This is a cute, rhyming depiction of a pumpkin's life cycle. The illustrations are fine. The ending has facts about pumpkins, as well as a recipe for seeds, a pumpkin life cycle diagram, and details about how plants rot.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC.

My lil was entranced by this lyrical poem on the lifecycle of a pumpkin. A colorful and fun way to learn.
This is an absolutely beautifully illustrated book. We review the life cycle of pumpkins every Fall, and this would be a good addition to our homeschool curriculum. We all loved turning the pages to see what the pumpkin would turn into next! However, the poetry throughout the book was hard for my younger children to follow along with at times and did not hold their attention. My second grader really liked all the additional facts and the recipe included at the end.
Thank you SOURCEBOOKS Kids and NetGalley for this ARC to review. All opinions are my own.
Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC! I really enjoyed this accessible and cute book! I appreciated the illustrations and the book's description of the pumpkin life cycle, which was poetic but still appropriate for younger readers.
I had trouble with this book because I was trying to figure out if it was trying to be a poem. There were no sources to help parents with looking further into the cycle of a seed but the recipe in the back was a very nice touch.
The Pumpkin Seed's Secret is a sweet book about the full life cycle of a pumpkin. It poetically explains the stages of a pumpkin's growth, but also explains what happens after the pumpkin matures. It's educational in its subject matter, but it feels like your reading a beautiful nature poem. The poetry and stunning artwork make a very relaxing read. Perfect for a crisp fall day. One thing to note, for people who do not celebrate Halloween, the holiday is mentioned in the story. Great read!
I thought this book was really cute! My child liked it and so did I. I would highly recommend it for parents! We will get it once it’s released!
A nicely illustrated picture book that won’t keep children attention. The poem is long and wordy. Nothing new about how a pumpkin grows through its life cycle. Doesn’t pull you in. Very one note.
I loved the colors in this book. This is one aI plan to buy for my classroom and my own children. It’s perfect for teaching about the life cycle of a pumpkin. I loved the rhyming and the great info in the back matter.
This cute book is about a pumpkin’s life cycle. The book is poetic and thorough about pumpkins while still being easy to understand for all ages. I love this as an alternative to the spookier Halloween stories and will enjoy reading this aloud to my children.
Thank you NetGalley and Sourcebooks for this advanced copy. All opinions are my own.
This book was cute, but my son didn’t stay engaged with the story. The illustrations are fun, but the text felt a bit stilted. I did enjoy seeing the progression of the pumpkin’s growth from seed to rotting. Overall, a cute story, just not engaging enough for my son.
I can't say I love the rhyme scheme, which was awkward and did not live up to its potential (but there are some gems, such as "a slow peekaboo"). Probably would have worked best as a picture book rather than nonfiction with charts and graphs about the life cycle of a pumpkin. Sadly, no sources!
