〝I guess a mothers love for her child really does know no bounds〞
★★★.5
ellie walks down the aisle in her full-length lace dress, beaming with happiness. as she exchanges her vows with the groom, who looks devastatingly handsome in his smart black suit, her mother hopes this time will be different… an utterly gripping psychological thriller with jaw-dropping twists.
this was a really fun read but it wasn't for me. this would be great if you like books for the plot and easy to understand thrillers. sure, I loved the family drama of it all but the characters were too superficial and naive (read stupid) for my tastes; especially since the author makes it really clear that this almost happened to the same characters just a couple years ago in the first book. like who would not be on their guard after almost getting murdered by their partner? I pretty much figured the whole thing out after the first few chapters which only made me more irritated at the character for not seeing it coming. I've read some other reviews and I understand that this is just not my genre because a lot of thriller lovers really enjoy this so take my opinion with a grain of salt unless we have similar reading tastes.
ps. if you want to read the whole series; read it in order or you'll be heavily spoiled.
thank you to netgalley and the publisher for giving me access to this arc.

This book is a sequel to "My Daughter's Boyfriend" and follows the story of Ellie and her mother Dawn. In the book, Ellie gets married to her wealthy boyfriend Kyle. However, Dawn discovers that Kyle lies to her daughter and starts investigating to keep her safe. This is similar to what happened in the previous book where Dawn had to investigate Ellie's American boyfriend.
In the story, Kyle is not a good person, but he is not as evil as Ellie's previous boyfriend. Dawn follows the clues and ends up getting involved in a scheme that has more action than the previous book. The story is predictable and the ending is revealed in the first chapter. However, the book is still an entertaining read. The author adds a new point of view from Harvey, who plans to take revenge on the women who killed his son.
Overall, the book is a quick read, and the ending is satisfactory. The epilogue makes it clear that this is the end of the book series. While it may not be a memorable book, it is still an enjoyable read.
My Daughter’s Husband

Author: Daniel Hurst
I requested a audio advanced readers copy from NetGalley and Bookouture Audio and providing my opinion voluntarily and unbiased.
Synopsis: My daughter is getting married to the man of her dreams. But will she pay for it with her life?
My beautiful daughter Ellie walks down the aisle in her full-length lace dress, beaming with happiness. As she exchanges her vows with Kyle , who looks devastatingly handsome in his smart black suit, I hope this time will be different…
As confetti settles on the shoulders of the happy couple, I reassure myself that Kyle Beaumont is a charming, successful businessman. He’s so different to her ex-boyfriend – the man who tried to hurt my Ellie.
Except, only days after the ceremony, I discover a letter that makes my heart flip when I realise what my son-in-law is hiding. Ellie’s past is about to catch up with her, and I am certain my daughter is in danger.
But I’m her mother, and I’ll stop at nothing to protect her…
My Thoughts: Hurst is becoming one of my favorite thriller authors. I will read anything by him. This sis the second book in the My Daughter’s Boyfriend series. While this is part of a series, it can be read as a standalone. I did not know this was part of a series until I already requested it, however, I never felt lost, the author did a great job at summarizing the first story within this story. Caveat: reading this book will spoil the first book. Ellie’s last boyfriend was a psychopath that almost killed her if it was not for her mother stepping in to save her. This time around, Ellie has fallen in love with a Kyle, who is vastly different than the last boyfriend. However, when Dawn (Ellie’s mother) discovers a letter, it could open up a secret that Kyle is hiding that could destroy them all. As another layer of twisty excellence, Daryl’s (the prior boyfriend) father is getting out prison and only sees revenge in his future. This psychological thriller carries all of the necessary elements of excellent thriller, secrets, lies, betrayal, twists, and did I say secrets?
This storyline takes place five years after the first story. This was narrated by multiple narrators from their perspective. I do love that we get all of the characters narrating at some point in the story. Ellie comes across as very naive, and too trusting, especially after what she went through in the first story. Dawn is the overprotective mother that will do anything to protect her child. Kyle is charming and charismatic and is able to hide secrets very easily. Then Harvey is Daryl’s (prior boyfriend) father who only sees anger and revenge for what happened to his son, even though he knows that his son was a psychopath. The characters were well developed with depth, mystery, they were compelling, intriguing, and creatively woven throughout the story. The author’s writing style was complex, multifaceted, twisty, suspenseful, and brilliant. The characters are built up (or continued being built from the first novel). The plot is delivered in twisty layers and even twisty subplots. Then the ending is FANTASTIC! I loved that the author used two villains in the plot lines, it really intensified the pace of the story and I was not able to predict the twists. Even the twists had twists.
