This was my first time reading something by this author and it was a fun and enjoyable experience. Chloe is an independent woman living her best life, except she is missing one thing. She can't seem to find a decent man to date. She agrees to go on a blind date when her friend offers to set her up. Her date Jack ends up being very, very late and she just about gives up, but then he does show up and they really hit it off. But then when she tries to contact him again, he ghosts her and she is determined to find out why. When she finally catches up with him again, she realizes he's not at all who she thought he was and she was essentially lied to. Her and Jack and had really clicked when they first met but he's not who he says he was. Is she willing to look past that and see where the relationship goes?
This was an enjoyable read with an interesting plot and some fun moments. The premise of the story was interesting and unique. I did feel the chemistry between the characters a little lacking, but despite that I did enjoy the story and would like to read more of this author's work.
My thanks to NetGalley for providing a complimentary copy. This is my honest and voluntary review.
A cute contemporary romcom by a fav Canadian author. While this one charming, it wasn't super standout for me and I was sad it didn't release simultaneously on audio too. Fun and a quick read but nothing too substantial and not one I would go out of my way to recommend. Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early digital copy in exchange for my honest review!
this was a cute fast read. the couple was interesting. just what I was looking for today. I would definitely recommend this author and read.
This was a dnf for me. Couldn't relate to chloe at all and I couldn't see them together either. Dnf at 42%.
I thought this was very good and I will have to add this to the shop shelves. Thank you for the chance for us to review.
It was a fun read. I thought some elements seemed a bit unrealistic. Overall, it was an interesting concept and something I hadn't read about before.
Thoroughly enjoyed this one. It kept me on my toes and interested throughout. I liked the relationship Chloe engages in
I wanted to love this book so much and the idea did have me hooked! I thought that it was so cute and I did find myself relating to Chloe a lot of the time! It honestly fell short for me.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for granting me free access to the advanced digital copy of this book.
This was a wonderful book and I'll be purchasing it for the library!
You will thank me after you fall in love with Chloe Baker! She's an independent woman living in New York making it on her own with a great job. One problem, she can't seem to find a date. Yes, things could be worse, but boy, she'd love some male compansionship!
So, when her best friend sets her up with Jack, an IT guy and they are supposed to meet at a coffee shop and he's at first late, then very late but finally breezes in with an apology, they proceed to have coffee and talk and decide to see each other again. Well, again happens sooner than later as they bump into each other immediately that day and end up spending it with each other. They soon realize they not only have a great deal in common, but there is something much deeper going on with them.
But sometimes things come to an end sooner rather than later. After this date which ended with a kiss, Jack just ghosts her. So, with the determination of someone who feels they have lost a soulmate, Chloe decides she must search for him and discover the truth.
She finally does find Jack, but he's not really who she thought he was. This relationship or non-relationship brings up memories from her childhood and her parents which she had suppressed for quite a while. Of course, she has had insecurities her whole life but thanks to Jack she never knew why. Confusion sets in. And she realizes she has been lied to.
But can they get past their first date and everything which happened later? Is he real? Or is he just another man who enjoys breaking hearts.
Chloe Baker's Lost Date is a wonderfully funny, uplifting story which will keep you enchanted as they both learn about each other, life and love. Is love at first sight real? Depends on the name...

A storyline with an ex girlfriend who won’t go away will always make me want to DNF, not at any fault of the authors but that is such a trigger for me. This book has that until the very end, so be warned! Written so well, made my skin crawl.
Anyway, this book has your typical hallmark obviousness that we all know and love. To me, that always makes a book a cozy read. For example, quotes like “That doesn’t remind you of your past? :/” And “Forget I said that”. Debbie Ryan quirky, if you will.
The plot is so unique! I loved that it was unlike anything I’ve ever read. I had no idea how the story would end even with 15 pages left! Some of the stuff is a little out there. The phone number thing was WILD to me. I really enjoyed reading this before bed.
I hated and loved Ben every 5 pages. His character is painted as a nice guy who loves his nephew, but then he allows his ex to lurk around? No thanks.
The randomly screaming porn-y titles was so random and immature to me. The immaturity didn’t really go with either of the characters, so that part always felt really forced and awkward to read. Definitely disrupted the flow of the story and I could have done without it. Millennial humor? :,)
The authors writing style is unique too! Took me a minute to figure out who was talking and when, but as soon as I caught on I kinda enjoyed it!
Lots of book-trope talk which was fun! I’ve never watched Bridgerton, but this book had so many references that I think people who watch that would enjoy!
Content warning part 2, Ben’s mom has MS and the effects of the diagnosis are present throughout.

