Ardith Law is an older A list star (think Meryl Streep). Her daughter is a plastic surgeon, resentful that her mom never made time for her while she was growing up. They both end up dating men about the same age. Typical easy DS read.

Call me a romantic and also emotional but I loved this book it was everything I needed and more. Plus I read it when it was raining and I was in a cozy blanket. The mother daughter dynamic and then adding love and heartbreak into it it just all felt so good and it brought every emotion you could think of.

Danielle Steel brings us the story of taking chances. We meet actress Ardith Law who has a strained relationship with her daughter, a successful plastic surgeon, especially after her father dies and work keeps her away. When tragedy strikes, Ardith and Morgan must figure out if they should take the chances that are presented to them, or walk away because of how the world may view them. Because of life's curve balls, will it bring mother and daughter closer together, or will it just keep them farther apart? Can they accept and let go of the past enough to be able to forge a new future where there is no more regret?

Danielle Steel brings us a story of family, love, and what people will do when the unexpected happens to them. Because you never know what will happen, will this mother and daughter who have been estranged for years and are polite to each other be able to set it aside and become a family once again, or have they left it alone for too long? You wanted to know what Ardith and Morgan do when life gets in the way and you see what is really important in your life. You want to see if they can repair their relationship and not act as if they are acquaintances. This keeps you turning the page until you get to the end and want to see what else they are doing in their lives.

I have reviewed and received an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I would like to thank NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine, Delacorte Press for this privilege.

I have read Danielle Steel for many years. This was the first novel where I couldn't predict what was going to happen. It was refreshing to me that she incorporated more real life problems. Great character development. I laughed, I cried and I bit a few fingernails. Well done! Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for this ARC copy.

Thanks to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for an ARC of this book. I've been a Danielle Steel fan for many years so getting an early look at one of her books is a real treat for me.

I read this book in one sitting (except for quick trips to take the dog out). It was an easy, quick read which I really enjoyed. As usual with books from Danielle Steel, there is a strong female lead. I appreciated how current topics of MeToo and ageism were incorporated in the story. I did find the plot to be a bit slow-moving, but overall the story wasn't as predictable as some other Steel novels.

This is a quintessential Danielle Steel book. A light fluffy read with beautiful characters and locations.
I thought the plot would be a bit more engaging, but all in all it was a quick escapist read.

Ardith Law is a glamorous and still radiant actress at age 62. She is a highly successful, Oscar winning actress and it has caused a strained relationship with her daughter, Morgan. Ardith became a single mother when Morgan was seven after her husband died in a helicopter crash. She had a close, twelve year relationship with Bill West, a fellow actor. His sudden passing leaves Ardith alone again. Soon, Ardith is swept off her feet by a much younger actor, Josh Gray. This is a story of second chances, bold choices and reconciliation. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC of this book. I really enjoyed it.

It has been quite some time since I have read a book by Danielle Steel but this did not disappoint. I love her character building and the way she can tell a story. This book was very heartwarming and lets you know it's never too late to find love, no matter your age. thank you Netgalley for the ARC. Absolutely loved this book and will be picking up a physical copy on publishing day.

I enjoyed the read. There was a reasonable progression for both of the main characters. I would have liked to have seen more interaction between mother & daughter. The ending for one of the characaters was somewhat predictable. I was disappointed and unsatisfied with the lack of closure for the other. Regardless, I would recommend this book.

Yes! “Upside Down” is the perfect title!
Yes! The story is predictable – there is sadness, romance, drama and I am sure I am not giving anything away but it is a HEA story!

I have been a Danielle Steel fan for many years. I did drifted away from her Romance/Chick-Lit stories and moved to psychological thrillers. However, this is #48 for me ~ so yes; there is a loyalty magnet that has a hold on me as I still have soft spot for Ms. Steel’s novels.
We Danielle Steel fan are a unique group and I am proud to be a member!

