Thank you to Netgalley and Macmillan Audio for an advance copy of this audiobook in exchange for my honest review.
The author as the narrator was a good choice for this one, as the excitement shone through!!
I admit that I went into this book thinking it was something it was not. I expected more stories of the experiences people had with their alien encounters and then a deeper dive into what has been discovered as researchers investigate.
By the end of the book, I kind of felt like I didn’t know much more than I did at the start. That there honestly wasn’t a lot of talk about actual encounters and the discussions didn’t delve as deep as I expected.
Overall, a decent read, but far from what I hoped.
#Encounters ….Alien but also… angels/demons/dreams/visions/other dimensions… I was a little thrown by this book as I was hoping that it was more about actual alien stories but this went a little all over the place. I’m addition, the author is stated as the person who also narrated the audiobook @macmillan.audio and all I can say is reeeeallly, are you sure about that? She sounds like a gen Z personage. Lol I thought she is an older female professor. I could’ve sworn she spoke of people from prior generations as if she knew them… ? This was one of my lesser favs of audiobooks for the simple reason that I wanted to hear this told from various narrators bc sometimes I couldn’t tell if she (the author) was speaking or if it was still the person X telling their story. It was not my least favorite book by far as the content was interesting. For example I didn’t realize that there were ppl who consider aliens are devils or gods, or that some ppl involved with our beginning space programs with associated friends of #aliestercrowley - doing magic whilst also doing science. How strange! Some of this was a bit out there, and if it were me, I would’ve wanted this audio done with different voices, not with this - no lie - childlike voice - telling me about everything - it rang hollow to me and monotonous. Not what I expect from audiobooks usually especially by Macmillan. But if you enjoy reading of aliens with angels, and like a bit of conspiracy and fantasy thrown around you may like this book, but if you are looking for facts grounded in science or proof of aliens or angels, skip it…. Apologies but thank you to @netgalley and @macmillan.audio for this audio for review. It might be for you, it just wasn’t what I guess I was looking for. #scifi #aliens #otherworldlybeings
In the book Encounters by D W Pasulka more than just random alien encounters we get to hear about the leaders and secret and not so secret advocate for alien contact and with the exception of the chapters about Gray The book is mainly a discussion about where we are when it comes to believing in aliens are minimal contact with them an exception as a whole. I couldn’t wait to read this book because I love random alien encounters and siding but I am definitely not disappointed this was a very interesting book from The different conferences she’s going to the popular zeitgeist in the conversation she’s had with those knowledgeable on the subject. Not to mention her own comments and experiences. I will not say I enjoyed this more than I would have enjoyed a book about random alien contact but I would be lying if I said this wasn’t a very entertaining and interesting read. If you have interest in aliens and aliens contacting you probably would enjoy this book as much as I did it is a definite four star listen in one I definitely recommend. I listen to the audiobook and thought the narrator hit a more pleasant voice for children’s book or self-help not to say it wasn’t a pleasure to listen to her narrate I would’ve just expected a more academic tone to the narrators voice but maybe that is just my own personal preference. I received this book from NetGalley and the publisher but I am leaving this review voluntarily please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.
“Encounters: Experiences with Nonhuman Intelligences” is a book that will appeal to anyone who is interested in the paranormal, the supernatural, and the extraterrestrial, as well as anyone who is curious about the unknown and the unexplained. It is a book that will stimulate your mind and stir your soul, and that will make you rethink your place and your role in the grand scheme of things. It is a book that will change the way you see the world, and the way you see yourself. Thanks to NetGalley for an advance copy of the audiobook.
I thought I was going to read a book about UFOs and aliens, but instead, it was a book on philosophy and mind-expansion. It reads like a self-help book. Not my cup of tea. The only "new" ideas presented were pretty far-fetched and in the sci-fi realm.
I am all about new alien information right now. Everything here was presented in an interesting and easy to understand way. There is a lot to digest and dig into and Pasulka seems to have a pretty level headed outlook on her information. She was such a great narrator that I didn't think she was also the author. Fantastic job!