This had a great set up and good banter but I didn't like it that much and honestly coiuldn't get into the main couple to root for them. oh well!
This story follows a young woman who goes on a blind date but after it goes well, the guy disappears and she goes looking for him. This wasn’t a bad read and I enjoyed the concept of the story. The pacing was fast and I really enjoyed the New York City. I do have to say that the storing did kind of get a bit boring towards the middle. I also hated the way the author handled the food situation in this book. As it wasn’t triggering for me, I know it can be for others but I wasn’t enjoying the way it was talked about in the book. This book is told from Chloe’s pov.
Chloe is the FMC of the story and she is a good character. She deals with the struggle of dating but I also think she needs to personally grow before she can date. She had a good development in the story. There are many side characters in this book and I liked Jack’s mysterious storyline for this romance book. The romance is instant love and slow burn .
The ending was good and it was cute for the book. I think I would have enjoyed it more if there weren’t so many food issues and other things that would have brought a better message to the readers. If there was a more meaning behind it, I would have liked it and seen the character grow from it. Overall not a bad read.
*this arc was sent to me by the publisher to give an honest review win return*
This was a fun read and very Gen z, dating today is hard and Wicks puts a twist in what is a rare perfect date. I felt like this could be relatable in the never-ending dating scene. The goal to find that someone that is meant to be with. So, when it happens and then that feeling is taken away, what would you do to get in back because what if you missed the window. That is just what Chloe does, she risks her job maybe even her heart to get that moment back.
Chloe has a new life in New York, a great job but no dating life. So, when she agrees to go on a blind date, she is hopeful for the first time in a long time. His name is Jack, and he is late so thinks he is not even going to show up. But then he comes rushing in the door and end up have this great day together and one amazing kiss. She can't wait to see him again but when she texts him it is not the same guy, she spent the day with. She has to find him because true love is so rare, and she knows he felt it too. She risks everything including her job to find him. But will he be worth it? Is it really love or just illusion she made up in her head.
Thank you to NetGalley and Wattpad Webtoon Book Group for a copy of this book for my honest review.
This book was very promising at first but then after about 30%, I couldn't do it anymore. Chloe was just too much for me, especially with the way she spoke about food. DNF'ed at 32%
DNF
I got about 35% into this one before admitting defeat. Which is incredibly frustrating as 1. I don't enjoy having to DNF a book and 2. Catherine McKenzie (who is Katie Wicks) has long been a favourite author of mine.
The main thing that set me off and convinced me I had to put this book down was the constant reference to food - it led to a really toxic feeling and relationship with eating. I was about 20% in and there were already at least four mentions of Chloe eating "far more" than she "should" and having to work off all the food with a run or not being able to fit into her pants. In 2024. COME ON. That's not OK. It doesn't matter if that's how some women still feel, it's definitely not something we should be putting out into romance books.
There was also this odd feeling I had that romance books were being judged. Chloe worked for a book box (which also really made me roll my eyes...is that the new job for rom com heroines? No more PR or journalism jobs but working in some book related field instead?) and was the romance book selector and it just seemed like she didn't get the genre. I admit there are flaws with what's published and how it's marketed but it all just felt...wrong.
I know not every book can be a winner but having this one be a DNF really bothered me. Onto the next...
At the beginning of this story, I was hooked and genuinely thought that this was going to be a favorite book of the year. But then it took a drastic turn and I could no longer keep interested in this story. There was so much potential in this book but I don't feel like it was done near as well as it could have been done. There were some toxic issues throughout this book that I just couldn't overlook. I also need to do a better job of checking the publisher of books. I've yet to find a Wattpad book that I've enjoyed.
Finished reading - Chloe Baker’s lost date by Kate Wicks.
Chloe is on a first date with Jack who is 30 mins late to their date. She can feel everyone in the restaurant judging her and then suddenly he enters the restaurant and is much better looking than his pic. They talk to each other and spend a whole day together only to get a text from the “real Jack” apologizing that he couldn’t make it for their first date. But now Chloe can’t stop thinking about the “fake Jack” and wants to find him, but doesn’t have his name or number because she thought he was the “real Jack”.
The story started with such a promising plot and had so much potential but halfway into it, it fell flat.
All the characters, I felt lacked, luster.
“Fake Jack” was a big red flag for me as a potential boyfriend.
Chloe and “fake Jack” seemed more like friends than lovers.
I loved the beginning and really wanted to like this but it was a no go for me.

This was a cute rom com novel. Chloe just moved to New York and she's set up on a blind date by her friend. When she gets there, he's late and right when she was gonna leave, he shows up. They end up having a good date and run into each other at the Met on another day and decide to spend the day together. Then He has to leave and disappears. It was a really good read, I really enjoyed it.
I found the plot of this book fun and unique!
Chloe goes to meet blind date, Jack, who seemingly (finally!) Shows up quite late!
They enjoy a fun, easy Faye with obvious chemistry. Adorable together!
She texts Jack for a follow up and finds out she hadn't been with Jack at all but some Stanger. She has no way of knowing who he was or how to find him, but their connection was strong...she wants to see him again.
What follows is a fun trip of her trying to find him in some eccentric ways! And some very twisty storyline involving her, the real Jack and this mystery man!
A fun read that keeps you hooked!
