I enjoyed this story! Donna Grant knows how to create stories that lure you in slowly, tantalize you with the vivid details and well-developed characters, and then gives you an ending that makes you desire more…and she has done no different with this book. I recommend this story to all who enjoy a little magic and mystery with their romance.

Reign is for those readers looking for dark and adventurous stories. It's a mix of plot and character-driven with magical realism.

I read two Donna Grant books this year. Neither was appealing. I will not be reading her novels in the future.

At last! Malene gets her story! This could be a standalone but go back and read the others first- they will enrich this story tremendously. Malene and Armir’s story is as good as I hoped, except for the pacing. A little slow at the beginning and a little rushed at the end. With that said, this was a great trilogy!

Donna just rips your heart out, only to hand it back some pages later… Malene was thought dead, but she was awoken a different person: Dagny, with no memories to her past. Amir has always loved Malene and after her – supposedly – death he was devastated. But now, she seems to be alive. Yet, not. She is not the woman she was. But Amir is determined to find his Malene back in the Dagny he has found. Sealing them together in a cave, without magic is his last effort to get her to regain her memories.

But of course, Donna style, there will be twists and turns. And just when you think everything will go to hell, she sweaps in and changes the course of the story.

In all, a very humble and heartbroken story from Donna. Four out of five stars from me and a special thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc.

I have been provided with a review copy of Reign from NetGalley for an impartial review. This book was just so easy to get lost in. I completely got lost in the story and I just loved getting to see these new characters come together. I just absolutely love this story and I just didn’t want to put it down. I can’t wait to see what’s next from this author.

Great read! When a strong female who looses her memory goes against a strong male who loves her, who wins?

After the battle, against Sybil, Malene disappears and is believed dead. For a year she has lived as Dagny, a witch in Norway not knowing who she is. Amir finds her and holds her captive hoping to get her memory to return. Amir seeks to bring Malene back to him but others are seeking to stop him.

Good story.

This is book 3 in the Kindred series and while it could be read as a standalone, I would read the other books before it just so you understand things better, and have a fuller understanding of this group. Magic holds both beauty and danger. As Lady of the Varroki, Malene was powerful and revered. But after a battle, she awakens in Norway as Dagny, a witch with no memories of her past. Her identity fragmented, Dagny finds herself entangled in a life far removed from the path she once trod and seduced by the lure of power. Until that need shifts to passion for the one who has imprisoned her, hoping to make her remember. As a warrior and the Lady’s right hand, Armir will not stop searching for Malene. When he does, she’s not the woman he remembers. Driven by an undying love that transcends the boundaries of time and space, Armir risks everything for her. But enemies lurk in the shadows, waiting to strike. Will he and Malene overcome their pasts to find a future together?

So while I really enjoyed this story, I felt like a lot of it was about these characters and their pasts together. And I get that it was necessary, just so that she could regain her memories-but sometimes I felt like the present was overlooked. I'm not sure that these two were my favorite either. Armir because, although I understood why, he imprisoned her in a cave. Malene just seemed off. I didn't quite get how she came to be someone who craved power, no matter what. I also didn't quite get how she didn't retain any portion of Dagny after getting her memories back. It was still a part of her, but it was like it was completely snuffed out. Overall, it was a good read-it just wasn't my favorite of the series. Some people will probably still love it, but unfortunately I just liked it.

Enduring love…

I wasn’t sure where Malene and Armir’s story could go. I really wasn’t. From a revered Lady, honored by the Varrocki, Malene seemed to be lost to the other side. To a side directly at odds with Armir and the land, the people, they both professed to love. Their journey was one of endurance and heartbreak, and, ultimately, the power of love…

The author has created some of the greatest battles and loves and this, the last in the extended series, felt like a nod to all that had come before. What is love and when does it end? Can it endure even as everything says it shouldn’t? Armir’s devotion was humbling and caused even Malene to question her unwavering view…

Honestly, I wasn’t sure if they would be able to find each other again after all that had happened but somehow, they, thankfully, found a way. Full of the action and mystic that I’ve come to expect, this was the perfect ending – full of love and hope…

3.75stars- REIGN is the third instalment in Donna Grant’s adult KINDRED: THE FATED erotic, paranormal/fantasy romance series, set in the author’s World of the Kindred. This is Lady of the Varroki Malene, and warrior Armir’s story line. REIGN can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous storyline is revealed where necessary.

Told from omniscient dual third person perspectives (Malene and Armir) REIGN follows in the aftermath of the capture and imprisonment of Malene aka Dagny. For years, Armir has been the protector and guardian of Malene, Lady of the Varroki but a battle for control sends Malene to Norway, where she will awaken as Dagny, a witch who has lost her memories of the past. To protect the Varroki from the woman with whom Armir has fallen in love, Armir magically traps Dagny in a cave, a trap from which she cannot escape until her memories return but all is not well when a coven of witches and warlocks hunts down our story line couple, in an effort to take back control, and destroy the man with whom Malene aka Dagny has fallen in love.

