Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for gifting me the audio ARC of the sequel to My Daughter's Boyfriend, by Daniel Hurst. The audio cast narration by Harrie Dobby, Adam Sims, and Tamsin Kennard was pitch perfect. 4 stars!

Years have passed since the events in My Daughter's Boyfriend, and Ellie is madly in love with Kyle. They are getting married in Turkey and mom, Dawn, couldn't be happier. Until she finds a letter that lets her believe that Kyle is lying. Dawn will once again do whatever she has to in order to protect her daughter.

While it's more enjoyable to have read the first book before this one, the author provides all the necessary background. Told from multiple POV, this is another fast-paced, tense thriller made better by the narration. Pure entertainment!

I originally didn't realise this was the second book in a series, but I think it reads well as a standalone. It had multiple POV which kept the story going at a fast pace. I enjoyed the story and the twists. I really liked seeing the relationship between the characters, especially the mother/daughter relationship.

Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture Audio for allowing me to listen to this audiobook.

Fast paced and shocking. This book is the second in the series, but works well alone. This is a story of two newlyweds with an interesting backstory, and then the surprises begin. It was quite an entertaining read, and was a well read audiobook.

Addicting! This was such a great thriller. Super fast paced! Loved it! I didn’t realize this was the 2nd book in the series but I don’t think you need to read them in order. There was enough of a recap! 4 stars!!

This book had me hooked from the beginning to the very last sentence. Full of suspense and unpredictable twists and turns. A must read for anyone who likes thrillers.

This is a gripping psychological thriller, easy to read and a page turner.

This is the second book in the series, but the first chapter gives you an over if the first book.

Ellie is getting married to a wonderful man, happy that they are in turkey for the wedding so the sun will shine. Nothing can make this day any better. Kyle is the lucky guy and is happy at the wedding, but seems distracted after it. Her mother is hoping this has been a good decision, but she’ll protect her no matter what.

This was a brilliant read, gets into the action quickly and will make you want to keep reading. Brilliant writing.

The narrators were both excellent and very easy to follow.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for a copy.

Thank you for Netgalley and Daniel Hurst for letting me have an ARC of this audiobook.

This is the first book I've picked up from Daniel Hurst and really enjoyed it. It wasn't until I started listening and realised that Its actually the 2nd book ( My daughters boyfriend ) so really enjoyed the little catch up at the beginning.

The Narrators Harrie Bobby, Adam Sims and Yamsin Kennard made the characters pop out of the audiobook. Even though I love audiobooks which one narrator. This book definitely benefitted with the 3 narrators as the narrative is from 3 perspectives. All 3 of them had lovely voices and read with an even pace.

The pace of the book itself was good. A good few twists and turns with a great pay off. I will look forward to reading some of Daniel's other books

Gripping from the jump! I loved how Hurst continued this story and with jaw dropping twist!

I received the audiobook format from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review and I truly LOVED the narration. The voices fit perfectly together for the narrative of the book. My family could not be quiet long enough for me to devour this one faster.

Ellie truly seems to have a bad picker but this twisted surprise will have you gripping the edge of your seat until the very last page.

I truly did not expect so much out of a second to this story but Daniel, strikes again!!

Be sure to snag this one up 11/4/23!!!

Watching her daughter, Ellie, marry her fiancée, Kyle, in a quiet ceremony in Turkey gives Dawn some hope that she can finally put the past behind her and be happy. After everything they went through with Ellie's last boyfriend, they definitely could use the peace of mind. Unfortunately, the honeymoon is about to be over.

Once they've returned to England, Dawn starts noticing that a lot of what Kyle says doesn't add up. Given the ordeal she and Ellie went through with her ex, Dawn can't help but be suspicious. She's being paranoid, right? Ellie can't possibly have found two extremely disloyal people.... could she? Dawn tries desperately to find out for sure before it's too late. As she's already proven, there's nothing she won't do for her daughter.

I absolutely loved the first book in this series, and I thought this installment did a great job of getting the basic story line (Ellie's ex-boyfriend tried to kill her, but Dawn intervened and killed him first, and the ex-boyfriend's Dad ended up in jail for his part in all of it) across enough for this book to function as a standalone without doing an extensive recap that would bore people who read the first one. That's a hard line to walk and this book did it beautifully.

Decent story that I think I would have preferred in a physical rather than audiobook. I think perhaps it was the narration that let this book down for me. Especially the male character. However the story itself was good and stressful with a great twist at the end

Very fun cat and mouse thriller. Mother and daughter duo up against Harvey who just can’t let what happened to his son go. I enjoyed the sub plot with Ellie and Kyle. I thought it was a fun twist. There were some lines in the story that were quite repetitive “They don’t know I’m coming to kill them.” “I’ll be surprising them because they don’t know I’m coming for them” that were a bit much and I don’t know how I felt about the epilogue— can’t put my finger on it BUT def kept my attention and a great short read!

