A delightful romance story with gorgeous hints of Jane Austen characters and storylines sprinkled throughout.
Clemmie is a die hard romantic reading fan and had set up impossible high expectations for her own life based on her favourite romance novels and her parents own marriage. It was interesting to find out her backstory with Ross and to watch them reconnect when fate throws them back together.
Ross is painted as a flirt and womaniser at first, but as you get to know him as the story unfolds, you realise that he is the opposite.
A lovely slow burn romance story that was fantastic to read. Great characters and situations made this a pleasant experience.

Clemmie & Ross have a complicated history. While they seem to resolve some issues having been snowed in together, rumour and misunderstanding fuel the embers of this fire.
It's a nice easy read, perfect for cosying up with.

I enjoyed this lightheaded romantic story. It was an easy read with an unexpected twist. A good winter holiday read.

Snowflakes and Surprises in Tuppenny Bridge by Sharon Booth is a romance novel set around Christmas time. This is the third book in the series, but my first visit to Tuppenny Bridge. I don’t think it’s necessary to read the first two to understand and enjoy this novel.

The story centers around Clemmie, a woman in her 20s with a secret that causes a rift between her and her now ex-boyfriend Ross. Ross is a painter and a bit of a local celebrity. Clemmie picks the winning ticket in the village Christmas raffle and is mortified because the prize is a portrait painted by none other than her ex, Ross. These circumstances throw them together after six years apart, and they discover that maybe they still have feelings for one another.

It started slow, and while I never felt hooked by the story, I liked most of the characters, especially Clemmie’s aunt Dolly. There is a lot of stuff happening in the plot line, and everyone in Tuppenny Bridge has a secret. It’s very, “But wait, there’s more!” Clemmie’s secret was unique and one I had never encountered before in a novel. I like the way the author handled it.

I was expecting a fun, cozy Christmas romance, but this novel was more profound and more complex than I expected and not very Christmasy, which is why I rate it 3.5/5.

Another lovely read in this series. I enjoyed this festive story. It was warm and cozy and was like meeting g up with an old friend. I hope there are more in this series soon. My thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.

A story of secrets, misunderstandings, grief, and second chances, this is a heartwarming, cosy read, great for a cold day with a hot chocolate in hand. The characters are well developed and I enjoyed their journey, sharing their ups and downs, and rooting for them to have a happy ending. While Clemmie comes across as naïve and prone to making assumptions, which annoyed me at times, I warmed to her as the story progressed. I also enjoyed the busy-body gossip aspect of the story which added to the authenticity of a small village community. The author paints a beautiful picture of the village and I found myself wishing I were there.
Since reading this book, I have discovered it is part of a series so I will be adding those to my list to read. I don’t feel that I have missed anything important by not reading the previous two books though, and I feel this can be read as a stand-alone novel.

I found this book a bit of a difficult to begin with, I found the main female character, Clemmie, to be not very likeable, quite childish and a bit ridiculous at times. That being said, overall I really enjoyed this book, the further I got into it the more I enjoyed it, I liked how it all came together at the end, it was a nice cosy winter read

This book is a warm and gentle read. Like wrapping in a furry throw. The setting is lovely and the characters interesting. Just right for this time of year for romance lovers

I had read the previous Tuppenny Bridge book and though these sort of contemporary romance novels are not normally the the sort I go for I felt I wanted to find out more about the people of Tuppenny Bridge.

This was essentially Clemmie's story and her breakup with Ross. This was her choice as she would not share a fundamental secret with him. This had destroyed her self-esteem and seemed to have altered her completely so that she came over as just an unpleasant person.

However it became apparent that her 'problem' could be considered life changing for many of us and I wont provide spoilers for those that read after me

The book is well written and obviously well researched. I would have liked to have read of more of the options that had been available to Clemmie - and perhaps she would not have come over as such a superficial person.
This is essentially a romance and of course along the way there are misunderstandings and reconciliations.

I can unequivocally say I enjoyed this Tuppenny Bridge story, the second I've read now, and know I will be following these characters as the series progresses.

After a short, rocky start, this sweet second chance romance which takes place in the dark days of winter grew on me. The opening spewed out so many characters in a few pages that I was overwhelmed. But that only lasted briefly and then it became clear where the story was going and which main characters would feature. I ended up breezing through it looking for a happy solution for the two former lovers, Regency romance enthusiast Clemmie Grant and handsome serial dater artist Ross Lavender. The ending was what I'd hoped for though it could have been taken a bit further into their future.