The relationship between Malene and Armir begins as guardian and prisoner. Malene now calls herself Dagny, and believes Armir and his people are determined to kill the people with whom Malene recently has lived. As Armir tried desperately to help Malene with the return of her memories, someone else is targeting our story line couple. The $ex scenes are limited but passionate without the use of over the top sexually graphic language and text.

There are a limited number of secondary and supporting characters as Malene and Armir spend most of their time together in a cave fortified by Armir’s magic. Upon their eventual capture, we are introduced to Jean, a powerful witch who is desperate for revenge for the death of her sister, as well as the return of Jarin and Helena.

REIGN is a quick read; a story of power and control, betrayal and vengeance, magic and the supernatural, acceptance and love. The fast paced premise is enchanting; the romance is seductive; the characters are dynamic and desperate.

This is the third installment of the "Kindred: The Fated Series," the mesmerizing fusion of Scottish and Norse traditions enthralled me. The protagonist, Malene, Lady of the Varroki, vanishes during a battle only to awaken as Dagny in Norway, devoid of her memories. As Armir, Lady's right hand, tirelessly searches for her, their reconnection is marked by a poignant transformation. Grant skillfully navigates the internal struggles of these characters, especially Armir, who takes bold steps to help Malene regain her lost memories. Against lurking enemies, the story beautifully unfolds the timeless and passionate love between Armir and Malene. Grant's storytelling prowess immerses readers in a magical world, skillfully balancing the elements of romance, amnesia, and the duo's quest for a shared future. This book captivates with its rich narrative and the undeniable allure of a love that defies time and space constraints.

Marlene, a witch who was once Lady of the Varroki, has no memory after a battle one day. Now she goes by Dagny and her lust for power is blinding her but is suddenly kidnapped and held prisoner by Armir. Armir, the Lady of the Varroki’s right hand and accomplished warrior, has kidnapped Dagny in hopes she can regain her memories and rejoin the Varroki. When the sparks of passion between them are lit others seek to destroy them.

“Reign” by Donna Grant was a fun read. I liked Armir’s character a lot and his intentions and actions always made sense. Dagny though was confusing, her being power hungry which caused Armir to lock them in the cave wasn’t thoroughly explained and her need for it and ended up being so minor in the story that I felt it was just an excuse for them being together in the cave. I liked the romance and the peril in the plot. I love Donna Grant’s other works and I always enjoy reading her books. 4 out of 5 stars.

Reign is the final book in the Kindred Series. Finally, we can get closure on Malene, Lady of the Varroki, and Armir, but I never wanted it to end…alas :) - Their final story begins in a cave, not Plato’s cave, but a cave nonetheless. Amir has sequestered them both here, with no magic, no exit. Malene begins this journey as Dagny, with no memory of her prior life as Lady of the Varroki - as their story unfolds it is evident that the two are fated to be together. As Dagny roams through the cave the first time it reminds me of how she is searching her mind for a memory that once was, but now is dark. Only the light led her through the darkness. It was a great story and an excellent way to wrap the series, and a few surprises on the way to the HEA. Thank you, Donna Grant, excellent as always.

I have been a huge fan of the series since it’s conception. Malene and Armir have been my favorites throw this whole series. Their love has spans decades. This was totally worth the wait and I would definitely recommend the whole series.

Really enjoy the amnesia scenario, and a deep love being the catalyst to bring her memory back. Not fully a fan of Malene/Dagny; she doesn’t exactly have the best of intentions at times, but I do appreciate her tenacity. Armir does what he can to help bring back Malene’s memories before she can do anything more that she’ll regret. Unfortunately, there are those that do not want Armir to succeed. A bit of fun danger to be had! An entertaining read!

Reign is an emotional story about a love big enough to overcome just about anything.

The things I enjoyed most about this book: Armir and Malene spent a lot of time alone in the cave that Armir had bespelled so she could not leave. The author created this magical, intimate atmosphere there that drew me in. I was supremely curious about what had happened to Malene and will she ever remember again? Armir’s loyalty and devotion to her were admirable and made me like him even more. I also liked that Armir and Malene had actively worked together before to make some very necessary changes to the way the Varroki do things.

What bothered me somewhat: A big deal was made of Malene’s intentions (as Dagny) after her memory loss and she had crafted a new identity for herself, and how it was Armir’s intention to stop her. But somewhere along the way that just kind of fell away. I felt like it was only there to rationalize Armir keeping her captive, but not necessary at all to the rest of the story.

This series is related to the Kindred series, of which I had only read the very last book. Reign can be read as a stand-alone, but I do feel like I missed out on some crucial information that might’ve helped me to understand Armir and Malene better.

Thank you to Netgalley and the author for providing me with a copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

No matter if it’s in this life or the next it is all worth it for Amir and Malene! A book about undying love that transcends the boundaries of time and space!
