This was a fun read!! It's like a combination of dexter meets bridget jones diary. Overall very enjoyable read.

This book follows Gwen who recently broke up with her longtime boyfriend and started using a dating app. She is thrown into a murder investigation when some of the men she went on dates with end up dead.
I had such a fun time reading this book. I loved how funny Gwen was and also very much enjoyed the murder mystery. The author did a great job at making us think the suspect was so many of the different characters. I was able to guess who the killer was but only near the end. Lots of good twists and turns. I would highly recommend reading this book if you like fast paced and twisty mysteries.

This is quite the fun murder mystery! If you’re a suspense/thriller lover like me you know that sometimes you need a breather from all the heavy books you read but don’t want to read a rom-com…and this book is that breather! I will say our narrator is quite annoying at times but it is worth holding out for her redemption arc!

A pink and fluffy serial killer novel!
I know…serial killer books shouldn’t be fluffy. They should be dark and depraved and intense. Or…should they?
Because this is frothy and fluffy and is full of ice cream vans and hen parties and, yes, a little killing. (Or a bit more than a little.)
Gwen is a fun character. Her life is messy. Her love life is messier. And the whole thing where her dates are ending up dead? Messiest of all!
The book is lighthearted and charming and it’s so much fun figuring out who our killer is!
I absolutely adored this in a Lisa Frank Sparkly Unicorn way and I make no apology!

Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC of Swiped.
I had to request Swiped the second I read the premise.
Gwen Turner's life isn't going well, and she's been drowning her sorrows in booze and a lot of bad dates from a dating app.
Then, her dates are suddenly being picked off one by one, and Gwen is forced to face the poor decisions she's made in her life may have led right to this moment.
It's hard to like Gwen; she's immature, even though she's nearly 30, a borderline alcoholic, with no confidence and self esteem.
I'm not sure why she makes the poor decisions she does; because she still misses her dad and she's got unresolved Daddy issues?
She's a lousy friend to her BFF, checking her dating apps at her BFF's bachelorette party, looking to fill the void in her soul after she broke up with her boyfriend.
I was hoping for a dark narrative but the tone is romance-y, almost YA-ish like.
This means Gwen takes it upon herself to solve the crimes, playing Nancy Drew, stumbling into numerous dead bodies just as the police arrive so the authorities are convinced she did it.
Of course, there's a love interest in the cop character, and there's no real police work going on since he shares info with her, spends a lot of time with her, knows her through a mutual friend from high school.
I did sympathize with Gwen's disastrous dates via the app, and it was interesting to learn about how algorithms work, but Gwen was just so annoying.
I guessed the identity of the killer correctly and I did like how the author reminds us that friends come before men, but the narrative, the characters, and the story was just average for me.
The writing was good, the tone peppy and humorous, which wasn't what I expected.
I think readers who prefer murder mysteries with more romance and a sunnier vibe would really enjoy this.

This was such a fun, light-hearted read. (Well, as lighthearted as murder can be). Stories like these make me thankful I was never on dating apps 😂
I suspected nearly everyone throughout this book. That always makes for a fun ride.

Original, engaging, and utterly delightful. A recommended purchase for collections where crime and thrillers are popular.

"Swiped" is a truly modern murder-mystery: set in the UK, it follows Gwen whose past Tinder dates start showing up dead around town. She buddies up with Detective Lyons to crack the case before any more men die. The cast of characters (and therefore the list of suspects) is pretty small: Gwen, her ex Noah, her best friend Sarah and her fiance Richard, Detective Lyons, and Gwen's employee Charlie. Do not expect any kind of in-depth or believable police procedural work here: Gwen goes galavanting around town, breaking into places, interrogating suspects, even hacking email. She's not the sharpest tool in the shed by any means, but her audacity makes her entertaining. Her experiences with online dating will ring true for many, and brought a lot of humor to the book.
I would classify this book as a cozy mystery: it has a fairly straightward plot and overall carefree tone. It moves very quickly, and is hardly plausible. A good palate cleanser and original take on the genre, but not particularly memorable.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC!

Fiction books that rely heavily on old relationship tropes—especially those particular tropes that haven’t aged super well—already make for a tough read. And in certain, unfortunate cases, when those same titles are written in the POV of women characters, but authored by men, they can veer into this perplexing space where misogynistic ideas emerge in the form of character traits and plot devices. It’s a lamentable trend that really has no business existing in the year 2023, and is exactly the biggest problem with L.M. Chilton’s ”Swiped.”
“Swiped” follows a string of extreme misadventures experienced by Gwen, a somewhat unreliable narrator who finds herself at the forefront of a homicide investigation when all of the guys she’s just connected with on a dating app turn up inexplicably dead.
To begin, the mystery has promise, but quickly devolves into a relatively simple “whodonuit.” (I don’t really consider myself a mystery connoisseur and I had it all figured out within the first few chapters.) Still, the biggest detriment to this story is the overtly stereotypical depiction of gender identity that is at the heart of this—and it’s impossible to ignore. The protagonist and other key women characters are consistently portrayed as flighty, volatile and untrustworthy, while the men are pictured as mostly cheating creeps, with the exception of the handful of “good” guys that help redeem the many sins of their peers. It’s also worth noting that a good portion of the dialogue the protagonist engages in comes off as awkward and stilted. (It honestly almost feels as if the author has no idea how women actually talk.)
All in all, I couldn’t get past the problematic messaging of “Swiped”, which consistently made me uncomfortable as a woman reader. That said, perhaps this type of content will appeal to others. It just really wasn’t for me.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early copy.

Absolutely loved this thriller! Loved that it kept me on my toes and I guessed a new killer every other chapter! Also highlighted the woes and the biases of dating apps.

