This book was a fascinating and enjoyable read. It had a gripping, well-written, and informative style. The author created believable and sympathetic characters, vividly described the setting, and maintained the tension. The book also dealt with some intriguing themes, such as identity, family, and justice. The story was fast-moving and full of surprises, keeping me interested until the end. The only thing that I did not like was the ending, which seemed hurried and disappointing. I wished there was more explanation and satisfaction for the main characters. I would suggest this book to anyone who enjoys thrillers, mysteries, and dramas. It was a captivating and enjoyable read.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review. She starts to open her eyes and is blinded by the bright lights of a hospital room. Where is she? What happened? Most of all, who is this man standing at the foot of her bed telling her that he is Freddie, her husband? If that doesn't make you want to dive into this thriller from Hayley Smith then I don't know what will. I really enjoyed this book and the storyline. Yes, it was a little predictable at times but finding out how it all came together and why, was well done. I definitely would recommend this one to my Mystery/Thriller fans. The characters were pretty good too, I didn't feel like any of them grated on my nerves so that is always a bonus too. Enjoy!!!!

ARC audiobook provided in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed the narration on this book! The single narrator worked out great since the story was mainly told from two different female point of views. The book had me intrigued from the first moment but I found some aspects of the story to be very predictable. I won’t give anything away. Other parts I didn’t see coming at all and loved how it had me thinking back to see how things really happened. If you like psychological thrillers and mysteries, you should definitely check this book out!

This book begins with Becca waking up from a coma, in a hospital with amnesia after a car accident. Her husband Freddie has been by her side in the hospital waiting for her to get better.

Becca comes home and is reintroduced to her life that she cannot remember. At first everything seems perfect, but deep down she thinks something may not be right.

This psychological thriller is full of twists and turns and kept me guessing throughout the book. I had a few guesses as to what I thought was happening, but I was still surprised at the end!

I look forward to reading more from this author in the future!

Candida Gubbins did an excellent job narrating this book with two female main characters. Her enunciation was great and it was easy to distinguish between the two leading ladies.

3.5 stars.

A woman woke up in hospital without her memory. Her husband Freddie had been the model husband, caring for her while she was in a comma and waiting for her to wake up since her accident. All she knew was that she had never seen him before. When she went ‘home’ with him, everything felt strange and unrecognisable. At least at first. Could she trust Freddie? Freddie’s love felt so real, and she felt the same way. So maybe it was just her trauma that made her paranoid?

I flew through this book. The pacing was so good, I couldn’t stop listening to the audiobook. The narration was really top notch and made me feel everything the protagonist felt.

Yes, it was a bit far-fetched in places, but the overall story was still believable enough. The character motivations were clear and the entire package was nicely suspenseful and action-packed. I really enjoyed it. A perfect book for your holiday trip!

Hayley Smith's second novel is also the second one I've read by her. She has a unique writing style that favors the unreliable narrator, creating a feeling of being trapped or that the world is closing in around you, which works perfectly in a domestic suspense novel. This particular novel embodies the adage "what goes around comes around," as it portrays karma in action and everyone getting what they deserve.

The story revolves around Becka, who wakes up from an accident with no memory. Her husband takes her home, and everything seems normal until her memories start coming back. The story then starts again with Magdalena, followed by Toby. While this is the third story I've read in a row that tells the same story from varying perspectives, this one doesn't fall into the trap of being overly repetitive, but it still feels like a bit too much. Toby's point of view doesn't contribute much to the plot, and though it sheds some perspective, it could have been omitted.

The writing is good, with plenty of twists and turns, and the narrator does a fantastic job of bringing each POV to life, giving them a unique spin that distinguishes them from the others. While I did see most of the twists coming, the journey was still enjoyable. If you like domestic suspense novels with unreliable characters, gaslighting, and a sense of isolation, I recommend giving this one a read.

I have to admit I am hooked on stories about people who lose their memories! This is what happens to Becka who, after an accident, can't even remember her name at first.
Even more, she even does not recognize her own husband, Freddie.
Such a Loving Couple will keep you guessing! Especially if you, like me, love the amnesia theme in stories!!
Candida Gubbins narrated this story in a super gripping way that I enjoyed a lot

Thank you #NetGalley #Bookouture Audio for this advanced audiobook

If you are a fan of an intriguing amnesia trope, you will devour Such a Loving Couple. Becka wakes after surviving a tragedy with no recollection of who she is and how she got there. Gradually bits and pieces of her fractured memory come together bringing more questions and uncertainty. What is true of her current reality? This thriller is gripping, suspenseful and entertaining. The narration added a layer of intensity and mystery. I am looking forward to reading more thrillers by Hayley Smith. Thank you, NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for my audiobook.

All I can say is…..Just wow. This book was full of twists and turns. Such a great book! Loved the storyline and all of the twist!

To begin with I had no idea what was going on but I started to draw my own conclusions. It was a bit of a slow start but picked up the pace around halfway. It was told from different characters points of view in the past and present. It was a well thought out storyline but a little predictable but there were some surprise twists thankfully. I didn’t find the characters overly likeable with some extremely irritating. The narration was engaging and kept my attention. Unfortunately this one was only ok and I’m not sure it’s a listen that I’ll remember in a week or so.

Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture Audio for the opportunity to read and review #SuchALovingCouple

Another corking psychological thriller from an author who has a niche for manufacturing romantic relationships that are far from what they seem!

