Like Cavanaugh states I am one of the ones always trying to lose weight. However, I think her claims that the pound-a-day method is sustainable is quite far-fetched. I do not think I can live on 1 meal a day which is essentially what you have with this diet. A green smoothie for breakfast and chia seed drink for dinner are not going to be doable in the long term.
It is written in a very advertorial style with plenty of links to their website to buy all the supplements and teas mentioned in the book.
Chapter 8, the exercise routine was good and seems very doable to keep up in the long term. However, doing this for just 5 minutes 3 times a week falls very short of Government guidelines on staying active.
Diet books are problematic as heck, and this one raised a few red flags for me. It seemed to jump immediately into pushing supplements with relatively little support for the benefits. I'm certainly not a medical professional or researcher, but I definitely want a better case made for why this would work, be considered safe, and be thought sustainable before I would be comfortable following this plan myself.
POUND-A-DAY RAPID WEIGHT LOSS is quick and easy guide to help with weight loss and promoting vitality. Reading other health books I can get easily overwhelmed, and with this book I appreciated how simple the text and tools are to make this method achievable and accessible for anyone. All the recipes, supplements, and resources are all incredibly inexpensive too! The five minute workouts and a one minute technique to change your mindset and lower your cortisol takes the pressure off and makes this way of weight loss easy to implement in one's life.
Thank you to BooksGoSocial and NetGalley for the digital arc in exchange for my honest review.
I'm constantly on the lookout for fresh approaches to weight loss, and this book offers some intriguing perspectives on dieting. The book presents some innovative ideas however, I'm cautious about the concept of skipping dinner and relying solely on a Chia Seed Drink replacement, as it raises concerns both for physical and mental health. Additionally, I won't be able to partake in the organic pu-erh tea, as it contains caffeine, which I consciously avoid.
Nonetheless, the book provides valuable insights and information about making mindful food choices for weight loss. I'm particularly intrigued by the personalised water intake calculation, which is a novel concept for me, and I'm eager to give it a try. This book has the potential to offer some useful guidance on the journey to a healthier lifestyle but please take it with a pinch of salt and do what's best for you.
Sound advice. I’m excited to try this diet plan. The research and results seem legitimate and it’s worth a try. It’s a simple diet plan that seems cost effective and is doable in day to day life.
I have mixed feelings about the title but I was curious to read. Some of the tips I already do as part of a healthy lifestyle but there were some new areas I felt I could explore. I was pleased to see there are some links to studies but as a diabetic tackling it with nutrition choices, who does need to lose weight, I wouldn’t follow the advice to have smoothies made up of 60% fruit. Like all books advocating ways of losing weight, readers shouldn’t follow blindly but take the time to read widely and realise that fast weight loss isn’t always the best way forward and not jump to purchase supplements recommended in books, other than that, I found it an interesting read.
3/5
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this arc.
I’m always looking for new ways to try to lose weight. I haven't started the diet yet, but it does have some interesting takes on dieting. I'm not happy with skipping dinner and only having a Chia Seed Drink replacement meal, but I am thinking of customizing the plan to better suit my personal needs which is easy to do thanks to all the customization plans in the book.
I'm not quite sure how to review Pound-a-Day Rapid Weight Loss by Madison Cavanaugh. On the one hand, I imagine it works very well because the diet is so low in calories, it would be impossible not to lose weight. But on the other hand, it feels so restrictive that I think it would be hard to stay with. For example- there is not real "dinner" just water and chia seeds. But the recipes look great and I would luv to try all of them. So I think this is the kind of book that (if you are not looking for drastic weightless, you can pick some tips to incorporate rather than follow the whole plan to the letter.
Wow, I really don't know what to say.
I thought we had left this toxic mindset of weight loss far in the past.
As a person recovering for a long lived eating disorder, I was shocked to see how much this book plays into disordered mindsets.
The quote "nothing tastes as good as skinny feels" is included in this book, I should have known it would be with a title like 'pound a day rapid weight loss' :(.
While I appreciated that they continue to let people eat and its not instructing people to skip meals, it is promoting a rather negative mindset that could potentially ruin people's relationships with food, for example the idea that eating green is the only thing good for you and labelling foods as "good" and "bad".