Our heroine Gwen is a Brit, only half living in her coastal town. Recovering from a terrible breakup, Gwen quit her job and is running a coffee truck for work. Additionally, she is looking for a new roommate as her best friend prepares to get married to someone she hates. One way she deals with the pain is her dating app addiction. She loves to swipe through and meet eligible men no matter how disastrous the date. However, when the men begin dying, she is sure that there is a connection...but what could it be?
Join Gwen as she tries to avoid the police, a killer and one more disastrous date! Fun novel, very charming (although murderous).#gallery #Swiped #lmchilton

I finished this in one day and was shocked by the ending! Truly a who done it story with a current story line of online dating. Good twists and a unique story.

🌟🌟🌟🌟
A fun murder mystery set in the world of online dating! For those of us who have any experience with the Tinder/Bumble/Hinge ecosystems…this will hit a little close to home (in the most enjoyable way possible).
Gwen Turner is trying her best to live, laugh, love in a city with very limited dating options. She has an ever-growing list of bad first dates in addition to her ex-boyfriend who, in no uncertain terms, was probably “the one.” Imagine her surprise when those recent bad dates end up being very publicly murdered one at a time!
I was pleasantly surprised by the reveal of the book’s killer, who appears throughout the book under the guise of a mysterious dating profile that sends Gwen ominous messages. While it wasn’t a book that will stick with me for the rest of my life, it was a very strong 4 star read.
Thanks to Gallery Books for providing me with an ARC in exchange for this review! “Swiped” will be out next year on May 21, 2024 👏🏻

"Swiped" by L.M. Chilton offers a thrilling and darkly hilarious twist on the world of online dating, blending suspense, humor, and romance into an unputdownable narrative.
The story follows Gwen Turner, who is navigating a chaotic period in her life. She's recently broken up with the best man she's ever known, quit her lucrative job to open a coffee shop, and feels left behind as her best friend gets married. To fill the void and perhaps find new love, Gwen turns to a dating app. However, her foray into the world of online dating leads her on a series of disastrous dates. The situation takes a terrifying turn when a string of murders occurs in her small coastal English city, and each victim has a connection to Gwen—they've all been on dates with her.
Suddenly, Gwen becomes the prime suspect in a serial killer's spree, and she must unravel the mystery before it's too late. Her only chance of clearing her name is to track down her former dates, even those who've ghosted her, and uncover the truth about the killer.
"Swiped" presents an intriguing blend of suspense, romance, and humor. It's a story that keeps readers on the edge of their seats while delivering clever and darkly comedic moments. This thrilling narrative takes the already mystifying world of online dating and adds a layer of suspense and intrigue that will captivate readers from start to finish.
With a compelling and unique premise, "Swiped" is an engaging and unmissable thriller that explores the dark side of the digital age while offering a good dose of humor and romance.

A mash-up of Bridget Jones's Diary and Scream. I found this to be pretty fun. The writing was really witty and I enjoyed the characters and plot twists.

Swiped was an interest mix of current dating and murder mystery. I thought the author kept suspense through out the story while also alluding to the true identity of the murderer. Crimes committed because of dating apps is very real, but written in this way made it more enjoyable than I imagined.
I didn’t feel like this story glamorized murder, but instead focused more on the main character, Gwen, and the relationships she had AND her actions along the way.
Is the killer who you’d expect? No. After finishing the book could you see them committing these acts now knowing what you know? Absolutely.

From the first page until the last I was totally surprised, shocked and at the edge of my seat! this thriller was a whirlwind it was a page turner and id def recommend it to others . this book almost let you think you knew what was going on but then dis a drastic 180! I loved it. this was a quick fast easy read! I loved the modern and up to date twists and turns especially surrounding online dating ! such and eye opener 4/5 stars!

This book feels like a 3.5 stars-ish(?) kind of read, but I’ll bump it to 4 just because it was a good time. The MC, Gwen, is completely ridiculous- so many times, she had me clutching my hair, screaming, “WTF would you even attempt that?!” Have mercy, this girl gave me some more gray hairs. Meanwhile, she’s trying SO HARD to solve this mystery, and every time she thinks she’s got it figured out, BOOM. No, she doesn’t. Sweetheart, let’s leave finding the serial killer to the pros, ‘cause you’re not it! Still, I had a blast reading this one- it was a lighthearted thriller that you couldn’t take too seriously. There were some funny moments, and a little taste of romance (just a smidgen). There were enough plot cards kept up the sleeve for later in the game to keep things interesting, and I didn’t expect the final twist. It’s not a masterpiece, but it was breezy enough to get me through the reading slump I’ve been in lately. Thanks to NetGalley and Simon & Schuster for the ARC copy of this novel (apparently a re-release with a new title? Was previously released under a different name by an indie publisher)! I enjoyed it.

Swiped is such a fun — and highly relatable — premise. It's the kind of book I should love, but I just couldn't stay with it. I picked it up and put it down so many times, which makes me sad because there are so many great things about it. The chemistry between the characters, the dialogue and the dates are all really well=written. While this wasn't a fit for me, I bet a lot of other thriller fans will love it.

Thank you NetGalley and Simon and Schuster for the ARC of Swiped, by L.M.Chilton. Gwen is just trying to find that perfect guy. She thought she had found him in her ex, Noah but that didn’t work out. So Gwen joins a dating site. After several dates she finds out that all the men she has seen were murdered. Gwen is a fun, easy going character and loves true crime podcasts and when these murders happen, she will stop at nothing to find out who the killer is. The author did a great job at adding humor in to this thriller and making it very enjoyable to read. Keep an eye out out for this release in May 2024.
