Great quick Christmas thriller that will have you on the edge. This novella was a very atmospheric thriller that had me questioning the main character reason for staying in such an isolated area. Romee and Landon had booked a very romantic getaway for Christmas. However, Landon decided that he no longer wanted to be in the relationship. What could Romee do but go to the cabin and drink, eat and read her sorrows away. Once she reaches the cabin, that is very isolate, she notices odd things are occurring. Is she imagining things being moved & hearing odd sounds or is someone watching her from outside? I really enjoyed this and look forward to more novels from Meyer Matthews.
Thank you so much for the opportunity to have read and advanced copy of this book by earc. I appreciate the opportunity to read and review.
Romee booked a romantic Christmas vacation for her boyfriend and herself in a secluded rustic cabin high in the mountains expecting that her lover would pop the big question but at the last minute he literally dumps her. Romee is devastated and since she can't get her hefty deposit back she decides to go alone and try to recover and sort her life problems out since none of her friends are available to go with Romee for all of them had made previous holiday plans.
Romee could be a very comical and naïve character but her dire situation brought out strengths and also some serious and humorous blunders. Quick easy read that makes you second guess your surroundings.
A nice quick holiday read

An Unexpected Christmas Terror Surprise!
From the moment Romee arrives at the cabin something feels off, she hears many odd sounding noises and feels like she is being watched as well, but figures it's only because she's not used to being alone in a strange place. Six days to go and thinking this was a bad idea and maybe she should go back home when the snow starts falling and falling and then turns into a blizzard.
More noises, items which seem moved out of place almost as if someone came into the cabin which is impossible since she has never left and also she has been drinking quite a bit trying to drown her sorrows, so maybe her wine fueled imagination is creating havoc where everything is actually normal. Even if she wanted to leave now, she can't because It is wild outside with snow accumulating by the hour and whiteout visibility, plus the roads were already treacherous driving up the mountain in good weather so now it would be virtually impossible for Romee to navigate down the mountain roads without chains on her tires. Now the real terror will begin!
What else could go wrong? Well plenty more, and I've said enough and I don't want to give anything more away, so readers really should get this book to find out about the terror, the fun, the horror, the unpredictable nightmare that will reign down upon Romee.
What an entertaining and unexpected surprise this book was for myself. The storyline drew me in and I felt so bad for Romee and and her problems and I was
forgetting this was going to be a horror/thriller and it didn't disappoint once the action started. The frigid and isolated mountain setting was definitely convincing and just added to the enjoyment of the story. There were many twists and turns packed into this novella with quite a bit of dark humor as well.
Romee could be a very comical and naive character but her dire situation brought out strengths and also some serious and humorous blunders where I didn't know how she would survive in this crazy, scary, sometimes very funny yet violent and brutal situations. All I know is I will never go on a secluded trip alone! Ever!
I definitely recommend this enjoyable and terrifying holiday novella by Meyer Matthews that can be read any time of year and I look forward to reading more from this author!
I want to thank the self-published author Meyer Matthews and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this terrific book and any thoughts or opinions expressed are unbiased and mine alone!
I have given a rating of 4 DELIGHTFUL HORRIFYING 🌟🌟🌟🌟 STARS!!
Wow what an action packed read. It’s a short read, but I was on the edge of my seat. Really enjoyed this one and look forward to more.
great for what it was. I am not huge on holiday books, but was pleasantly surprised with this one. it did its job and i enjoyed my time while reading.
Started off slow and intriguing, becomes a bit of a blood bath. I thought there were gonna be more twists. But still entertaining and good vibes for a winter thriller.
t started out like a simple, almost romcom-ish type story, and then it turned pretty ugly. The trigger warning from the author at the beginning was pretty spot-on about the impending gore. Had I not read that part, I would have been quite surprised. I will take a cue from the main character and keep my Stanley close!
Thank you to NetGalley for providing an ARC of this title, in exchange for my honest review.

I binged the hell out of it! While the first half was building up the suspense, the latter half was intense and I couldn't put the book down. And although I did think momentarily the writing was kinda odd and monotonous, I quickly realized that it rather has a natural tone and this is exactly how I'd talk in my head in that situation. Also, the events in this book are scary because it can actually happen! (Side note: I'm never going on a solo trip)

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
I absolutely loved this thriller! It is a short novella so it’s a super quick read. And let me tell you I absolutely binged this story.
It had me in the edge of my seat and spiraling about what was going to happen next. This book somehow gives Christmas vibes while also being absolutely terrifying and I loved every second of it.