I am quite shocked this was allowed to be published in this day and age and would encourage people to avoid any rapid diets or schemes that this book promotes.
Pound a Day Rapid Weight Loss is a program that promises to help you lose weight quickly and easily, without sacrificing your favorite foods (most of the time). It includes a variety of tools and strategies intended to help you succeed. The title sounded a little gimmick-y to me but I was curious about the approach. There was a section and a link to a video addressing the mindset piece of weight-loss, which is worth mentioning. I don't know that this is a sustainable lifestyle since I don't see myself having all this konjac root and chia seeds on daily basis forever, but if you're looking to try a new weight loss solution, this book may be worth checking out.
This book is a gimmick and dangerous. It is fake positive reviews and empty, nothing advice. They want you to buy their supplements and advise that chia seeds can replace an entire meal. Net Galley should remove this sham, counterfeit book from this website.
Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for sharing. I read a few chapters, but ultimately was disappointed with the approach and felt it was just another weight loss scheme that will make someone money but ultimately not help those losing weight for the long term.
When I first saw this title, I had thought it might be a fad diet, but as it turned out, this gave some decent advice. There were suggestions to change one’s diet that would make it healthier in the long term. A few special food items were introduced with relevant studies quoted.
A word of caution on the Japanese konjac root: if you have hypothyroidism, do not take it.
The “tapping” method mentioned is EFT-therapy, used for dispelling negative thoughts and habits. The physical exercises demonstrated would benefit an already fit reader. For anyone with back or knee or joint pain, proceed with caution. All in all, healthy and sensible advice.
(I received a free review copy from NetGalley.)
This book was so good and it gave me some great pointers on rapid weight loss. I've struggled a long time with my weight and it takes a toll especially on my mental health.
I requested this book out of sheer curiosity.
This book makes me feel icky. It's a massive ad for supplements that you can find on their website.
The essential plan of this rapid diet is having a green smoothie in the morning, downing these specific supplements, having lunch with whatever you want (but not really whatever you want), only eat until you're 80% full, and finish your day off with tea and chia seeds. They claim chia seeds are so big in nutrients you can have those to replace a healthy meal. 🙄
This book is dangerous, in my opinion. I'm not a doctor by any means but this is not healthy and sustainable. I'd rather be bigger and KNOW I'm putting good things in my body than this.
No thank you.
Thank you to Netgalley and Think-Outside-Of-The-Box for this ARC. All opinions are mine and mine alone.
An Interesting Concept
A well-written book with lots of information and tips!
Not my usual way to lose some pounds and I am not a fan of smoothies and veggie smoothies are the main part of the plan but for anyone who likes smoothies, this method would be worth giving it a try.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own
“Pound-a-Day Rapid Weight Loss” by Madison Cavanaugh is a great diet book. It has a ton of information like smoothies, glucomannan, chia drinks, recipes, healthy foods, easy workouts, foods to avoid, and miscellaneous tips. My favorite part and what I need to try first is the recipe custom meal plan for each week to lose maximum weight. It had a lot of sources for information which were nice and made the content look more reliable than other weight loss books I’ve read. 5 out 5 stars.
In Pound-a-Day Rapid Weight Loss author Madison Cavanaugh delivers an easy to understand/follow plan for losing weight that she claims has worked well for her and others. It’s a quick read. I managed to finish it in only two sittings. The concepts are all easy to understand and sound solid enough. It’s a combination of juicing and the use of a few supplements used in a specific way. Now some may say the book is just a way to sell these supplements via the author’s own website, but there is nothing propriety about her plan and the various items she recommends are readily available from multiple sources. As for the plan, I can definitely see how many would find it appealing, what with it basically including a daily ‘cheat’ meal. As I’ve only finished reading the book and have yet to try out the plan I can’t yet comment on how effective the system is, but as with any weight loss plan you are of course encouraged to consult your doctor before starting. I’d like to thank BooksGoSocial and NetGalley for allowing me the opportunity to read and review Pound-a-Day Rapid Weight Loss .

I thought the writing was great and the methods that are listed here are simple and easy.
This was a well written guide and I can’t wait to give it a try.
I would like to thank NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for the opportunity to read this ahead of its publication date in return for my honest review.
I was very apprehensive but I'm willing to give anything a go in regards to weight loss and losing a lb a day would be fantastic.
