This was a quick, bingeable read. The twists kept me on the edge of my seat the whole way through - the perfect poolside / spring break read. Loved this one!
Another atmospheric, twisty thriller from Glass. The Sycamores, a run down motel, hosts a vast array of secrets. Cass, who is responsible for keeping the place, knows some of them but not all and now people are dying. No spoilers from me but know that your assumptions will be challenged. Thanks to the publisher for the ARC. A page turner.
This is my second Seraphina Nova Glass book and I really enjoyed it. The pace was great and it just pulled me in from the beginning. I felt like I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. It was a great rollercoaster with lots of twists. A very enjoyable read. I would highly recommend.
A 'new to me' author with an entertaining tale. One of those where you know the stories will intersect and the mystery will be solved. Case and Anna are great characters, with a whole host of interesting people at the Sycamores apartments.
On A Quiet Street was a top thriller of 2023, so this was a highly anticipated book for me. It wasn’t quite as good, but still really enjoyable! Lots of good twists and a fast paced plot.
Thank you to Seraphina Nova Glass, HTP, and Netaglley for early access to this book in exchange for an honest review. Seraphina Nova Glass is becoming an auto-read author for me. I have enjoyed all of her thrillers and this one did not disappoint. Her characters are always a little off but that’s what makes the stories so engaging. The twists in this story were twisting and I did not see the main reveal coming. The setting was very unique and added a unique flare to the story. Solid entertaining thriller that you should definitely add to your list. Releases April 9th.
4.25/5 Stars
Anna is shocked when her husband calls her with a terrible confession; even more so when the police find his body. Desperate for answers, she checks into a run-down motel turned apartment that her husband was using as an art studio.
I loved On A Quiet Street so was excited to try this one. It is a much slower pace than that read, but I still recommend it. It has some very interesting characters and the setting really makes the story. It was so easy to imagine the characters by the pool and the seedy motel rooms.
The Vacancy in Room 10 comes out 4/9.
Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this eARC.
Seraphina Nova Glass is one of my favorite authors, her books are absolute delights and this one is no exception.
The Vacancy tells the story of the residents of a dive of an old hotel made into a dive of an apartment complex.
The main character takes care of the maintenance for her rent, and she blackmails drunk men. Just one of the imaginative characters in this novel.
Wonderful writing, with multilayered mysterious circumstances make this novel "one to watch in 2024".
Tha Vacancy in Room 10 is a truly an entertaining mystery novel.
I want to start off by saying I LOVE the cover of this book. It instantly pulled me in.
The book takes place in the Sycamore apartments which used to be a motel. We are in the POV of two women, Cass & Anna.
Cass is the handy ma'am of the complex & Anna is a "new" resident after her husband mysteriously dies and she moves into the unit he was using as his art studio. Honestly, I loved the setting and characters of this book, it all seemed to fit so well. What was hard for me to get into with the dialogue, felt blah to me. Normally I bust through books but sometimes I didn't want to read this one, there just seemed to be something missing for me. I don't know if I wasn't as invested in this book as I hoped or if I truly didn't see it coming but the end was shocking, which was nice. Once I got to about 75% through I couldn't put it down. The secrets, drama, and good characters (the pool crew) were my favorite parts of the book.
Overall, I would recommend this book to a friend. I think it's a must-read thriller for fans of the genre. Can't wait to hear others thoughts on this book once it's released in April 2024!

Thank you, NetGalley, the author and the publisher for an e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Recommended reading for everyone that enjoys a good thriller. Cass goes from the perfect life to being dumped and living in the total opposite environment. She is a handy ‘mam’ and is in a seedy residence as maintenance. Everyone here has a story which adds to the craziness. Murders, lies, loss, friendships, this story has it all! Love the characters!
Vacancy in Room 10 is a rollercoaster ride of suspense, where the line between truth and deceit blurs into a maze of uncertainty. Miss. Seraphina has crafted a masterpiece of the thriller genre, weaving a web so intricate that it kept me guessing and second-guessing every step of the way.
At the heart of this book are characters, so vividly drawn that they feel like old friends except everyone lives in a nightmare! From the determined yet vulnerable Cass, to the even more naive Anna, to the other crazies of the apartment complex lurking in the shadows, each character adds layers to the story, making it all the more relatable.
The plot is a labyrinth of twists and turns, where nothing is as it seems. Just when I thought I had it all figured out, another revelation would send me spiraling back into uncertainty. Every chapter is a puzzle piece, fitting seamlessly into a larger picture that kept me on edge, wondering if I ever truly knew what was going on. Spoiler alert, I didn't!
What sets this book apart is its ability to keep the reader engaged from start to finish. The pacing is relentless, driving the narrative forward with a sense of urgency that left me breathless. But it's not just the twists and turns that make this book a standout. It's the underlying themes of trust, betrayal, and the fragility of truth that resonate long after the final page is turned.
I really enjoyed this book, start to finish it engaged me and had me wondering what was real and what was a lie. With its relatable characters, twisty plot, and masterful execution, it's a must-read for anyone who loves a good mystery.
A somewhat madcap mystery focusing on young women scorned, misunderstood, and betrayed, - and their search for closure. Focusing mainly on two first person POV heroines, Cass and Anna, each telling their separate story, and expanding to include a troupe of big-hearted down-on-their-luck colorful ladies, whose bbq hotdogs, poolside slurps, and sisterly geniality set the tone for Cass and Anna’s exile to the Sycamores, a former motel, now rundown apartment complex, situated outside of Santa Fe, New Mexico.
“The Sycamores is where broken people live".
