for the shoe to drop. I know that there usually will be a breakup in the third act anyay… but this seems different!

He's sleeping with someone else at 30% and I am appalled. Is this actually a romance? Even at 60% I was just not really feeling things or their connection. I don't know if it was knowing it ends in a break up and is book one of a duet, but I'm seriously considered putting it on pause. Unfortunately, I didn’t because… this book was THE WORST.

Spoilers Ahead***

He cheats on her and gets his ex pregnant and basically destroys her heart and acts like a huge dick rather than telling her. The only redemption that could POSSIBLY win favour for Blake in book 2 would be to find out that he didn't actually sleep with Cleo and that the baby is someone else's is. But even then, I don't think I'd want Farrah to go back to him. Worst f*cking book boyfriend.

Aside from the most hated tropes to exist being used, both Farrah and Blake did not have a lot of personality or really even much chemistry. I almost wish this had been a story between Farrah and Leo.

I will not be reading book 2, as I'll just live with the fact that Blake is an a**hole who doesn't deserve Farrah and in my mind, she finds someone else who has better communication skills

Tropes (Kind of spoil things): college student, travel abroad, cheating, surprise pregnancy, virgin

Honestly, I really enjoyed this. Is it deep and meaningful? No, but I didn’t pick it up for that. It has Huang’s well-known spice with relatable characters in a fun setting. Not life-changing, but exactly what I was expecting!

Many thanks to the publisher, Netgalley, and the author for my ARC.

Opening a romance novel with a breakup scene wasn't what I was expecting at all! I spent the whole book dreading and just knowing it was coming even through Blake and Farah's beautiful relationship. I loved their banter when they were just friends as they slowly realize they're perfect for each other. But then, the breakup! Even knowing it was coming... just rip out my heart and stomp on it! I requested this book on NetGalley dreading waiting for the next book to publish only to realize the series is already finished!!! Please Ana don't fail me with an HEA after that emotional ride lol!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Thank you for this arc
This book was really sweet. I truly enjoyed the vibes and culture. The little love stories sprinkled throughout with friendships and lovers.
It was heartbreaking. And I’m so sad for Blake and Farrah. I can’t wait to read the next book to find out what happens next! Some details fell flat for me. The time lapses were a bit weird and I feel like we didn’t get much info about Blake’s side of things with Cleo and Landon. I feel like something is off with his sister I’m not sure. But hopefully the next book has a bit more info on those subjects.

They could never make me hate an Ana Huang book!!!

If we ever meet again was such a great start to the If Love series. IWEMA was very well written and really grabs the readers attention. The ending shocked me but it was soo good. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series

I was not very impressed with this one and probably won’t continue the series.

I’m honestly shocked this is the same author that wrote the Twisted series and Kings of Sin series. This fell so flat and I struggled so many times to get through it. It was unbelievable and the characters were so irritating and felt disconnected.

2.5 rounded up to 3.

This a story of young love and heart break. It's the first book in the series. It follows Farrah Lin. She's in Shanghai studying abroad when she falls in love with Blake. This is the first Ana Huang book I've read, I really enjoyed it. I can't wait for the next book.

Thank you to NetGalley, SOURCEBOOKS Bloom Books and Ana Huang for the opportunity to read this ARC.

I loved the prologue of this book it had me hooked at page 1. Some of the characters were not likeable but others were very good. The drama took on a whole character itself and some of the drama i didn't think was necessary.

Even though some of the characters were not likeable the character build was great. I thought the book had a good plot and i really like her writing.

Thanks NetGalley for letting me read and review.

While the prologue had me hooked further reading left me feeling a little underwhelmed. I wish we had more from the Shanghai setting. The side characters were okay. Didn't really understand some of the drama in the book either.

The main characters were interesting. The character development was really good in my opinion. However with the dual timelines I felt like we were missing some things. Also, not a big fan of third act breakups. After the cliffhanger I'd be interested in reading the next one.

Thank you to NetGalley and bloom books for the arc.

Not how I expected one of Ana Huang's books to go but it was sort of refreshing? She now has books that's for everyone!

Blake and Farah had an easy fast burn romance that didn't hold back on hurrying the romance. There was no suspense and there was no sizzling fire that occurred. It was just a wholesome book which is great but not my cup of tea. Felt like I was reading more of a high school romance rather than college. The wholesome story line is cute but I wish there was a dash of more spice and some action. There was a plot twist towards the end but that was all the action we got!

Perfect for someone who was the mildest spicy moments, study abroad romance, wholesome college romance, the one that got away type of stuff.

Overall Rating: 2.5/5 (will round to 3 since it wasn't bad)
Spicy Rating: 1/5
Made Me Blush Rating: 1/5
Would I recommend? Eh...not really
Version: Kindle e-book

This was a fun cute easy read! It was a bit cheesy at times and the love story felt a little rushed but it was still an enjoyable read and left me smiling. Will recommend and add to our library!

If We Ever Meet Again by Ana Huang was a sweet story following Farrah and Blake. I liked that we got to see their friendship develop before they became romantic. I thought this book was good, but not my favorite writing that the author has done before. However, I am excited that there is another novel so hoping to give it another shot.

I went into this book blind and feel I should have skipped over the prologue because it really gives away what’s going to happen in the story. In regard to the story, I liked the friendship between the characters. Some of them annoyed me from time to time and I found the dialogue was a little cheesy. I had to remind myself that the characters are young and learning how to navigate life/things that happen (and obviously don’t know how to take accountability so they take the easy way out.) Overall, this was a pretty quick read and does end on a bit of a cliffhanger so as much as I wasn’t a huge fan I’ll probably still read the second book to see what happens.

Thank you SOURCEBOOKS Bloom Books and NetGalley for the ARC!

I enjoyed this sweet romance. I have never read Ana Huang's work but this book has piqued my interest in seeking out her other works. I felt a little bit as though Farrah and Blake's love story was a little rushed, but I think that the rest of the series will tell the fully story.

Thank you again for the ARC!
