A cute christmas read. An epilogue would have been good. . . . . .
This was 50% cute, 50% infuriating. Every man was rude and annoying. Seth did learn and develop and will congratulate him for his growth, but initially he was Not Great™️. The ending was just very convenient? I was hoping it would be more Christmassy too. The timeline felt off - like she'd been there days when it felt like weeks so I assumed Christmas had been and gone but then there was a work Christmas party and the rest of Christmas stuff still to go. It was alright. Thank you to netgalley for the arc.
This was a pretty good read.
I struggled both to get into the writing and characters and to stay interested in the story at times so it took awhile for me to finish. Overall, however, the book was a fun holiday read.
Laughter, cosiness and Christmas feels all in one package!
Barney was adorable, Seth improved as the story went on an Libby's taking it all in her stride.
Enjoyable, sweet Christmas romance in a semi-work environment.
Libby starts working for Seth as a live in personal assistant after she catches her boyfriend in bed with another woman. The job isn't a typical 9 to 5 job especially after a golden retriever puppy becomes part of her duties. It's a cute Christmas story and a quick read.
A fun and cute holiday read. It was predictable and didn't always seem to flow, but it was still enjoyable with endearing characters.
2.5 ⭐️ . This was a short, very PG-rated little Christmas romance. The story was cute, but the writing was so underdeveloped, almost like a teenager wrote it. It was very basic. The romance kind of sprang out of nowhere too. It works for a quick Christmas read though if that’s what you are looking for. Thank you NetGalley and Joffe for an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
If you need a Hallmark Christmas style book to get you in the mood for the holidays, this could be the one. One ditsy woman with no sustainable source of income and no career drive, one clueless man without any social skills, and a cute puppy. Somehow, they end up loving each other at the holidays.
Absolutely delightful Christmas romance! Pretty predictable story line, which I appreciate sometimes. Barney the dog is the perfect catalyst for love!
A great Christmas romance, with a loveable cast of main and side characters - plus a dog so what more do you need.
Read this in one sitting, it was a great easy and enjoyable read and got me in the Christmas mood.

All in all, I liked this book. For me it's something like an apple bubble gum - it's fun, a bit sweet, nothing to complex, and lasts for a short time. It's a nice read to relax. Cinderella-style romance with a woman left with nothing and a rich guy, who fall in love with each other. Cheesy as it comes, simple but exactly what you would expect.
The only concern for me, the author would substitute Christmas for anything else or would take it out and put in some other situation for the main characters to have a truce - there would be no difference at all. And there is not much to the truce itself in the book, it was the same taste as "To be or not to be" in Hamlet - you will easily miss it when reading. Not the best name for the book, "Puppy Connection" would be even more suitable. But you most probably would pick it up around Christmas to relax and enjoy some love story, so it will serve its main purpose.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
The description made A Christmas Truce sound like the kind of holiday reads I usually enjoy, but unfortunately the execution left a bit to be desired.
A cute story, but a bit disjointed and I would have enjoyed a bit more character development for Libby and Seth.
Libby walks in on her boyfriend cheating on her and she’s the type that doesn’t stay at one job for a long period of time. Her friend helps her land this job as an assistant to a billionaire. Seth is the distant, demanding type and Libby breaks his shell. I loved the character development for both Seth and Libby in this book and i loved Barney the dog so much!
Recommend if you enjoy:
Grumpy x sunshine
Close proximity
Billionaire romance
The characters were all likeable in this story, but Barney was by far the favorite.
I enjoyed the character development and that the author didn't just leave the relationship between Libby and her boyfriend without a clear ending.
This was a typical holiday read without spicy details - this could easily be made into a Hallmark movie!
Let me start off by saying this book reads like a Wattpad, Hallmark movie, and soap opera all in one. I think this is normally a complete and utter distaste of mine, but the book was centered around Christmas, so I let it slide.
Is it good? Sure, I would say so. Is it groundbreaking? No.
The back story to both of the characters would have made this book 10x better and create more depth for the characters. Both Seth and Libby are very flat and one-sided without that level of detail. Their conversations are also very dry and seemed very childlike (if that makes sense).
I also feel like the reader is rushed into the situation. Like I know that you want to grab the reader’s attention (trust me I’m all about that), but again, some sort of detail into the chapter’s lives besides Libby’s tendency to not hold a job would have been nice. Additionally, the last 30% was so incredibly fast I felt like I had whiplash. One moment she’s two weeks away from Christmas and the next page it’s Christmas.
Also, the book is called the Christmas Truce and it was 80% of the way through before the truce even happened???
Ps. An English Springer Spaniel was mentioned so automatic star added.

