This was inspirational to an extent. Michael Youssef describes the beauty and wonder of heaven in a detailed way that certainly makes you want to go there! However, it is written from a born-again perspective and fairly dogmatic at times. I disagreed with parts of the book, for example, he writes that people who have lost their spouses only have memories if their partners were not believers. I may just read Christian books written from Anglican or Catholic perspectives in fiture.
I received this free ebook from NetGalley in return for an honest review.
Heaven Awaits offers a biblical view of what we can expect as Christians in the afterlife. Dr. Youssef not only shares the reality of heaven but also paints a beautiful picture of what awaits that will leave you yearning for more. He describes nine blessings of heaven, its eight facets and ten blessings. I really enjoyed reading this book and highly recommend it to anyone looking to learn more about their heavenly home and all that lies ahead.
Heaven Awaits by Michael Youssef is one of the most important books I've read. It came at exactly the right time and right place in my life. As a born-again Christian I do not have all the answers but I do have the absolute assurance of my real and forever home in Heaven. Youssef explains we should invest far more in Heaven than we do when planning a trip. It needs to be a lifestyle, not an occasional fuzzy feel-good thought. We will need to adopt Heaven's culture and values...why not start now?
Youssef outlines nine blessings, eight beautiful facets and ten benefits of the reality that is Heaven. Even just one is amazing. He describes the present Heaven and the New Heaven. To be in Heaven is to behold Jesus. Just thinking about it leaves me in awe and must affect all aspects and decisions.
Some have the notion that Heaven will be dull...but how can obtaining knowledge, learning from angels and serving Jesus with our whole hearts because we want to be anything less than unspeakable joy? Not only is there no darkness present, there is also the presence of Jesus Himself, no grief, no sorrow, no worry, no hospitals or cemeteries, no temptations, no sin. Importantly, Youssef also describes Hell and eternal separation from God.
Though I've read about Heaven and think about it, my new goal is to live much more mindfully about what is to come and act accordingly. Life on earth is fleeting and slipping away, unlike steadfast eternal Heaven which is more concrete than anything.
If you need inspiration, hope, reassurance or question where you will spend eternity, Heaven Awaits. Say yes!
My sincere thank you to Tyndale House Publishers and NetGalley for providing me with a digital copy of this powerfully iinspiring book.