The narrators (Tamsin Kennard, Adam Sims, and Harrie Dobby) were fantastic. They had amazing voice variation, easy going pitch, tense was spot on, and were easy to listen to. Their speed matched each other so the reader does not need to adjust the speed between narrators, which I really appreciate. The narrators really developed this characters to the next level and made it feel like you were there. They also emphasized emotion, compassion, joy, and sadness. This was a gripping, compelling, captivating psychological thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat from the very first word to the very last word. If you love Frieda McFadden or Kiersten Modglin, you will love this story. Hurst has a way of masterful storytelling that just captivates you into the story. I highly recommend this novel and ANY novel Hurst writes.
My Daughter's Husband by Daniel Hurst and narrated by Harrie Dobby, Adam Sims and Tamsin Kennard is the second book in the brilliant My Daughter's Boyfriend series and I loved it. This was a audiobook that will just have you gripped from the beginning till the end especially with great twists and turns throughout, it will just hooked. So, glad it was a audiobook as I could listen and do chores etc at the same time! lol - not saying much was done!!!

They both look so happy and I just hope this time will be different…..........
I can only wish and pray he is.
But, only a few days after the ceremony, I discover a letter that makes my heart flip when I realise what my son-in-law is hiding.
My darling Ellie’s past is about to catch up with her, and I am certain my daughter is in danger.
WoW.....This was so good I didn't want it to end.
I highly recommend this audiobook and this series. I loved it
Bug Thank you to Netgalley and especially Bookouture audio for my ARC.
This is the sequel to 'My Daughter's Boyfriend!. It picks up the story five years later. Ellie, is about to get married.
Despite time passing, Harvey remains fixated on seeking vengeance, unwilling to let go of the past.
I highly suggest reading the 'boyfriend' before diving into this story. But of course it will be totally fine and still as gripping and intense without knowing what happened in the first part.
Daniel Hurst, as always, writes more or less ordinary people into totally crazy situations reacting in even crazier ways! And that is what I love about his style!
Thank you #NetGalley #Bookouture Audio for this audiobook perfectly narrated by Harrie Dobby, Adam Sims, Tamsin Kennard
So I never read the first book in this series but I didn’t feel like that prevented me from listening to this book. I was able to catch up on anything I missed and still became extremely engaged in this story. I will admit there were moments that felt like they dragged a bit but the final fight scene and the revenge in the epilogue makes up for any dragging. Also the narrator was incredible!
I LOVED the first book in this series and did not foresee a second one but am so happy Daniel delivered us one! This one was just as exciting as the first - maybe even more so because there was such a tone of underlying suspense and tension knowing that the father was after Dawn & Ellie the entire time AND knowing that Kyle wasn't who he said he was. Coupling the two storylines could be difficult for some authors to do smoothly...but not Daniel Hurst! This was so smoothly done and exciting from beginning to end. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an
Thank you Netgalley for this ARC of My Daughter's Husband by Daniel Hurst.
This is a sequel of My Daughter's Boyfriend, a book I read in order to properly review this one and unfortunately, I didn't like either. I normally really enjoy Hurst's fast paced novels with their twists, but ugh, I could not with these. They are so obvious that they honestly felt lazy. There was so little substance, like, I could have written this kind of plot while my brain was hopped up on cold meds. In conclusion, not a fan.
This book was so bloody good.
Again I feel like Daniel Hurst never writes a bad book!
This book had everything you could want, short chapters, character development, drama, suspense, betrayal and intrigue.
This book as all of Daniel’s others always has a twist that you think you have guessed but you never truly guess what he is going to write into the story.
Highly recommend any Daniel Hurst book.
5/5 stars
When I first picked this up, I didn't realize it was a sequel. My Daughter's Boyfriend is the first in this mini series. And while you can read this book on its own, I would recommend you pick up the first book as it gives a lot of context for what's said and done in My Daughter's Husband. Both of these books are what I call Popcorn Thrillers, meaning they're very entertaining reads that are typically short and will keep you engaged.
My Daughter's Husband takes place five years after the events in My Daughter's Boyfriend. While the events are similar in nature in both books, the boyfriend and the husband are not the same. Although there is a terrifying visit from a familiar face in book two. I enjoyed seeing Ellie and her mother Dawn seemingly thriving in their new lives after tragedy. But as with all thrillers, things are not always as they seem.
Just like with My Daughter's Boyfriend, I found My Daughter's Husband to be a short, thrilling and engaging listen. I did listen to the audiobook for this and I really enjoyed the narrators. They did a great job. This book was very twisty at the end and nothing really happened the way I thought it might. I can't wait to read more by Daniel Hurst.
Thank you, Daniel Hurst, Bookouture Audio, and NetGalley for an audiobook version ARC in exchange for an honest review.