A Christmas Truce is a great story about a woman who lands a job as an assistant to a grumpy millionaire. After Libby walks in on her boyfriend cheating a friend gets her a job working for Seth. She really lands in the perfect position, working and living with this guy. What a setup. At first, it starts out tense but eventually, they do become friends. I thought the characters were great and really warmed up to Seth as the book went on. He turns out to be a dog person so he was leagues ahead of her last boyfriend. The Christmas vibe in the book is perfect. What a fantastic day they had. My only quirk and it is a minor one, is that Libby snakes out on Seth for the dumbest things like helping her. Seriously, he tries to help her get a photography gig and she reels around in anger and threatens to quit. Really dumb. But I can overlook her nonsense because the story was fun and uplifting. This is a definite addition to the holiday TBR pile.
Fantastic Tom com at its best.
Libby is always floating from one job to another as a temp bur when she blows up the electric in the office she heads home to listen to the inevitable from her boyfriend. What she didn’t expect is for their to be company.
She decides her next job will be a live in. Enter Seth and his advertisement for a live in girl Friday,
Hilarious escapades with a dog and slowly Libby is enjoying life again what can go wrong?
Well written and a good curl up and lose yourself book.
Highly recommended
This book was such a delight! I was laughing hard and it was only the first chapter.
Libby was an interesting character. She’s a bit of a klutz and has a habit of getting fired from jobs. She is however very good at this job, working as a PA for Seth.
Seth was quite the mystery for a while. Almost like a phantom showing up randomly and then disappearing for days.
My favorite character was Barney the dog. He was cute and stole the show.
I will say the first few chapters were a bit boring as Libby outlined several days of work and eating. It got a bit repetitive after a while.
Another main downside was I didn’t feel the chemistry between Seth and Libby. It truly was like a boss-employee relationship in my head. I just can’t see them being together (especially with Seth’s sporadic busts of anger).
It was also a bit strange that the book is called A Christmas Truce, but the truce doesn’t happen until chapter 16 (and there are only 19 chapters)…

This was such a short book that I finished it so quick I didn’t have much time to collate many thoughts about it but it was definitely a cute, short, Christmasy read.
It could have done with a bit more romance, because throughout the book you know they like each other secretly but then at the very end they sleep together (no smut) and then just confess to each other but the romance part wasn’t very drawn out at all.
Barney (the puppy) carried the book tbh.
Libby, who works temp jobs so that she can travel whenever her heart desires, gets fired from a job and then comes home to find her boyfriend with another woman. She moves out and gets a new job as a live-in personal assistant to demanding businessman Seth Coleman, and one of her tasks is to care for and train his new Golden Retriever puppy. The two become close and Libby begins to develop feelings for Seth until he makes a business decision that makes her consider quitting. Libby finds herself with nowhere to go for Christmas, so the two agree to a truce until after the holidays.
I enjoyed the storyline of this book, and could even see it being turned into a Hallmark movie. This novel is plot-driven, but I felt that there needed to be more character development for the reader to be invested. I also felt that the dialogue was a bit stilted at times. Overall, this was a short and easy read, which is great for the holidays.
I rated this book a 2 out of 5. Thank you to Joffe Books and NetGalley for allowing me to read and review this ARC.
