I instantly fell in love with this book. My first of Ms. Keyes. and liked it so much I purchased another shortly after finishing this one! There were a lot of moments that made me literally laugh out loud, as well as some that made me tear up. Quite an array of emotions.
Nice thing to, it is a book you can reread, and enjoy again.
Thank you to NetGalley for an advance reader copy in exchange for a fair review.
thank you to netgalley for the advanced reading copy. I really enjoyed this and will be getting copies for my shop.
I've read a number of historical romances by this author, but this is my first time reading one of her contemporary works. She definitely shines in historical fiction, and I think she's on the same path in this genre as well. The story was fresh and fun and sweet and flirtations, all wrapped up in a cozy bundle. Sienna flies off to France to undertake her duties as wedding planner for her best friend Madi. She seems to be a bit over her head though, but no matter how overwhelmed she gets, she refuses to accept help from Madi's brother, Jack, who is a number one flirt. They have sort of a history together and she has been harboring a huge crush for him, but she's not going to let that spoil her friend's wedding. Jack freely admits that he hasn't been the best brother to Madi, but he wants to change all that. He genuinely wants to help Sienna make Madi's wedding a success. Given their brief, but impactful history, the only problem now is convincing Sienna of his sincerity.
The setting of the story was beautiful and romantic and the author really brought the story to life with vivid descriptions and attention to details. I really enjoyed the witty dialogue and Jack's cheeky comebacks. They had me cracking up and smiling along. And the chemistry between them just sizzled and crackled off the page. Looks like this is the first book of a new series, so I am looking forward to many more to come!
Thank you to Netgalley and Paradigm Press for providing a complimentary copy. This is my voluntary and honest opinion.
Just delightful. I read Host for the Holidays last year, which this is the follow up of her friend and her brother. I had no idea going into that I would get to see Maddie and Remy again. I loved the connection. And Sienna and Jack were just perfect. We get glimpses of where they were years before and then we see their second chance while preparing for Maddie and Remy’s wedding in France. It was a magical story full of mishaps while trying to navigate a country where you don’t know the language and feelings that you are supposed to be hiding! I loved it! This was a great book!!
Jack and Siena's story does not disappoint! I love Martha Keyes books and was so excited to see this in the series. Fall in love with Jack and France in Kissing for Keeps.
If you are looking for a clean romance that will have your heart swooning then pick this up immediately!!
Tropes featured: second chance romance, forbidden romance, and best friend's brother. The chemistry between Sienna and Jack was believable every step of the way and built wonderfully to the conclusion. They had fantastic banter and good back stories that built character depth. I will definitely be picking up the next in the series!
This is such a cute read. I really like Jack and Siena's dynamic. I love all the wedding talk and the French vibes. This book needs more hype.
I recently read Kissing for Keeps by Martha Keyes, and it was a delightful romantic comedy that left me with a smile on my face. The story revolves around Siena, who is the maid of honor at her best friend Madi's French wedding. Siena is determined to prove to herself that she can do the job well, despite having recently failed at work. However, she refuses any help from Madi's brother, Jack, who once had a fling with her.
The book is a fun and light-hearted read that will make you laugh and swoon. The author has done an excellent job of creating relatable characters that are easy to connect with. Siena and Jack's banter and playful teasing are entertaining, and their chemistry is off the charts.
Kissing for Keeps is a well-written romantic comedy that will keep you engaged from the beginning to the end. The plot is well-crafted, and the pacing is perfect. The book is a closed-door romance, which means that the love scenes are not explicit, making it suitable for a wider audience.
Overall, I highly recommend Kissing for Keeps to anyone who loves romantic comedies. It's a delightful book that will leave you with a warm and fuzzy feeling in your heart. The characters are charming, and the story is engaging, making it a perfect read for a lazy afternoon or a weekend getaway.
4.0
Score adjusted for swoon-worthy French château setting. And don’t get even get me started on the local village being the backdrop for the movie Ever After!
This is a cute romcom. It’s nothing groundbreaking, but it’s a cute, quick-moving story, not overly done and not completely derivative of some classic tale. Siena and Jack are both likable, both a little layered, and are up against an understandable wall (and I’m not talking about the kiss in the ruins). They have ignored each other for seven years, but it’s harder to deny your feelings when you’re staying together for two weeks in a cottage on said chateau grounds. Add that to the fact that they are both going through some things, along with a lot of delicious strawberries, plus some harrowing parking drama, and it’s a nice romance. It’s also without sex scenes if you like to get away from all of the explicitness common in the modern romcom.
This is apparently the first in a series about Siena Sheppard and I assume maybe her siblings, though you can read the summaries for the next two books on Goodreads if you’d like to know.
I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for providing an unbiased review.
This was such a sweet, second chance romance story!! Sienna and Jack met back in college at a party and when Jack tried to find her, he realized that it was his sisters roommate and they both pretended that they never met each other. Fast forward to his sisters wedding, Jack and Sienna have kept up the story that they just dislike each other and there is no attraction there. But when they end up going to France for the wedding to help, they spend lots of time together and can't fight that attraction anymore.