Cassidy Abbott - aka Cass - is a lovely, (if somewhat rough around the edges) handy-woman, thirty-something and never really fitting in to her conventional upper-class gendered life. When we meet her, Cass is now acting as caretaker for the Sycamores in exchange for free rent, after being rendered homeless by her cheating, financially successful ex.
By a twist of plot, Anna Hartley, a recent young widow, lost and broken-hearted, also finds herself at the Sycamores, living her attempt to recreate the last weeks of her husband’s life, in a desperate bid to understand what drove his eventual suicide.
As Cass and Anna’s worlds collide, the author weaves a complex and mostly compelling tale, although this reader did find the pacing uneven and the two main characters often hard to distinguish from each other. There are twists and turns and perhaps too many of them, for an overall ride that was hard to put down in spots, and less satisfying in others.
A great big thank you to Netgalley, the author and the publisher for an ARC of this book. All thoughts created are my own.
:
Cass and Anna are both at The Sycamores for different reasons, Cass has been dumped by her long term boyfriend, while Anna’s reeling from the death of her husband.
Just before he dies, he calls Anna to confess to murdering someone, Anna doesn’t believe him, but moves in to live in her late husband’s art studio. As she begins to unravel the truth of what happened in the last 6 months of her marriage, everything changes.
Cass on the other hand, has been unceremoniously replaced with someone half her age and is just looking for a place to land. But she’s not quite as kind hearted as she would leave you to believe.
Besides Cass and Anna, the Sycamores is home to an eclectic mix of misfits that are all just trying to survive.
Did Anna’s husband have a secret, does Cass know what really happened that night, what secrets are the other residents hiding?
I really enjoyed The Vacancy in Room 10, it was well written and gripping. The characters were interested and felt multi-dimensional. They all have their own bit of chaos, which is so relatable.
There were a few places where it was slow, but it picked up and I couldn’t put it down.
Thank you to Seraphina Nova Glass and NetGalley for this ARC.
I started this book last night before bed and I just finished it in less than 24 hours. I couldn’t put this one down! The storyline was perfection and so were all the twists.
Thank you, NetGalley for allowing me to read and review this one early.
Everyone who loves thriller books NEEDS to read this one! It’s a killer book, literally 🤪😉
The vacancy is room 10 is a new thriller that follows two women in difficult circumstances. Anna’s husband was just found dead in an apparent suicide and she goes to his studio at some run down apartments to find clues as to why he did it. Casa had the perfect life with a boyfriend until he cheats and kicks her out of the house. Casa comes to live at these rundown apartments as the handyman. When things start to spiral and crimes are committed, these two women find themselves in the middle of this and they have to work together to find the truth.
I enjoyed this book! It had a lot of twists and turns throughout. It kept me guessing the whole time. I kept wanting to read more to find the truth and how everything unfolded. Everything tied up nicely in the end as well. I liked the characters as well. A little misfit family is built at these apartments. Everyone is going through something but they come together and help each other.
I would recommend this book for people looking for a solid thriller! Thanks so much to netgalley and Harlequin for the arc of this book in exchange for an honest review!
Seraphina Nova Glass weaves a complex and completely intriguing thriller that I couldn't put down! I have been a fan of her work since her first novel released, and she just continues to impress.
𝗦𝘆𝗻𝗼𝗽𝘀𝗶𝘀:
Anna and Cass both find themselves at the Sycamore apartments but for very different reasons.
Unceremoniously dumped and left homeless by her cheating ex-boyfriend, Cass accepts the job of handyman /management in exchange for a free room.
After her husbands peculiar suicide, Anna takes over the studio apartment at the Sycamore, which her husband had rented for painting, to try and figure out what drove him to his death.
♡ duel perspectives
♡ amazing characterization
♡ shocking twists
♡ secrets and lies
♡ blackmail
♡ murder mystery
First! The setting of the Sycamore apartments was perfection! Crumbling, run-down motel turned apartment, with leaking pipes, stained carpets, broken AC units, and down trodden tenants, was so atmospheric for this this story.
Character Driven! The cast of characters staying at the Sycamores were the stars of the story. Believable, relatable, and down on their luck but also extremely entertaining. The pool side ladies with their big personalities and kids running wild. I found myself laughing at times despite the fact that they could all be suspects.
They were hilarious!
If you want a book that will captivate you , that is unputdownable, and you can't stop recommending it to everyone... this is it. I give it all the stars!

****thank you to netgally, Harlequin Trade Publishing, and the author for the early release. My review was voluntary.
Many thanks to the ladies of @htp_hive for my advance copy. I am always scared of hyped books BUT I should have known SNG never disappoints.
This is told in two POVs (Cass and Anna) although both women are different, I liked both very much. SNG always gives just enough background info for you to fall in love with the main characters and root for them. I truly had no idea where this was going. Everyone seemed sus to me. My favorite characters were probably Uncle Fester, Jackie/Crystal and Frankie because they were so colorful and funny!
Do we every really know someone? I'm generally not a fan of this particular troupe - marrying someone you don't know the true history of - Seraphina writes this well. I like that the husband had an art studio filled with secrets for Anna to explore. The twist with the apartment/motel manager being a spooky character is fresh. Overall, I was interested to see how this all turned up in the end.
Excellent new title from an author I have been a big fan of for quite some time. This is a very gritty tale. I would say this is Nova Glass trying her hand at true grit lit and succeeding. She does an excellent job with character development. Unless you truly fly in the highest echelons of society then you have run into a lot of the people in this book but hopefully not all because there are some seriously bad people in this one as well.
This book met all expectations when it came to keeping the reader in suspense until the end. However, the narrative tended to drag at times and seemed to be very repetitive. For being a smaller novel, I felt as if it took me a long time to get into the book.