Harvey is out of jail, and he is pissed. His son has been killed, and yet Ellie and her mom have continued to go with their lives without giving Daryll a second thought.
Harvey has done time for his son. His son killed Aubrey, and his dad took the fall for it. But then Daryll went to visit Ellie and would have killed her too, except Ellie's mom was able to kill him first
5 years later, Ellie has met the man of her dreams and has married him
Is he the man of her dreams, or is she just unlucky in love and will always be in love with the wrong one
Dawn, her mom, of course, has a sickening intuition about this guy. Is she right or just being a nosy mom and never minding her business and letting her daughter live her life for once

This was definitely a binge read. I like that it was quick and full of action. I didn't read the first book, but there was enough background to not be lost therefore this was good as a standalone read as well; however, I'm intrigued enough to want to read the first book now. I did find that right away the husband seemed suspicious and I wondered why Ellie and Dawn, especially after their past experience seemed to so easily just ignore the red flags. As smart as Dawn seems, that part threw me off a bit. Liked the different perspectives and seeing what each character was going through and thinking. Good read. Not sure it's worth 4 stars but giving it for the quick pace that kept me intrigued from beginning to end.

Thank you Bookouture Audio and NetGalley for the arc.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review. If you liked My Daughter’s Boyfriend by Daniel Hurst, then you will no doubt enjoy this fast paced thriller as well. Book #2 reunites Dawn, Ellie and Harvey in another thriller about Ellie’s poor choices in men. The setting is Dawn and Ellie are attending Ellie’s wedding to her husband Kyle in Turkey and shortly after they find out that Harvey has been paroled from jail and no doubt will be seeking revenge on the 2 ladies. As the 2 ladies are learning horrible things about the new member of their family, they are also trying to stay alert and on the lookout for Harvey as he tries to enter back into their lives. I enjoyed this book as it was fast paced and the characters were quick to figure things out instead of drawing it out and the reader getting frustrated. The wow moment was at the end when I didn’t realize how smart and ruthless our little Ellie could be…..well done girl…Enjoy!!!

Daniel Hurst is becoming an auto-read/request author for me. This is my 4th book by him and it did not disappoint. All of his books are solid with the ability to draw you in right away and take you on a wild ride until the final chapter. My Daughter's Husband was excellently executed. I enjoyed the narration and loved that it was the same narrators as the first book. This is the 2nd book in a series, but can be read as a stand alone. I actually read this and then went back to read the first book. This is a fast paced, easy read, that focuses on all of the twists and action. This one will have you questioning everyone as Murphys law unfolds on each page. A truly thrilling, suspenseful, satisfying, and tense story that is sure to delight readers. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4 stars!

Oh my God! I really love Daniel Hurst's books!

This was even better than book one, I'm already looking forward to the next installment (there has to be one, right?!)
As always the narrators did an excellent job, really brought the book to life and I'm so grateful to Bookouture Audio, via Netgalley for gifting me an advance copy.

This is a fast paced thriller with a lot going on! I wasn’t aware this was the second book in the installments but it reads well as a stand alone. I’m pretty interested in going back and reading the first installment. What I liked most about this book was how straight forward and in your face the plot was. You learn quickly (if you didn’t read the first book) that there is a killer on the lerk and who it is, but it also has that mystery element that makes you question where the new husband’s motives lie. I won’t spoil to much but I’ll just say Kyle is a dirt bag of a character!

Another great read/listen from Daniel Hurst, quite possibly the hardest working author in the history of ever! While this book would absolutely work as a standalone, it is a follow-up to the highly gripping 'My Daughter's Boyfriend'. Who can forget Dawn and Ellie, characters from the aforementioned title who made it out by the skin of their teeth! They are back in this latest novel and once again Ellie's romantic choices are a recipe for years of therapy!!

The book opens with us enjoying the Turkish riviera, as Ellie marries her gorgeous new man, Kyle. Ellie's mum, Dawn is, of course, close at hand to share in the celebration. The bond between Ellie and Dawn is super strong, and cemented by events documented in the first title in this series. Of course if all lived happily ever after this would be a very short book, suffice to say it is another rollercoaster ride for this mother and daughter! It is well worth delving into for a grilling vicarious adventure.

As an audiobook this works superbly well, the female narration is on point, and kudos to the super creepy male voice of Harvey!

This book absolutely works as a standalone, it is just lucky for us readers that there is a prequel we can feast on!

To Mr Hurst, I sincerely hope that if there is a further book in this series is forthcoming, serious money is dedicated to hours of therapy for any of our heroines who make it out of this one alive!!

My thanks to NetGalley, author and publisher for the opportunity to review this book in exchange for an advance copy.

What a story! From start to finish, I was locked in. This is the first audio book that has been able to keep my attention. I listened to this book a lot quicker than I expected but I just couldn’t stop. Great storyline and I loved that each chapter went back and forth between each character’s perspective, as well as having a different person narrate for each character. The tempo of the reading was great as well. There were several twists and turns I didn’t see coming all the way until the end of the epilogue. If you’re looking for a quick read with a simple but good story, this is for you.

Series notes:
A good idea to read My Daughter's Boyfriend first, so you can be familiar with Ellie and Dawn and the dumb choices they made. They're not too much better in this installment.

Ellie & Dawn are back 5 years later. Ellie is set to marry Kyle, the perfect guy, or is he?

I liked that we get Harvey's POV. He's being released from the slammer for his part in what went down in the previous book. And now he's out for revenge. But who will pay the price?

Another fast paced read that'll make you want to say ugh, do you really want to do that?

Narration notes:
They all did a fine job. Happy they went with an American male narrator, since he is American after all.
