It’s been a while since I’ve read a book where every predictions I had was flat out WRONG. I loved every second of this book. The relatable HILARIOUS characters. Every twist and utter shock. The literal parts that made me laugh out loud. The heartfelt moments. This is my second book of 2024 and I can say that this is one that’s going to be a favorite of the month, if not the whole year. This book releases on 4/9/2024 and I’ll be telling everyone I know to get it! I am 100% a fan of Seraphina Nova Glass now!

Having recently finished “The Vacancy in Room 10" by Seraphina Nova Glass, I am happy to have had the chance for the Advanced Reader’s Edition e-copy; thank you NetGalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing!

I was SURE I had this one figured out at 57%! NOT!! Spending the first day of 2024 immersed in this twisty thriller was the perfect start to the New Year. It was fun! It was shocking! Wow!!
The quirky characters in this apartment complex, The Sycamores, were fun to get to know. Whether outside with “the pool girls” or behind closed doors, all the dark (and deadly) secrets revealed among this family of neighbors will keep this story on my list of thrillers to recommend in the year ahead.

The leading characters are Anna and Cass. Told in their POV's. Cass is a superintendent for an apartment complex called Sycamores. Anna is recently widowed, her husband is found dead in the banks of the Rio Grande. Anna sells her home ends up in the same apartment complex as Cass.

Cass and Anna are strong characters and stars of the book. There is also Jackie, Crystal and Rose with their witty banter. The book starts off strong, it was very engaging!

This is a great neighborhood thriller! Everyone knows each others business, with zero secrets.

Complex, Trust Nobody, and Engaging! 3.5 stars!

Thanks so much to NetGalley for the advanced copy! This book will be released 4/9/24.

💫Have you read a book that just hits all the marks you look for in a good read? Vacancy is just that kind of book! I loved all of the characters! The writing was on point! Told from multiple POV and best of all…. The amazing reveal at the end. I won’t be surprised if this one turns out to be my favorite thriller of the year!! It’s that good!

Thank you for the opportunity

This one surprised me.

I thought it was going to be standard domestic suspense. It ended up being darker and sadder than I expected.

Our two main characters are very different women, but I liked each of them. They’re very strong and mostly not door mats. (Mostly. They do tend to excuse the most OUTRAGEOUS behavior and take responsibility for the fact that some men can’t help but accidentally fall literally into other women’s genitals. But whatevs.)

I figured out the *who* of things pretty quickly, but not the *why* and the book definitely kept me reading.

Would read the author again.

Seraphina Nova Glass’s latest novel, “The Vacancy in Room 10,” embarks on a tantalizing narrative journey, albeit with a somewhat sluggish onset. Unlike other books of similar length, which I typically devour in a single sitting, this one demanded intermittent pauses, especially during the initial chapters. However, as the story unfolds and intensifies, it becomes increasingly engrossing.
The novel intricately weaves the lives of two women residing at a motel, each harboring distinct motivations. The alternating perspectives between these characters add a dynamic layer to the narrative, though it can initially challenge readers to keep track of names and details.
A standout feature of Glass’s writing is its vivid descriptiveness, which immerses readers in the novel’s setting. It often feels like being part of the scenes, perhaps gossiping alongside the characters by the poolside. The story is rife with clandestine snooping and deep-seated secrets, creating an atmosphere where trust is a valuable but scarce commodity.
The plot is replete with unexpected twists and shocking revelations, maintaining a grip on the reader’s curiosity throughout. For those who savor auditory experiences, the audiobook version might offer an enhanced enjoyment of this intricate narrative.
In conclusion, “The Vacancy in Room 10” is a compelling read that captivates with its suspenseful storyline and detailed character exploration. Despite a slow start, it ultimately rewards the reader with a rich and engaging experience. I heartily recommend this book upon its release for those who enjoy a thrilling blend of mystery and drama.

Tense, suspenseful, maddening!! I simultaneously wanted to both devour this book in one sitting and throw it across the room the entire time. Glass is great at making you get ANGRY. She doesn’t discriminate while building her characters, giving both protagonist and antagonist distinct, robust personalities and character-compromising flaws. The dialogue is masterful and realistic, and the narrative flowed easily, making it unputdownable. The well-executed and interwoven nature of the characters and plot brought the book to a surprising end, making this whodunnit a solid 4 stars

Thank you to netgalley and harlequin trade publishing for this arc! Wow, wow, wow! What a crazy and wild ride of a book. This book started off slower but once it picked up, it picked up! I loved how this was told from two different perspectives/POVs from Cass and Anna and how everything comes together so well. The way Seraphina can weave the story together to make the ending that shocking is amazing!

Thank you to Netgalley for the opportunity to read this for my honest review. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
As much as I wanted to enjoy this thriller it was impossible fell due to multiple errors and inconsistencies throughout: incorrect timelines, misspelled words, repetitive sentences, missing spaces, and letters, incorrect punctuation run-on words, etc.
The only reason it wasn’t a DNF was my need to review it. It reads like a draft copy that has never been edited by anyone.
The plot has potential but needs extensive editing and corrections.