I love the banter between Jack and Sienna and how they both tried so hard to resist the obvious attraction. They were both willing to do whatever it took to make it the best wedding day for Madi.
I loved Sienna in Host For The Holidays so I was excited to read her story. She and her best friend Madi's brother had history from seven years before that Madi didn't know about. They kept it a secret since Madi had in so many words forbidden Jack from dating her friends after losing some to his player ways.
Jack was the sweetest in helping Sienna with the wedding preparations. I loved the "only one room" situation in France. It definitely helped push things along.
That said, I didn't feel their connection as much. I get that they wanted to protect Madi but seven years is a long time who is within reach.
I did love the France setting; the chateau, the villages and the markets, all amazing.
Thank you to Netgalley and Publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
A big thank you to NetGalley and Paradigm Press for the eARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This is part of a series. This is a fast paced, made me smile romance. I found it not that believable but still enjoyable. Who hides a kiss from their best friend? What the heck? That was a bit odd. Anyway if you ignore that it is fun. 3 stars
My thanks for the ARC goes to NetGalley and Paradigm Press. I am voluntarily leaving a review.
Genre: Contemporary Romance, Sweet Romance
Spice Level: Kissing and references to kissing
Tropes: Best friend's brother, Second chance
My confession is that I'd forgotten this was a sweet romance, and when the reveal that the "thing" that happened in the past was a kiss, I was thrown. It just didn't seem that serious to justify all the hubbub. BUT the author gave enough background to make it work.
I enjoyed the couple and the location in France as well as the moments when they kissed. The sister/best friend was also great. And sweet romances are my jam. It wasn't terribly realistic, but I didn't care and enjoyed myself. The emotions were realistic.
All the romance readers out there are going to eat this up along with the truffles.
Happy reading!
This was a cute read! I enjoyed the story and the characters. Kissing for the Keeps is the first book in Martha Keye’s Sheppards in Love series. First of all, the cover is so fun and it totally drew my eye. But the story was also good.
Sienna was a relatable character. She was struggling with control and perfection. I liked reading about Sienna and getting to know her. She was just trying her best to help her friend and in a way redeem herself for her failed campaign management. Jack was a sweetheart. Jack was a lot of fun and I liked how he matched Sienna. Jack was struggling to figure out how to interact with Sienna and how to be a good brother to Madi as they prepared for her wedding.
Siena and Jack had the funniest interactions. I enjoyed reading about their relationship. They had a fun banter. They also balanced each other and helped each other be better. I wasn’t sure how they were going to end up together and I was really engaged in the story. The side characters were interesting and I loved that it was set in France, so fun!
Kissing for Keeps is a wonderful romantic comedy. I would definitely recommend it. The characters drew me in and I am so excited to read the next books in the series. Kissing for Keeps is a closed door romantic comedy
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the publisher through Netgalley. All views expressed are only my honest opinion, a positive review was not required.
Kissing for Keeps is a sweet and cute romance. I loved the French setting. Who wouldn’t want a wedding there? Both characters were likeable making it an easy read.
A lovely romantically rm com with laugh out loud moments. Trying to deliver the perfect French wedding for her friend Madi, Siena reconnects with Jack and eventually finds love for herself. Looking forward to reading more from this author.

This was an amazing read! The writing style is phenomenal and I loved the how the scenes came off of the page! I loved how we got to see Siena and Jack grow and end up in the end. I hope to see more bits of them in the future!
This was such a nice palette cleanser! It had just the right amount of comedy, romance, and overall was just a well written story. Thanks for letting me read it early!
This was a nice fun contemporary romance. It had some nice moments. Nothing that pops but overall a nice story. I love being really involved in the couple falling in love and Keyes books give me that every time. She is one of my go to authors for a good romance.
I always wondered why romcoms where romantic *comedies*, because I don't usually find them funny. But "Kissing for Keeps"? This one had me laughing out loud more than once! (which was a bit embarrassing when I was reading it in the bus). I'm really not the kind of person who usually does that, so Martha Keyes definitely has a talent for humour!
"Kissing for Keeps" follows Siena, the best friend of Madi from "Host for the Holidays" whose wedding is about to be celebrated. Siena is the maid of honour and party planner, and she wants to give it her all to make this wedding the best event ever — and forget how she failed at her job as political campaigner. And Madi's brother Jack is here to help her (which is not so helpful, considering their past history) — and both of them know they're not allowed to fall for each other.
I loved everything about this book. From the first chapter, I got sucked into the book and had a hard time putting it down. I loved the well-developed characters, Siena and Jack, who have their own personalities, qualities and faults, and who really have a great chemistry together. The banter was amazing. The plot worked well, the setting was great and really added something to the book (the château was nearly a character in itself). And I appreciated the correct usage of the French language and the accuracy of the descriptions of France (being French myself). (The only thing that is unbelievable is a 30-something called Jean-Paul — the rest is basically spotless).
I loved this book, highly recommend it, and cannot wait for the rest of the Sheppards in Love series!
