Short and to the point, this is a nice book for a beginner trying to learn how to get better at phone photography. Some of the advice is targeted specifically towards phone cameras, while some is a bit more on the side of artistic advice, and could be applied to any kind of camera. Don't expect to find exceptionally rare information in there if you're already an expert, but if you're a novice (like my partner, who has a hard time understanding how to setup his camera so the subject is clear, in focus, and well-lit), you should definitely check it out !

Unfortunately, this book was only okay. It had some good principles to implement, but many of the pieces of technical advice for android did not apply to my Google Pixel. I also found it frustrating that the technical phone advice was mixed in with the artistic advice without apparent method. There was also a section of the book devoted to teaching you how to put funny filters on your selfies.

In my opinion, this book would have been better if it had been divided into separate sections for technical and artistic advice, with the balance being more in favor of the artistic. The detailed instructions for adjusting your phone's settings are both easily Google-able and obviously don't apply to every phone in the exact same way (I think this guy was an iPhone user). In addition, phones change so often the artistic advice would be of more use for longer.

A really interesting and insightful book. I've definitely learnt to love my mobile camera and get more use out of it, seeing a new way of taking the right photo and not just aimlessly clicking. A nice quick read too. Now to get out and take some more photos!