Meyer Matthew's debut novella, I'll Be Alone For Christmas, is a holiday thriller. Romee planned her holiday break months in advance-a week-long stay at a cabin with her boyfriend of two years. However, her boyfriend has other plans and breaks up with her right before the trip. Feeling that a solitary trip to a mountain cabin, with books and wine, is just what she needs, Romee takes off for the mountains. The cabin is in slightly worse condition than advertised and she feels uneasy from the start. Noises, strange occurrences and just the eerie feeling she isn't alone settles in Romee. The strange events, escalating along with the wine, she is increasingly unsettled. Deciding to leave, Romee realizes it's too late-a winter storm prevents her from making a getaway. The danger begins to feel too real-and might be coming from inside the cabin-but how is that possible? In a gory, creepy thriller, Meyer Matthews takes more of a Black Christmas approach to their debut thriller-3.5 stars.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest feedback.
I'll Be Alone For Christmas written by Meyer Matthews was definitely something else. Don't let the cover fool you, this book was a wild ride. I enjoyed this book to a certain extent, but there was just a little bit too much information missing for me to actually love it. I'll Be Alone For Christmas is a suspenseful novella filled with terror, a dash of gore, and packed with Christmas spirit. I definitely got the Christmassy vibes with this novella, but I didn't expect so much gore in a Christmas novella, I'm not complaining about the gore at all, there was just too much information that was missing. This is a bingeable story, that will quickly have you turning the pages, with only 163 pages, I finished this book in one sitting. If you get grossed out by blood and killing, this book is NOT for you. If you love Christmas, gore, and stalking, then I can't recommend this book enough. Just because I didn't love this novella, doesn't mean someone else won't, these are just my thoughts and opinions.
THANK YOU TO NETGALLEY AND MEYER MATTHEWS FOR AN ARC OF THIS BOOK IN EXCHANGE FOR AN HONEST REVIEW!!!!!!
Romee had her winter break planned out months in advanced. A week at a cabin in the woods sounded romantic, and maybe this trip was just what her boyfriend of two years needed to pop the question. Instead of asking Romee to marry him, he proposed that they break up a week before Christmas. Romee might be heart broken, but she still decides to take this trip by herself. I mean a cabin in the woods all by yourself? Absolutely not, Romee realizes she's not alone. Being snowed in the cabin, fears running wild, what is Romee going to do? She can't do anything but wait out this snowstorm with a secret killer lurking around. This cabin is very secluded, it's up on a hill, so Romee can't get down the hill and ask for help because of all the snow that has piled up. If you were to go on a romantic getaway, but your boyfriend broke up with you a week before Christmas, and there was a lurking killer around, what would you do? Again, these are just my own opinions on this book, others might like it way more than I did, but don't let my review stop you from picking it up.
I really enjoyed this book. It painted the picture perfectly of how a woman alone could be so dangerous especially in a place where no one can get to them. I love the title and cover and how they really throw you off from what the book ends up being. Super entertaining, a fast read and enjoyable for someone who does not like Christmas themed books but wants to enjoy a good thriller!
4 stars
The perfect winter read if you're sick of Christmas rom-coms and want a dark, creepy suspense. I loved tihs one and couldn't put it down!
If you are looking for holiday romance…
this is not it! Lol
A great quick holiday thriller that gets your heart pumping and wondering what’s next! Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this new author.
2.5 rounded up
Decent kills but unfortunately I found the main character insufferable. I feel like the tension would've hit better if she wasn't already a paranoid wreck. It was trying to be home alone x the strangers x you're next but didn't quite succeed (predictable villain, wished the mc died, etc). Also "And when I inspect the trash can in the bathroom I don’t use, I don’t see a Gatorade bottle full of pee." WHY WOULD THERE BE A BOTTLE OF PEE IN THE BATHROOM.
I’ll be Alone for Christmas | Meyer Matthews
I have been slacking on posting the past few weeks, but I knew I had to get a review up for this one before the holiday season is over because it was perfection. I have been into thriller holiday novellas this year and this was such a HIT.
You certainly still have allllll the time needed to squeeze this in! Not only was it the perfect length to read in one sitting, but the suspense is through the ROOF! I was nervous flipping pages and reading after dark. I don’t know about you, but that is such a win for a short novella like this.
Loved the eerie atmosphere, the suspense, the story. I was obsessed with it all! ALSO supporting indie authors will always be my favorite thing to do.
This was such an easy 5 ⭐️ read for me and so fun this holiday season!
I literally couldn't put this book down and read the whole thing in an evening on accident. The cover is so cute, and then the content warning hits you at the beginning?! I didn't realize I needed Christmas horror in my life, but I, in fact, do.
This book had me in fight or flight mode from my house (with all door and window locks quadruple checked, of course). In the age of airbnb horror stories, this felt outrageous, but not in an unrealistic way. Things did feel a bit rushed, but this is of course a novella and a debut work. I'll be keeping a close eye on Matthews so I can pick up whatever they release next!
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for gifting me a copy of this read for an honest review.
Your next Christmas thriller! Get into the holiday mood with a scare. A very eerie read that had me not wanting to be alone. I enjoyed that thrill and the hints of the holiday season. Also a quick read which I enjoyed for a holiday book. Despite the short length of the novella, I was able to understand the main character and connect in a way that you may not always get with a thriller. I did want to know the why of the killers more.
3.75/5 stars!