It's such a great story! I went into My Daughter's Husband without reading book one of the series. Believe me when I say I am going back to read My Daughter's Boyfriend. This sequel was that good! A mother's instinct to protect her child is unexplainable. The narration was great, and I really lost myself in it. Daniel Hurst is quickly becoming one of my new favorites!
ARC audiobook provided in exchange for an honest review.
I really loved the dual narration of this book! The male and female narrators worked perfectly together and it really helped to bring the story to life. I was fortunate to have also read the first book in this series which helps to set up this story but if you haven’t read the prior book, it still works well as a standalone. There were lots or twists and turns I didn’t see coming and I love the way it ended! If you like psychology thrillers, be sure to check out this series!
Thank you NetGalley for the audio copy in exchange for a honest review. I am loving this series. Dawn is thrilled to see her daughter Ellie get married after everything she has been through. Her ex Daryll tried to kill her and Dawn ended up killing him to save her daughter. Kyle is a successful Rich businessman. Dawn later finds out Kyle is lying about his success and follows him to find out the truth putting herself in danger. Then Daryll’s dad Harvey is released from prison and is seeking revenge for his sons death. A fast paced thrill that had me on the edge of my seat.
I feel like it was obvious that Ellie was being played and I am really shocked that no one in the story could tell. I do feel like some parts were far fetched, but overall it did keep me listening.
4.5⭐️
Like I always say, Daniel Hurst should be on everyone's go-to for a quick but entertaining thriller.
This is indeed an utterly gripping psychological thriller with jaw-dropping twists.
The twist kept on coming and coming and I was absolutely hooked!
Oh and that ending blew me away.
This is a great follow up to My Daughters Boyfriend. Though you can read this as a standalone, I highly suggest reading book #1 first.
How far will a mother go to save your child?
The Mother Daugther Duo Ellie and Dawn are back again.
Elie has turned life around and is now married to the handsome Kylie and things are good.
But when Dawn discover a letter that makes her heart flip she realises that her son-in-law is hiding something.. and he isnt who they thought he was.
Ellie’s past is about to catch up with her, and she's certain her daughter is in danger.
Bad luck or wrong choices??
Well as her mother, she'll stop at nothing to protect her…
On the other hand, Harvey from the first book, who was in prison is about to be released and is obsessed with making this mother-daughter pay for his son's death.
I Recommend this book. With Daniel Hurst you know what you're getting yourself into which is a well written story.
Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for this Audiobook.
Although I skipped the first book of the series, I can confidently say that this novel covers all the main points of its forerunner.
I have to be honest, I didn't really enjoy the novel. It just didn't capture my attention. Right from the beginning, it was clear that Ellie was being deceived. The fact that neither she nor anyone else around her could see it was amusing. And the fact that Kyle's accomplice revealed everything to Dawn, a complete stranger, was just bizarre. It doesn't make sense for a scammer to spill their entire plan to someone they just met.
I found the story of another villain from the previous novel, Harvey, to be quite fascinating. His character seeking revenge played a significant role in the novel, and I enjoyed the way the author portrayed him. The perfect ending for his character was a nice touch. Therefore, I would rate the novel two stars.
Although the writing was enjoyable, neither the plot nor the main characters held my full attention, so overall, this novel wasn't my cup of tea. However, I will still give Daniel Hurst another try in the near future.

The plot was already self explanatory. You already know what will happen.
Anyway, a mother’s love can know anything. She can feel what is wrong or not.
But the ending was not the kind of story was I hoping for .
A dad wanted for a revenge took a while , he keeps blabbing on the story yet a mother can easily know .
I feel sorry for their daughter as it was twice on her life she experienced it.
Anyway, the story was okay.
There no twisting matter.
Just a plain revenge story.
Wow - this girl really just picks absolute losers.
That's the main standout concept from this book. Just ridiculous really, even with the red flags that seems to be lurking everywhere.
The father of her previous boyfriend getting released from jail, then flying to the UK just seems like a stretch. This part of the plot could have been done without, it really gave nothing to the story and seemed unreasonable.
The mother daughter relationship seemed a bit dependant. The new "husband's" real wife seemed deranged.
I will say this book was fast paced, and I kept wondering what will go wrong next. It was a quick read, even if it seemed implausible.
This is another excellent Daniel Hurst book and my second of the author's. His psychological thrillers never fail to entertain; if you want something quick and a page-turner, he is among the best. Excellent narration, too.
I look forward to more of his work.
This is my first Daniel Hurst book. After reading all of Frieda McFaddens books, she recommended Daniel. Then this book was on NetGalley and it was just telling me to go ahead and request it. When I got approved, life was a bit busy so I was unable to start it right away. But I started it two days ago and finally finished it and wow! I absolutely love how it had plenty of different POVs and gave us plenty of detail in different views. This book was very good. I loved all the little twists in the story and I’d love to be able to read more of his books!
