Reading children’s books as an adult is always so magical. Little Orange Pumpkin, is not only beautifully illustrated, but also holds a lovely story. This spooky story teaches kids to be brave & that you’re not always alone.
Thank you for the ARC!
A great children's picture book with colorful artwork throughout! Thank you to Netgalley, the author and the publisher for a chance to read and review this book in exchange for an honest review.
This book would be a fun gift. It includes the excitement of trick or treating, rules to stay safe. I appreciated that the kid threw a fit and the parents actually parented! Then they go on a long adventure and actually remember the rules. IT is a LONG story, but it is cute.
This is such a cute Halloween book. The illustrations are beautiful and so detailed. I loved the adventurous feel to the story but didn’t necessarily like the message that rules can be broken without consequences. Little pumpkin was supposed to be in time out but she went on an adventure instead. I did like the message that a parents love is unconditional and doing something “bad” does not make a child less loveable. I’m not sure what age group this is directed to, but I did feel that their were some words that were a little advanced even for young grade school age kids…reproachful, dreary, ghastly…to name a few. Overall, a cute Halloween story!
Even little pumpkins need to stay safe on Halloween! Through scary mansions and Goblin Gazebos, little pumpkin troops alone on Halloween. Or is he really alone? Can that friendly monster, really be Daddy and is that candy- making witch, Mommy?
Fun way to teach little ones the Trick or Treating rules of safety! Good addition to anyone’s Halloween collection!
“I LOVE it! That was a great book”- Lisa age 6

This was such a fun & cute Halloween story told from the POV of a little pumpkin. Mommy and Daddy are ready to take her out for some Halloween fun, but she’s a big girl, she wants to go alone and throws a lil tantrum. After being put in timeout she discovers a door in her corner that wasn’t there before and goes off on an adventure alone. She soon discovers being alone isn’t as fun as she thought it would be. An adorable story told with a timeless lesson. The colorful artwork and prose is very engaging for little ones. Certainly one my little wants to add to her collection.
I received an ARC of this children's book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Magnificent in so many ways. The illustrations are amazing and compliment the story beautifully. The talent and skill of both the writer and illustrator is the reason as an adult I would purchase this book to use as a coffee table book any time, doesn't have to be Halloween.
The story is absolutely delightful. The family dynamic is respectful. There are lessons to be gingerly explained to a youngster while enjoying the time reading and marveling over the pictures.
I was saddened to see the publication date is August 2024, I was already counting how many I wanted for Easter baskets. This is absolutely going on my gift list. I wholly recommend this.
A sweet Halloween story about Little Pumpkin who learns the power of a parent's love and the importance of rules.
I think my students will really enjoy Little Pumpkin's adventures and there are great vocabulary words in this for my first graders!
Little Orange Pumpkin is a picture book about a pumpkin-child who wants to be independent on Halloween, and explore without her parents. But when she discovers a crack in the wall to a Halloween world, she learns the rules are there for a reason. It’s a book with a lesson and the Halloween world tour plays out like a dream world. The illustrations are sweet and colourful and the highlight of the book for me. I would suggest this for ages 4 to 7, or any child who wants a longer, wordier picture book.
Thank you, Sourcebooks Kids, for this ARC.
I absolutely loved Little Orange Pumpkin! As an autumn enthusiast, the charming tale captivated my heart. Though I'm not a child, I'm eager to share this delightful Halloween story with my nieces and nephews. The message about the importance of family resonates beautifully. 🍂🎃

Loved this adorable picture book that follows a little pumpkin who wants to go trick or treating on their own and ends up going on a thrilling adventure full of monsters and fun. It was emotional and delightful. I think kids will love it on Halloween!
This was a really cute book that is perfect for young readers and their parents especially during the Halloween season!
The illustrations were really fun as well as this concept for a children’s book and I think it emphasizes the importance of sticking together on Halloween.
Thank you to netgalley for providing this read!
Little Orange Pumpkin will be a wonderful Halloween tale for years to come! Love all the different Halloween characters and their character illustrations. Orange Pumpkin learns a good lesson that home is safe and maybe she is not ready to venture out!
Great children’s book complete with lessons on patience, independence and respect. My four year old sat through the entire story interested with what came next and also thoroughly enjoyed the illustrations . Little Orange pumpkin is a perfect way to teach your child to be excited for a Holiday or fun event while still understanding their are rules and the reason behind them. Will certainly be purchasing a copy upon release!

It's Halloween, and for one little orange pumpkin, it's her favorite night of the year. While she wants to trick or treat, her parents, with their three essential rules, tell her no. She becomes upset and is said to go into her quiet corner, but falls into a bright light and enters a Halloween-like town. From goblins to witches, it's a dream come true for Little Pumpkin, but does she ever venture back home?
It's an absolutely adorable picture book read. The Little Orange Pumpkin is a delight to read, showing readers the fun of Halloween. From ghost paintings to a frightful vampire and his bats, this little pumpkin is having the night of her young life.
What an adorable Halloween-themed book for children! This cute story delves into the idea of overcoming fears with such a fun delivery. I loved the illustrations too!
At first I thought it was going to be too long to keep kid’s attention. 42 pages for a children picture book is a long books. It turned into a sweetly magical story of a little orange pumpkin. Sometimes we want to grow up faster than we should and this story shows kids it’s okay to stay small for a bit longer. There’s no hurry to grow up. The illustrations are lovely and realistic.
The Little Orange Pumpkin
Little Orange Pumpkin loves Halloween! Her parents are ready to go trick-or-treating with her:There are only three rules
- Remember to say 'please' and 'thank you'!
- No eating candy until Mommy and Daddy say it's okay!
- Stay close to us!
Little Orange Pumpkin is perfectly fine with these rules...until she hears the last one:Stay close to us!
Little Orange Pumpkin wants to go trick-or-treating on her own, but her parents think she's too young. She kicks up a fuss, throws a tantrum, because
she could explore the spookiest night of the year all by herself! But when she reaches a world full of monsters, she realizes that having family by your
side isn't such a bad thing!
This was such a cute and heartwarming tale, and I thoroughly enjoyed it! It teaches us that while independence is great, you will always have your family
by your side, and you can count on them! My favourite part was probably the illustrations , because they were so bright and colourful, but I also really ,
really loved the story and the plot! Little Orange Pumpkin is also such a relatable character, so plus points for that ! I mean, every little kid can find
themseleves in her, and every middle schooler/ adult will remember with nostalgia of such a time!
5/5 stars :)