Timeline and Location Examples:
There is a Keurig in the apartment when Anna moves in; several pages later she complains about having to go to Starbucks & that she’s going to have to buy a Keurig.
The party was Saturday night then Saturday morning Rosa tells Anna that Cass was arrested.
It discussed Monica, Anna and Callum (injuries to his hands) being at the pool on Sunday but Eddie was buried Sunday night. Cass and Callum didn’t even leave the burial site until dawn (Monday am).
Does Callum live on the 2nd floor or not? Inconsistent in the book.
Crystal was pregnant for the entire book & much longer than 9 months.
Cass arrested at her old home for the incident at the charity ball & later in the book it states she was arrested at the charity ball.

My first read by this author and my final book of 2023. This story was so good with plot, characters, writing, alternating chapters, and chapter length. While I did peg one major part of the story, it was a very entertaining page turner to unravel. I look forward to reading more of this author’s previous books as well as her next release.

Thank you to the author for providing me the opportunity to read this book via Netgalley that ended up being one of my top reads of 2023!

I really enjoyed this one and devoured it quickly! It centers on 2 women living at a run down motel-turned-apartment-complex: Cass is working as the superintendent after escaping an embarrassing family situation that left her with no where to go, and Anna is staying at the studio rented by her recently deceased husband to find out more about what happened to him.

All of the characters in this book were so real and I felt like I was right there with them. Most of the neighbors charmed me and I especially wanted to hang out with the “pool girls”. Both Cass and Anna were likable and believable, and the plot twists were well thought out and (for the most part) surprising. The ending was satisfying to me and I thought all the loose ends were tied up nicely.

Overall, I thought this was a really good and engaging read and I’d recommend to those who like mysteries. Thanks to Netgalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book has become a highlight of my 2023 reads, despite its publication in 2024. Every aspect captivated me—I was drawn into the incredibly engaging plot, charmed by the delightful characters, and pleasantly surprised by the unfolding mystery. The vivid portrayal of life within that rundown apartment complex made me feel like a resident, privy to every conversation and interaction—a perfect indulgence for my naturally curious nature.

Centering on two women residing in a converted, dilapidated motel turned into an apartment complex, the narrative follows a new widow and a recently heartbroken individual. Their journeys through life-altering events amidst the backdrop of nosy neighbors congregating by the pool every Friday were both compelling and relatable.

This story left me craving more—I wouldn't mind at all if there were a sequel!

I’ve heard so many great things about this book and I just HAD to read it. I was excited but nervous to start incase it wouldn’t live up to expectations. BUT it sure did!!
Holy wow! I read this book in one sitting and I could not stop reading! The story grabbed me and wouldn’t let go.
Told in two POVs-
Cass- The superintendent for the Apartment complex who is struggling after being kicked out of her home by her ex.
Anna- After receiving a nightmare phone call from her husband right before his dead, Anna moved into the sycamore apartments to try and find out what happened to her husband who had a studio there.

Filled with drama, suspense, thrills and twists, you won’t be able to put down Therese Vacancy In Room 10!

4.5⭐️I was in the mood for a thriller, so I requested this book on a whim knowing nothing about it minus some strong early ratings. After finishing, I can 100% say this is worth the read and unlike any thriller I’ve read before.

Synopsis: Cass and Anna both find themselves living at the Sycamores, a former motel turned cheap apartment complex, for different reasons. Cass was dumped and left broke and homeless, so she became the superintendent living there for free. Meanwhile Anna just lost her husband and decided to move into the unit he was using as an art studio in search of answers about his suicide. It is not before long that Cass and Anna lives begin to intersect.

Thoughts:What I loved most was how unpredictable this story was. It totally went in a different direction than I expected, and while it was full of twists, you did not have to suspend disbelief to buy into the events. The setting was unique and easy to imagine. Also, the cast of characters living at the Sycamores brought a ton of fun neighborhood drama and humor to the story. And while yes this was a thriller, the theme of found family was embedded so perfectly. Plus, a bigger cast meant more hidden secrets and lies to the point where I did not know who to trust!

Read if you like:
-Slow burn thrillers
-Dual POV
-Found family
-Motel settings

Thank you HTP for the ARC!

Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin for this ARC! This one was juicy! I usually don’t like dual perspectives like this book had but it did a great job of weaving the two storylines and characters together, especially as the story went on. I loved all of the characters and appreciated the found family feel mixed in a thriller, which you don’t see often. Highly recommend this one!

Cass was living a life of luxury with her long-time (“anti marriage”) boyfriend Reid until she found him in the arms of a 20-something cocktail waitress and lost everything. She went from high society to a handyman living in a rundown motel-turned-apartment complex called The Sycamores in exchange for a few bucks and free rent. Anna’s husband Henry was using one of the apartments at The Sycamores as his art studio after losing his teaching job and spent more time there than he did at their home. When Henry turns up dead from an apparent suicide, Anna puts their home on the market and plans to travel the world as they planned as soon as it sells. She moves into his apartment because she can’t stand to be in their house and to get into his head about what happened that led to the end of his life. There’s a lot going on at the Sycamores outside of the behind the scenes drama in these two women’s lives and it’s a wild ride.

Wow. This was so good. I’m calling it now - this will be one of THE thrillers of 2024. The whole story was good. I loved the characters and the storylines. When the twist came, I was SHOCKED. I literally gasped and my jaw dropped. I didn’t see it coming and I never once suspected the bad guy but once it was revealed it made perfect sense. Seraphina Nova Glass is now officially an auto-read author for me! 1000/10. Highly recommend!

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
