Very exciting throughout!
Bridie Duggan is getting married; the nuptials have been planned to the letter and the guests are heading to an exclusive hotel on an island only accessible by local ferry. Among their number are DI MacGregor known to all as Mac, and Rina Martin, retired actress known for her sleuthing skills which is handy as after the bridal couple have left on honeymoon, the first dead body turns up quickly followed by two more . . .
How have I missed this series? I really enjoyed this one, the ninth in series; a great cast of characters and so much happening. It hooked me from the very beginning and I was riveted until the very last word. Never quite sure where it was headed next, I was suspicious of everyone but admit to feeling just a little let down by the ending. Still, a good read and a series I would like to catch up on. 4.5*.
My thanks to the publisher for my copy via NetGalley; this is - as always = my honest, original and unbiased review.
Three paramedics are drawn into the mystery of a bizarre spree unfolding in a quiet island town. Devastated by the loss of his son, Liam Price, must hold it together whilst leading his team against a killer who finds new and twisted ways to prevent them for saving the lives of their victims. But one serious mistake puts them and everyone they love in grave danger.
It's only fairly recently that I discovered the series featuring amateur sleuth, Rina Martin. I have all of the books in the series on my ever increasing 'to be read' mountain, although much to my shame I have only managed to read a couple of them. When I was invited to take part in the blog tour for 'Murder At The Wedding' by Jane Adams, I knew that it would be the ideal opportunity to reunite with Rina and at the same time remind myself of how good the series is. I really enjoyed reading 'Murder At The Wedding' but more about that in a bit.
'Murder At The Wedding' is the ninth book in the series featuring Rina Martin and what an addition to the series it is. I was drawn into the story from the start and I found it rather difficult to put the book to one side for any length of time. I was intrigued by the characters and by how they interacted with each other. I found that the more of the story I read, the more intrigued I became and the quicker the pages seemed to turn. I would pick the book up only intending to read a chapter or two but I would become so wrapped up in the story and in the lives of the different characters that I would still be sat there reading several chapters and an hour or so later. I reached the end of 'Murder At The Wedding' quicker than I had anticipated. I found 'Murder At The Wedding' to be a gripping, cosy mystery which certainly kept me guessing.
'Murder At The Wedding' is very well written but then I have come to expect nothing less from Jane Adams. Jane has an easy going writing style that is easy to get used to and easy to get along with. Jane certainly knows how to grab the reader's attention and draw them into what proves to be one heck of a story. For me, this was a slower paced type of read, which suited the story that Jane tells. Jane describes her characters so vividly and realistically that they seem just as real as you and I. I love the way in which Jane makes the reader feel as though they are part of the story and at the heart of the action.
Overall I did enjoy reading 'Murder At The Wedding' and I would recommend it to other readers. I will certainly be reading more of Jane's work in the future. The score on the Ginger Book Geek board is a very well deserved 4* out of 5*.
Rina Martin #9
Meet Rina Martin, a retired actress with a taste for team gambling and crime solving. She played a TV sleuth for years, but now she has to do it for real.
Rina's friend Bridie Duggan is tying the knot! At a majestic country house on a private island. Rina and thirteen other guests row out for the ceremony. One of them has murder in mind.
You know when characters are on an island that there's going to be some kind of storm that prevents them from leaving and someone ends up dead. It all becomes a bit predictable. The pace is on the slow side. The ending of the book did feel a bit rushed. There's also quite a few characters to remember, and they all have criminal backgrounds. There are some really good twists and red herrings.
I would like to thank #NetGalley #JoffeBooks and the author #JaneAdams for my ARC of #MurderAtTheWedding in exchange for an honest review.
A very entertaining reading. Although I never met the characters previously, it didn' interfere with the story, which is good. It felt like I was in the island with all of them, getting soaked wet and hoping to find the guilty part. Enjoyed it very much.
