This is a good book. The two main characters are Nia and Enzo. They meet when Nia was a senior in high school, they both worked at a pizza restaurant. They started dating. They broke up when she went to Stanford. During her senior year at Stanford her Dad had cancer. That summer Nia and Enzo started dating again, but they broke up again. They had to figure out what they wanted and to trust each other. They fell in love.

A friend to lovers' story that is all consuming, heartbreaking, missed chances and fate of the heart.

It is a quick read that will leave you wanting more and so smitten in true love. This is my first book by this author but will not be my last. I am looking forward to reading more from her.

Nia Collins likes her safe little bubble she has created, so when Enzo DeLuca returns to New York to take a break from his concert tour, she feels her heart and her bubble will burst. He is the world's biggest pop star, and she is the same when he left her for stardom two years ago. Both swear they have moved on, but the heart does not agree, like a magnet they are drawn to each other.

Can they put the past behind them and pave a road back to each other?

Thank you to NetGalley and Kindle Editon for a copy this story for my honest review.

Thanks to NetGalley, Teresa Roman, and Victoria Editing for the ARC of “Between Us”.
Enzo and Nia meet when they are in their late teens working in a pizza parlor. Now has plans to attend Stanford in the fall while Enzo is pursuing his love of music. Over the summer they fall in love and Nia considers changing her plans, but is talked out of it. Through a series of six years (in flashback) we learn the history of these two young people and divergent futures where she is a youth worker and he is an internationally famous singer.

The storyline was sweet and the emotionality of the characters was in keeping with their ages. I think someone younger would really enjoy this story more than I did, simply because I am so removed from first love and being a teenager. I felt the author did a lot of telling versus showing, and that diminished the intensity for me by ironically taking me out of the story.

All in all, this is a warm, romantic tale about falling in love with your best friend.

Spoiler review as I did find it good but I couldn’t explain my rating without a few spoilers. I’d still encourage potential readers to pick up the book and try it, but I wanted to get my thoughts out.

Spice - 🌶️🌶️

Like I say, I did enjoy this book, but I have conflicting feelings.

I couldn’t put this book down. From chapter 1 I wanted to keep reading to see what happens, which is rare these days.

I didn’t particularly feel any attachment to any of the characters, but it was an easy read. I was really enjoying reading it up until the scene where Nia goes to Jamaica volunteering.

I wasn’t a fan of how the author typed how the Jamaicans speak, as for me I just found it felt a bit distasteful. I can understand why it was done this way, but I couldn’t help but feel it made the family appear unintelligent. In the grand scheme of the plot it didn’t seem to add anything either.

I did find myself rooting for Nia and Enzo, but i think the story fell a bit short. There wasn’t a whole lot of substance aside from they’ve known each other years and we’re passing ships. I would’ve liked to have seen a bit more depth to their relationship.

The last chapter was too much. Yes they’ve been “in love” for 6 years but they’ve only been together for a few months at a time, no longer than 1 year in total. So going from dating, to living together, to engaged within the space of 2 pages was way too fast.

Overall I thought it was a good read, and I’d probably read a sequel if one was ever made, as I am intrigued about how the relationship will work with him being famous, but I don’t think I’d reread this one.

Between Us was a great novel that invokes a lot of feelings. There is love and hope, but also betrayal and hurt. Deep hurt. It was a great second chance at love novel, but it was so much more. The glimpse of all the layers of relationships is really eye opening. This is a simple look into the characters lives, but each life builds upon another and each action affects the next person, until the house of cards comes crashing down. This is a powerful look at how people are flawed, but how they can become better, or worse depending on their decisions.

Thank you to NetGalley for an advance reader copy in exchange for a fair review.

Quick Summary: A friends to lovers, young love, time heals all wounds NA

My Review: Between Us by Teresa Roman was a very involved gen fic/new adult romance. It highlighted the relationship between Nia Collins and Enzo DeLuca.

Question to Consider: Is it possible to meet the love of your life when you are young?

About the Book: Nia and Enzo became friends. They spent time together. They shared their hopes and dreams with one another. They gave their hearts to each other. When life interruptions came, they had to learn how to navigate their way through. Who ever said the course to true love was easy?

About the Conflict: Learning how to become the person you were always meant to be can be challenging. When you add family drama, life struggles, betrayals, loss, and love into the mix, it can be consuming. Nia and Enzo both had to face the aforementioned. All either could say in the end is that the heart wants what it wants.

My Final Say: This story is so sweet and so heartbreakingly familiar. I, honestly, could not put it down. It is a true NA read.

A few years ago, Enzo signed a record deal that took him away to Los Angeles and broke Nia's heart. They both claim to have moved on, but when Enzo takes a break from his rockstar life and spends some time with Nia, he admits he still has feelings for her. Nia is unsure what she wants and is scared of having her heart broken again when Enzo goes back on tour. This book is a second chance romance that will inspire all the feels.

Between Us by Teresa Roman was the romance story I didn’t know I needed!
Well, this stunning second chance romance is an absolute must read.
A well written story that hooked me early on. I really enjoyed the writing here. I think Roman did a very good job with her characters and setting.
She hooked me and had me up really late finishing this story.
She has crafted a great contemporary emotional romance.

I would like to thank NetGalley and Victory Editing for the opportunity to read this ahead of its publication date in return for my honest review.

Two years have passed and Enzo is back from his concert tour to take a break. He wants to see Nia. Nia tells her best friend Reyna that he was her first love. When they meet up, Nia finds he has a girlfriend now, but he tells Nia he misses a private life. In the past, we see Nia was hurt when he broke it off when she went away to college. Something happens and the the girlfriend is gone. When when Enzo says he loves her he says come back to LA with me. Nia is afraid he will leave her again. Does she go to LA?

I loved these types of book especially with the rock star element. I greatly enjoyed Between Us and I know readers will as well. The book kept me in suspense the whole time wondering if our main characters were going to reconnect the way we wanted them to or if fane gets in the way of things. Very good choice if you’re looking for a book if you enjoyed Daisy Jones and other similar books.

Right off the bat, this book started off super fast paced, but in a sort of whirl wind way. Also, the MMC is introduced as having a girlfriend (Heather) who is not our FMC. He also keeps this girlfriend throughout the majority of the book (chapters 1-13 and there are only 16 chapters) They only breakup because Heather cheats. This is not the typical trope I like, since I prefer the MMC and FMC are only with each other during the duration of the book.

I found the best friend Reyna to be very annoying. I get it, you are meeting a celebrity you love, but calm down. She says “OMG” way too many times. Heather the girlfriend was also irritating by being a stereotypical dumb model who just wants to drink and get high, and likes to make fun of Nia’s job as a librarian.

Enzo was strangely clingy to Nia. They are friends at first, but sneaking around behind your girlfriends back to hang with Nia but claiming it’s now sneaking because Heather never asked where he was going…it was all a bit weird.

I could not get a read on Nia. She is so emotionless about Enzo. You would think we’d have some internal monologue about what she thinks of Enzo having a girlfriend or what she thinks of him moving back to NY… but we don’t. In fact I don’t think she even loves him at times.

I did like the flashbacks to when Enzo and Nia were young, but honestly I hated Enzo just as much as Nia did after a few of those flashbacks. Talk about heartbreak.
