The novel “Game” is a suspense/thriller that follows a man who finds a cell phone on a train and gets pulled into a game that tests how far he’ll go for fame and wealth. At first, he’s asked to do smaller, harmless pranks, but as they escalate, it becomes clear that his moral compass will be put to the test as he figures out whether the game and its real harm is worth it to himself and others.
This is an interesting book, and will definitely meet your fix for suspense and action. The central question explores how far people can be pushed in the name of being known in a world increasingly obsessed with social media, acceptance, and visibility. I think this is something that we’ll continue to see explored, especially with how technology continues to advance and take on a mind of its own. I liked that this book is fairly fast-paced, which kept me interested. Additionally, there’s a moral in the story that makes it feel less sensational. The characters felt well-developed and both realistic and relatable. And ultimately, the plot twist was well worth it.
I’m excited that this is part of a series, and I can’t wait to read what’s next.
I'm not really sure how I feel about this book. Part of me hated it, mainly because of the main character. I wanted to punch him a few times, but another part of me enjoyed it simply because it was rather interesting. Lol, this book made me have some moral ambiguity in terms of the mc. So again, I'm not sure how I feel about this. XD
This was an interesting plot and reminds me of the challenges on Tik Tok today. Rebecca and HP were solid characters. It was a great read.
Many thanks to Atria Books and to NefGalley for sharing a galley with me in exchange for my honest opinion.

Henrik Petterson, HP to his friends, finds a shiny silver phone on a train. He picks it up and sees a message, “Do you want to play a game?” At first, he ignores it, but after the message is displayed a few more times, he figures he doesn’t have anything to lose. The first task is to steal an umbrella from a specific man that gets on the train. HP hesitates until he sees the man with the umbrella get on the train. In a flash, he makes up his mind, steals the umbrella and the challenge is completed. Unfortunately for HP, the game is only beginning.
The story is fast paced, the characters are developed, and it is written in the third person point of view. HP at times is immature but that is him. He is written realistically to be that way. I enjoyed the book and look forward to the next one in the series, Buzz. If you like action and adventure books with a twist of mystery, you may enjoy this book.
Because I was unable to download this title, I cannot leave a review at this time. I apologize for any inconvenience.
This was an interesting book with an innovative plot line. I enjoyed the chase of the game and the suspense of what would happen next. It is always fun when authors from other countries get their books translated into English. It opens a whole new world of stories up to the avid reader, which I appreciate.
This was a very exciting book and one I know our teens love. I am sorry this is long in coming but I didn't know much about the reviewing part of netgalley for a while, but rest assured the book was recommended to our teen librarian for purchase as it was so exciting and action packed and I think it is something our teens would love and I believe they have. I only wish I have know this earlier so I possibly could have been able to review the other books.