Meet Rina Martin, a retired actress whose most famous role was a TV sleuth. Rina’s friend Bridie Duggan is getting married at a majestic country house on a private island. Rina and thirteen other guests row out for the ceremony. The next day, Rina’s out exploring the island when she hears a blood-curdling scream. She races down the twisty steps to shore only to find a dead body! A storm is rolling in on Bridie’s perfect day. Now there’s no way on or off the island.
This is the ninth book in the series & I feel it would be best appreciated if earlier books had been read, also a list of characters would have helped as there are quite a few to get your head round & I found that after a couple of chapters I went back to the start & started again. I really like Rina & thoroughly enjoyed the book especially as the tension built throughout. The characters are well portrayed & have depth & the pace is good. There are, of course, twists & turns before the denouement
My review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
I love a good cozy mystery, and this was at the top of my list. It had lots of twists and turns and kept you guessing the whole time. If you are looking for a book you can't put down, grabbed this one. Thanks, Netgalley for the ARC, yet another book I will be recommending to friends and picking up a copy for myself.
This is the ninth book in the series and it was every bit as entertaining to read as the first.
An interesting murder mystery that has just about everything going on, along with an engaging cast of characters.
Whats not to enjoy?
Looking forward to many more featuring Rina and her friends.
Trapped With A Killer….
The ninth outing in the Rina Martin series of mysteries finds Rina a wedding guest at a beautiful yet isolated and island bound country house hotel. This will, obviously, not go according to plan and it’s not long before a body is discovered. With a storm on the horizon, the island hotel is soon cut off and the guests find themselves trapped with a killer. Another entertaining and enjoyable instalment in the series with a likeable protagonist, a deftly drawn supporting cast, a well imagined setting and a solid mystery at its heart.
This was another good mystery with some complex twists and turns and the odd red herring However you do need to have read the other books to follow who's who I feel and although a good read it's not in my top 5 of this series. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I found it both intriguing and alarming when I learnt that the reader is going to experience a wedding like no other, when an ex criminal marries a police officer and there are guests from both sides. I could just picture the fabulous wedding venue: a large house on an island with hidden tunnels.
Packed with death and lots of drama and a will written with intent to cause conflict, this is a five star read with non stop action.
I really didn’t enjoy this book. I found it somehow both confusing and boring at the same time, so I was disappointed by this story.
Okay, this is book nine in the series. I am a in order reader. Having said that, I enjoyed the book, but felt lost at times. I’ll decide go back and get caught up and read this one again. I’m sure I’ll love it then.

This was fine? It doesn't add anything to the genre and I kind of feel like I've read it before. But it was still vaguely entertaining.

The pace was moderate and steady with some complex twists and an exceptional red herring or three. The characters are well developed and the suspense builds. A fine read.
I requested and received an EARC from Joffe Books via NetGalley.
This book encapsulated suspense, intrigue, action, and the classic elements of murder and mystery, topped off with surprising twists. The plot was engaging and seamlessly woven. While it may not make my top favorite list, I'd still advocate for giving it a read. My gratitude to NetGalley and the publisher for introducing me to this story!
I love this series and the characters that feature in it. This was another excellent addition with great plotting and some interesting minor characters. I also enjoyed the ‘cut off’ setting and the pressure that put on all the characters.
Thank you NetGalley and Joffe Books for the eARC.
This book was not for me, unfortunately; it was very confusing in the beginning, so many names and people! Even after the first murder I still couldn't get into it and rushed through to the end. Pity, I generally enjoy this author's books.
DNF - I read about 4 or 5 chapters and have absolutely no clue what is going or who any of the characters are. I imagine you need to read the prior books in order to have a clue. #MurderattheWedding #NetGalley
This book had the usual, it had suspense, intrigue, action, murder, mystery, revenge, a good who done it and some crazy twists and turns! The storyline was interesting and flowed nicely! I will recommend reading this book as it was worth reading but it wasn't one of my all time favorite but still worth reading! Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!
