Michael Kough is a genius and an idiot at the same time. He has developed a cure for the worlds deadly viruses but he has a gambling addiction, so he constantly takes risks and gets himself and those he loves in danger.

Enjoyed this well written and well narrated novel (I listened to the audiobook).lots of twists and turns and Michael gets into many mad situations, which usually means someone will die. Enjoy.

This book feels very choppy to me; I struggle to get into a flow with it, partly because it speeds up and moves so quickly that I am left confused and hitting “rewind”.

Initially I was intrigued by the storyline and the Covid pandemic thankfully hasn’t ruined a good virus book for me. 😂

The MC is an uncuddly half asshole that you shouldn’t like but still do despite yourself (he’s funny) and that was a welcomed cold splash of water… but IDK, really having trouble engaging/paying attention/following along… or caring.

Plus despite a lot of fast moving action (barely explained or flushed out) in the first 10% we are now puttering about.

I think people who like typical spy genre novels would like this. Thanks netgalley for my ALC.

Wild Card by Barry Colman, an audiobook narrated by Nicholas Camm in an action thriller. This book is packed with unexpected actions and constant movement.
When I listened to this book I thought how accurate this could be in real life, I literally believe these things happen! It's mad how much power the government and politicians have! It is mad how much power holds people with money. It's mad how a person's life means nothing if they can profit from that.

Michael Kough is an Australian virologist who accidentally discovers a cure for the cold and a vaccine to neutralize deadly viruses. What is supposed to be his pride and fame becomes his death ticket as everyone with power or many want him!

There is a crazy amount of actions, activities, and on-the-edge moments. Probably too many for me. And it was a little bit too hard to connect with the narrator. I missed more voice expressions, changes, and intonations. That would make this audiobook so much better.

If you are into action books, this is the book for you!

Thank you, NetGalley and The Liberty Publishing Company for this advance copy!

This book took me a bit to understand due to the main character calling his brain big brain and having conversations with himself. Once I figured that out the book was good. It's something I can see happening in real life and I'm sure it has happened. Listening to all of his trials after making a life saving vaccine is very interesting. You are constantly waiting for his luck to run out. The book kept me entertained and I was always trying to figure out what the main characters next move is going to be. I recommend it if you are looking for an action packed book.