This is a quick comfort read if you need a bit of an escape. Ardith is a famous actress, partnered with an actor named Bill. When Bill is away filming his next project, an assistant was provided for Ardith and she was shocked to see a young "biker dude" pull up on day one. However, Josh becomes an integral part of her life as Ardith deals with tragedy and her struggling relationship with her daughter Morgan.

Sometimes we are too quick to judge a person by their age or appearance. Soulmates are where you find them and life can sometime be surprising. A great read!

I enjoy the calm charm of Steel’s novels. This one doesn’t disappoint. It’s the story of a mother and daughter whose lives turn upside down with new relationships and most importantly a reset of their own relationship.

Mom is an older Hollywood star whose long term companion passes away unexpectedly, leaving her alone with an alienated daughter and a young assistant who is an aspiring actor. The daughter is a successful and dedicated plastic surgeon. Her life shifts when an older, highly respected journalist comes into her life.

The romances are enjoyable to watch, even as they are predictable. There is a “MeToo” twist in the story.

I enjoyed this lovely novel. Steel really embraces the modern sensibilities of relationships where age often defies conventional norms.

Thank you Netgalley for this opportunity to read and review this novel.

A Hollywood legend's world comes crashing down when something tragic happens. This book was a quick read and I even laughed out loud several times which I do not remember doing in past Danielle Steel books. I loved all the characters and the storyline was good. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this early release in exchange for my honest review.

Kind of a slow paced book, not as exciting as I would have expected. Family drama in Hollywood isn’t really my cup of tea though.

Upside Down is typical of Danielle Steel novels, but at the same time, it deals with contemporary issues, such as ageism, the "me too movement", mother-daughter conflict, and fear of aging. As is typical of Steel, this is a novel about love and romance and different depictions of love, as well as the tough choices that women face when falling in love. So many women are forced to choose between a demanding career or motherhood, and with Upside Down, Steel also has something to say about that dilemma and the possible pitfalls that can haunt working women. .

Steel creates characters both typical and new, as noted above. Steel's women are talented and gorgeous, while the men are equally handsome and adoring, which is no doubt why so many readers love Steel's novels. Upside Down is no exception to this formula. Wealth in a steel novel is a given, but all this wealth also makes people a target. As a result, Steel's characters deal with blackmail, fraud, and extortion. Differences in age are nicely defined and the plot works well. Steel's readers want to escape and they want a happy ending, and Steel knows her audience. While characters and plots are familiar to Steel's readers, they are also appealing and enjoyable. Steel fans will embrace this novel, which is exactly how I will rate it.

Thank you to Danielle Steel, her publisher Random House Ballentine, and NetGalley for providing me with this ARC in exchange for reviewing this novel honestly, which I have done. I do not read a lot of romance novels, but Danielle Steel is several steps above the usual. Her fans should love this novel and enjoy reading it.

I liked this, but it's all the same with Danielle Steel now.

"Upside Down" follows a familiar theme found in many of Danielle Steel's novels. The story revolves around an aging actress who possesses flawless physical attributes and a seemingly perfect life. However, her relationship with her child becomes strained, leading to outbursts of frustration and resentment. Amidst the challenges, the protagonist must summon the strength to open her heart to love once more. While the book may not have been particularly captivating, I found myself compelled to read it until the very end.

Loved reading the engaging and engrossing story. When Ardith's boyfriend, Bill, is away in London working on a movie, Ardith is suppose to get a woman to help her, but instead she gets a handsome, young, out of work actor, Josh, but when Bill accidentally dies, Josh is by Ardith's side helping her. Meanwhile, Ardith's daughter, is dating an older man. Read the highly recommended, wonderfully written, and a must read riveting upside down story written by the phenomenal author, Danielle Steel.

This was a little slow for me at first. It got better as it went on. The daughter is dating older man while mom is dating a younger man. Truly upside down. Danielle Steel has wrote another life happens book. I recommend this book with 4 stars.
