Age gap romance, family secrets with estranged characters. Danielle Steel never disappoints her reader. Always a quick fast paced read with a little twist or two to bring the story homes. Thank you Netgalley for the chance to read/rate/review.
Danielle Steel you can never go wrong with! I have loved all her books and this one was no different, I love how everyone’s love story is different, and sweet but also how there is always a death that comes with it!
What sets "Upside Down" apart is its exploration of unconventional relationships and the complexities of human emotions. Steel's storytelling prowess shines as she delves into the depths of Remy's journey, weaving together themes of resilience, forgiveness, and the power of love to heal even the deepest wounds. With its compelling characters and heartfelt narrative, "Upside Down" is a captivating and thought-provoking read that challenges readers to reconsider their perceptions of happiness and fulfillment.
Danielle Steel has a flair for writing novels about powerful women and emotional relationships, and she somehow is able to come up with new storylines novel after novel after novel. Though the storylines and plots are familiar, they are also comforting because you know what you are getting as you settle in. I enjoyed the mother daughter relationship in this one and how their bonds changed, grew, and strengthened.
This is a good book. The main character in this book Ardith. Ardith is a mother, widow, and an actress. This story is about her life. It tells about her husband, who was a producer but was having an affair when he died. The story tells about how hard it was to be a mother and having to work. How she found love in her sixty’s to a younger man. How it doesn’t matter how old you are when it is love.
Thank you to NetGalley for this e-copy of Upside Down by Danielle Steel. This is a different type of Steel romance in that it deals with the May-December romance in which an older actress Ardith Law who is 62 falls in love with a struggling actor Josh Gray who is 41.They meet when he is hired as an assistant when her boyfriend goes to location. After tragedy strikes, they find themselves growing closer.Meanwhile, her daughter Morgan, who has never been close to her mother, finds herself falling in love with an older patient , Ben , who is closer to her ,other’s age. When scandal strikes, their love is tested. Can these upside down romances survive? Read the book and find out.
Not one of my favorites but i still plug on since I've been a long time reader! Thank you netgalley and the publisher for the arc in exchange for a review.
This book is a story of loss, forgiveness and destiny. Ardith Law is a Hollywoord icon, but her fame came at the expense of not being the mother her daughter Morgan expected her to be. Now Morgan, successful in her own right is caught up in a romance that can put her relationship on the line due to his blackmail, she decides to turn to her mother for advice.
A story of courageous choices and the dream of healing broken bonds. As always Steele’s writing is elegant and proves that she is a master storyteller.
Many thanks to Random House and to Netgalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.
I would like to thank NetGalley and Random House Ballentine for allowing me to read this book and give my honest opinion. I read this book and enjoyed it immensely. This is the story of Ardith who is a Hollywood star who has a live in love Bill. When Bill goes off to shoot a movie, Ardith hires an assistant Josh. Josh shows up for his interview on a motorcycle and is the complete opposite of Ardith in every way. A tragedy (spoiler!) brings them closer together. This wasn't one of my favorites but I am glad I ready it!
I recommend Danielle Steel's new book Upside Down. Wonderful story for everyone to enjoy. I received an ARC of this book courtesy of NetGalley and the publisher. All opinions expressed in this review are my own and given freely. Happy reading!
I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
With a successful acting career, people think they know who Ardith Law is by making assumptions about her but they only know what she allows them to see. Hurt by her unfaithful husband, she keeps people at a distance including her daughter even years later after her husband's death. Ardith's current relationship is less about romance and more about being there for each other through thick and thin. A budding actor, Josh enters Ardith's life as a temporary assistant and giving all the wrong first impressions. Slowly they start to trust each other and become more in sync than they intend to be as they question what is this exactly?
Meanwhile in New York, Ardith's daughter, Morgan is a successful plastic surgeon putting her career first and not wanting to get any close personal ties with people. It's how she was brought up and what she is used to. However soon she is swept up in romance with the last person she thought she could see herself with and moves cautiously not wanting to get hurt or give into all of her feelings.
Danielle Steel does a great job on two different storylines which are still intertwined with the difficult mother daughter relationship dynamic. This book was an easy read and kept me entertained wanting to finish it to find out how it ends. I highly recommend this book.
Thank you to NetGalley and Random House Publishing for the ARC. Also thank you to the author, Danielle Steel for the amazing writing and great read! Looking forward to reading some more of your ARC's!
Danielle Steel is one of my auto read authors and this book is another good example why. Deep diving into mother daughter relationships and how they can change over the years as women grow. Always with a touch of romance and a happy ever after (mostly). You usually know what you are getting with Danielle Steel but the comfort of her stories is one of the things that keep us coming back every time!
I liked Steel's more complex plots and character developments in previous novels. This one - an older-younger/younger-older romance pairing - felt a bit predictable.
It's easy reading. Something to pick up for the commute or beach, when your brain needs entertainment and a diversion.
She's done better but it was still fun.
This is such an incredible story, start to finish. I loved every page of it, becoming invested in every relationship it dealt with. The mother/daughter relationship is at the center, with mega movie star mother who had neglected her daughter throughout her childhood for the sake of career, and the now grownup, successful surgeon, daughter that still harbors resentment. Each of those characters embarks on their own age gap romance discovering much about themselves, and bridging the gap between the strained mother and daughter.
This was such a charming and heartfelt book! I absolutely love Danielle Steel and this book was wonderful as usual! An unconventional love story and heartwarming characters made this a new favorite of mine!
Round up to 3.5 stars
I didn’t have to cook Thanksgiving dinner this year, so I had a chance to sit and read Danielle Steel’s new book the day before the holiday. As with most of her other books, there is plenty of glamour between the setting and the characters.
Ardith Law is a legendary Hollywood actress. Her adult daughter, Morgan, holds on to anger and resentment towards her because her mother wasn’t around much when she was growing up. The two women lead separate lives on opposite coasts, have obligatory phone calls, and the visits are far and few between.
Ardith has a personal assistant who is handsome and younger than she, who also steps in and assists her through a personal tragedy. Morgan meets “the perfect guy”; however, he brings some unsavory baggage with him to the relationship. Through these challenges, both women better understand the other, and their relationship slowly heals.
While it was a fast read, a lot was packed into the story.
Ardith is a Hollywood icon with a grown daughter who is a plastic surgeon and a career of her own. They are not close since Ardith’s was killed in a helicopter crash with his mistress. What a shock that was to Ardith ,Morgan’s mother. Ardith friended an older actor gentleman Bill West. Ardith wasn’t in love with Bill but was comfortable with each other. Ardith needs an assistant and thy send over Josh a dashing young man to help Ardith who is leans on and kindles a friendship with. Morgan is not happy with when comes for Bill’s funeral after he passes away unexpectedly. A unforgettable story of mother and daughter and how they find their way back with tragedy and love.
A strained mother and daughter relationship, new relationships, and drama. Ardith is an award winning actress who stayed busy making movies her whole adult life. Morgan is her daughter who felt left out of her glamorous mother’s life and a bit neglected. New relationships and a criminal act brings some sort of understanding between the two women. Classic Danielle Steel all the way. I haven’t read a book of hers that didn’t keep me intrigued and entertained. Another amazing story.

What a fabulous story!!! I ADORE Danielle Steel and am a huge fan of ALL of her books!
Beyond the "perfect" loves stories that always seem to have the craziest most convoluted path, my favorite part of this story was Morgan's transformation. Sometimes you DO have to let of anger it will literally eat you alive. I still feel that Morgan's beloved, Ben, is unworthy and smarmy - no spoilers, but he's still a douche. Thank you to Netgalley for this gift!! All opinions are totally my own
