Thank you to Netgalley and the author for this book. I will never look at doughnut shops the same again. Poor Tuesday was just trying to go about her day. Being from a small town you can see this town and its people as people from your town. This book kept me guessing through out.

Love the title and found the book/story to be quite a good cosy mystery which I enjoyed. The book involves food, crazy and unique characters and murder. What is not to like. Well I must admit for such a short story there was a lot going on and a lot to get your head around as well as the writing. Some parts just didn't gel for me but overall it was an entertaining read.

Thank you NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.

Doris and Rose are two women who are overly caring by allowing greed and selfishness to twist their emotions. One had her eyes on, till death, do us part greedily, and the other must travel to Paris by any means. Harley and Tuesday's heads clash in this murder investigation, with the clues leading them on a twisted trail with many players and none playing fair. It was intriguing, captivating, and very entertaining.

I am not sure about this one, being a Brit I sometimes find US Private Investigator stories a little odd. Do PI's really ask such intrusive questions and act the way they are portrayed in fiction? Worth a go if you like this kind of thing.

Thank you NetGalley, publishers, and D.J. Adamson for gifting me a copy of Cookin’ up Murder in return for my honest opinion.

2.5/5 stars

Tuesday is a hot mess, she is always late to everything but when Harley has to go out of town for there detective agency she has to step up and be early for once. The last thing she needs is to find the owner of Mr. Yummy’s, her favorite bakery dead with his head in a vat of hot oil. Can she figure out the clues and figure out what is going on? Will she be able to keep her cool even when the case goes deeper than some deep fried donuts?

Favorite quote
- "My aunt Fran said that if you stir up a pot, you better know what you are cooking
so you don’t get burned.
I wish there was more that loved about this book but there really wasn't.

What I liked
- I enjoyed the plot there were plenty of twists and turns to keep you entertained to make it so it was predictable
- The letter at the end was a cute touch.

What I didn’t like
- There is so much going on, there are only 144 pages in this book and with everything that happened there needed another hundred. Everything was so rushed I felt like this book was a sprint instead of a nice jog.
- There were a few points in this book that I had to reread parts multiple times because I was so confused. Most of the time it didn’t help.
- The beginning of this book read like a bad smut book written by a man, for example
- “I stepped out of the shower suffering a chilly assault, sending a body shiver down my spine to my nipples to my toes”
- “I quickly dried myself, swiftly putting on my undies like a women whose boyfriends wife just arrived home”
- I almost DNF after those but weirdly it was the only moment in this book that seemed sexually charged.

Final thoughts

There was so potential to this story, the plot was entertaining but it needed more details to make it a smoother read.

Cookin’ Up Murder
A light cozy mystery with an engaging heroine in Tuesday Weld. Tuesday and Harley Davidson are private investigators in a small Oregon town. On her way to work a few days before Christmas Tuesday finds a body at the donut shop. At first it is thought to be an accident but later ruled a homicide.
At first it is thought to be Eric but then told the victim is Sam - identical twin brothers. Add in a missing cousin and a missing cat - Tuesday is quite busy following clues. There are enough twists and turns that keep you guessing about the killer.
I enjoyed reading this book - it was a fast read and very entertaining. I hope there are more with Davidson and Weld Investigations.

I enjoyed this book. It was a quick read and loved the humor of Tuesday, the main character. It was a great cozy winter feel, coming from Minnesota, I could relate to the weather issues. It had good plot twists but I struggled with the end motive of the character. It would have been nice to dig a bit deeper in that. Otherwise, it's a quick fun read with good twists.

#COOKINUPMURDER #NetGalley is a good mystery that really kept surprising me throughout the story.
Tuesday is a private investigator, but discovering the body of a local business owner sets her on a bizarre investigation.
She knows what she saw, but then, she sees the victim at home, is she seeing things?
This fast paced cozy mystery will appeal to any reader who likes a real whodunit.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for selecting me to read an advanced copy of the book.

A grizzly way to die! And the whole twin thing makes it so much more difficult. Who would want a baker to die? The twists and turns add to the story. The gal that finds him must figure it out? Well she does have the qualifications. But is she up for the challenge? I liked the story.

This is the first book in a new series. I found it to be super entertaining, one minute you'll be laughing at the main characters antics, and the next minute you'll be eagerly turning the page to see what happens next.
A thoroughly enjoyable read.

This was an entertaining book. It’s a cozy mystery that happens to feature PIs rather than the usual amateur sleuth. Although I did guess one of the main points of the story- who the victim was, there were still a few twists and turns to the plot. The one thing that was a bit odd to me was that there were references to past cases when this is the first book in the series.

The premise of this book really intrigued me - death at a doughnut shop, sounded fun.

This is quite a short book at 180 pages and I feel it could've been longer to flesh out parts of the story and develop the characters. On the other hand some paragraphs felt unnecessary and things over described.

Over all I enjoyed the story and will probably read the second when released next year.

If you want an easy 'light' mystery this could be for you. It could also make the perfect palette cleanser between darker books.

I’m so happy I got a chance to read an advanced copy of this book. I loved that the setting was in Oregon (where I’m originally from), and I loved the storyline. I was entertained the entire book and loved the imagery described as well as the characters. DJ Adamson is a new to me author and I can’t wait to read more by them.

I just read this book and it was enjoyable. I love snow and mysteries, so this was the right blend for me. It was a fast paced and quick read, so give it a read and you may have found a new series to read like I have.

First off this book is feels fairly short for a full length novel, the pacing moves fast. I liked that the investigation went somewhere the whole time not just in circles. I did guess the switch early on, it’s a pretty classic feature in twin stories. Having driven in snow, I was surprised that the characters were all able to move around so easily considering how much it was snowing and the amounts they were getting in the story. #CookinUpMurder #NetGalley