Along the way, miscommunication and the influence of the village rumor mill kept up the tension between the two. The fault for the misunderstanding bounced back and forth. Maybe a tad too long. And Clemmie's dire secret reason for splitting with Ross six years earlier took what seemed forever to come out. But when it was, boy, it was SO not what I was expecting! The big reveal moment was excellent; I had no idea it was coming and after, I understood why Clemmie was so scared to stay with Ross or try again.

Clemmie's secret issue was very sensitively handled by the author and I applaud her for engaging and educating readers on a condition not particularly well understood.

A surprise for Clemmie that makes her reconsider her attitude toward true love and a well-loved friend with a fatal illness added some nice, emotional moments to the plot. And, for Jane Austen and Jane Eyre fans, there are some great references to classic romances and even their movie interpretations.

There was a lot more to this book than I anticipated. It took me a little bit to get into, but once I did, I was truly invested in the outcome. This appears to be a Christmas story but is actually a winter story with just a little Christmas at the beginning.

Clemmie is enjoying singing Christmas songs at a local event when her fun is brought to a screeching halt when she wins the grand prize in a drawing. One would think that winning a grand prize would be great, but not for Clemmie. She has won the opportunity to have her portrait painted by a renowned local artist who also happens to be her ex. They are not each other's biggest fan. Or are they? There are a lot of unresolved feelings and issues that come out over the course of the book and definitely some surprises for the characters that I wasn't expecting. I learned that this is one of several books in a series of standalones. I kind of wished I had read the earlier books just to get more of a feel for the community and side characters. That being said, I didn't have any trouble following the story of Clemmie and Ross and rather enjoyed how it played out.

I’m not sure what I was expecting from this book, but it was a treat to discover a thoroughly researched book that included a well-kept secret. A second chance romance that had me guessing right up until the truth came out. This story was part of a series, but I can honestly say that the construction was so well designed that I didn’t feel at a disadvantage from not having read the previous instalments.
I immediately felt at home in Tuppenny Bridge and the surrounding villages and could imagine them clearly from the beautiful descriptions. I’m not a fan of snow, but do like reading about it, and there was plenty of it in this story. In fact, I believe that snow played a large part in the story and helped orchestrate a difficult truce.
Clemmie was a complex character who I didn’t feel a lot in common with, but I was rooting for her happy ending. Her obsession with regency romance novels was a lovely plot line, but it left her feeling disappointed with real life. In fact, it had already been the reason for her failed relationship with Ross.
Ross, on the other hand, was a character that I immediately liked. I appreciate that he wasn’t a joy to be around, from the get-go, but he was every bit the romantic hero as his brooding nature unfolded. In fact, as we learned more about him, it was obvious that Clemmie had misjudged him, but the why was not as easy to see.
A wonderful complication was the introduction of Reuben Walker. Visiting from London, he was a gorgeous addition to the story, and I was left guessing where and how he was going to fit into the story. When all was revealed, I loved it!
This story wrapped me in a warm hug and left me feeling rather emotional. Each character is beautifully developed and thoroughly relatable. There are no spoilers from me, but I can happily recommend reading this book and the others in the series. I’m so glad that I got to meet this wonderful author, it was a real treat.

This book did not work for me.
I hate the miscommunication trope and the whole story is just one miscommunication / misunderstanding after another. Basically every obstacle/problem could be solved within 5 pages if the two main characters just talked to eachother instead of assuming and/or jumping to (wrong) conclusions.

The novels in this series make me feel good, smile and root for the characters..Festive and heartwarming, I liked it and I'm sure there's more to come

Great book a little frustrating would have liked the ending to come sooner and enjoyed reading more about where the lead characters go. A follow up is definitely required on this!

Book 3 of The Tuppenny Bridge series, but my 1st and I found it to be really easy to get into so shows you that it can be read as a standalone! Although now I'm excited to go back and read the first 2 in this series for more cosy romance!!

This is a lovely story that centres around past loves and the stubbornness of characters! At the heart of it is Clemmie who loves herself a good book boyfriend - don't we all?! - and who is nursing a broken heart still after many years. So she finds life safer in the pages of the books she reads and writes!

Her ex, Ross, is a painter and has offered the prize of a portrait to be painted so guess who wins it!! Both are really not keen on the idea of having to spend time together again and it makes them both look over what happened to cause them to split, so this was really fascinating to see how the story played out back then.

The stubbornness of Clemmie really is a big problem as she hates admitting when she's wrong, and you really do wonder if the past is stopping them from having a future together. I loved the setting of the story and it was really easy to read and escape in to!
