I sometimes wonder if the generation gap has ever been wider than it actually is today, between parents who grew up in a pre-internet age and children who have grown up with computers more or less from birth.
Given the widespread changes that technology has wrought on society, it is nigh-impossible for parents to understand the contemporary world that children live in, the cultural mores and pressures that they are subjected to.
In this book, Lily Jo provides an immensely useful guide for parents seeking to communicate better with their children. She shows how important it is to frame a question properly so as to receive the desired answer from a child - particularly when it comes to sensitive issues like mental health. This will be a useful resource for adults with children in their lives, in whatever capacity.6
Meticulously researched, well written and engaging. I enjoyed this book and have taken a lot from it to juggle my own teens. Lily-Jo draws on personal experience with some lovely anecdotes and stories. Lily-Jo takes the questions from parents that become part of our normal arsenal and changes them up to allow engagement. Such a helpful read.