This novel features a woman who wakes up in hospital with amnesia, being utterly unable to recall her past. Eventually she remembers her name is Becca, but otherwise her life story to date remains elusive. She learns that she is happily married to the utterly devoted Freddie. Once Becca gets home she begins to question their life together however, - why are all her clothes brand spanking new? Who is the man in the leather jacket she recognises in town?, and why does Freddie shut down when she mentions him? These and many other questions come up for Becca as she tries to reclaim her identity.

This is a fantastic novel! Told through various character perspectives, all becomes clear as the truth is uncovered, providing shocks galore along the way!

My thanks to NetGalley, author and publisher for the opportunity to review this book in exchange for an advance copy.

Following the journey of Bekah, who is suffering from amnesia after an accident. Waking up with her husband, Freddy, by her side. Shortly after she returns home, snippets of her memory start coming back and is her life as perfect as Freddy is telling her?

As told in 3 different POVs, "Such a loving couple" is a fast paced, thriller that I thoroughly enjoyed listening to.

Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for this early audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

First of all, this is my first time hearing about the author. After sitting a bit longer on my experience with the book I’ve decided to lower my rating to 2 or 2.5 stars because even though it started a bit interesting, I felt like the story had way too much going on and things got tangled really quick so much (at least for me) that I had to go read some reviews in hopes there would be spoilers so that I could understand what went on.

Apart from having too much going on, I didn’t connect with the characters at all except maybe Becca at the beginning and (someone’s) daughter.

The writing didn’t really left me a big impression enough to check out Smith’s other works.

Wow. Just wow. This book was full of twists and turns and that uneasy feeling when you know something is wrong. I spent the whole time trying to understand what was happening and make sense of the facts that I had. This is my favorite kind of mystery where it is edging on horror and event he people you assumer are victims are also villains in there own way

I requested this book after seeing rave reviews. This author was new to me, and I definitely enjoyed the story. The audio was well executed. The characters were well portrayed with lots of expression that added to the read. The beginning was slow to start, but the story picked up. The multiple point of views were a tad confusing at times, but eventually it all came together. This story has a ton of suspense, drama, lies, secrets, and jealousy. If you enjoy dramatic and domestic thrillers centered around amnesia as a trope then this book is for you.

Really enjoyed this domestic thriller. Fabulous narration, great characters and amazing ending. I’d highly recommend this.

This is my second Hayley Smith book and for the second time, I loved her book!

The premise of this book plays on the sinister aspect that anyone can claim you following a bout of amnesia if no one is caring to look for you. Once Becka is out of the hospital, things start to piece together for her and she realizes her life is not the way it was before the accident. The only aspect for me that I didn’t particularly care for was her husbands story line. His apathy for his wife and child were distasteful, but the end of the book was karmic perfection.

It’s a bit of a slow start, but in my opinion, this book packs a little punch, definitely recommend!

Thank you NetGalley and bookouture for a copy of this audiobook!

Well this was a wild ride! What a wonderfully crafted domestic thriller.

Becka wakes up in hospital after an accident, with significant head trauma resulting in amnesia. When her husband comes in she doesn’t recognise him or much of her previous life.

As she recovers at home, she starts to rebuild things and realises that not is all as it seems.

Full of everything I love in a thriller - lies, deception, betrayal, murder plots, wicked twist and turns leading towards a shocking ending.

The audio was brilliantly narrated, I couldn’t stop listening!

This was my first book by Smith and I can’t wait to read more from them.

Many thanks to Bookouture audio and NetGalley for an ALC

My first book by the author and I considered it a pretty decent read. We wake up with Becca in the hospital with amnesia. However, the husband she can’t remember is by her side helping her through the recovery. As she catches snippets of things she recognizes and many she doesn’t her confidence in the life she’s in necessarily grow, instead she gets more clues on what could be different.

While some of the twists in this story were predictable I didn’t mind. The execution was pretty decent and I did enjoy Becca’s character. Overall a good pick!

What's more terrifying than waking up in a hospital with amnesia? Maybe going home with your supposed husband whom you don't know? Who is this guy? Is he really your husband? But what if he really isn't?

Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture Audio for the ALC copy for review considerations. "Such a Loving Couple" by Hayley Smith audiobook became widely available November 8th, 2023. All opinions expressed below are mine alone.

"Such a Loving Couple" by Hayley Smith starts by introducing us to a woman named Becca, who was in a car when the River Kent started to flood. She wakes up in the hospital with no recollection of what happened or who she is. Days later, the hospital nursing staff introduces Becca to Freddy, her supposed husband, whom she also has no recollection of. When Becca is released from the hospital and goes home with Freddy, her memories start to return. However, when Becca questions Freddy about these new memories, he seems to be holding out on the whole truth.

Get ready for a twisty ride of a psychological thriller that is totally unputdownable! According to the publisher, it is perfect for fans of The Housemaid, The Family Upstairs, and The Serial Killer's Wife. As some of my audience may already know, I'm a huge fan of Freida McFadden, and I can back up the fact that if you enjoyed The Housemaid, you will certainly enjoy this bombshell.

Let's now chat about the audiobook narrator Candida Gubbins. Candida's voice is seriously as sweet as apple pie! She did an excellent job narrating this audiobook, and she definitely used that sweet voice to fool me with narrating the characters. She really did add value to the book.

One thing I personally enjoy while reading a book is short chapters. Although, when listening to an audiobook, it doesn't matter as much to me. Regardless, this book has short chapters, is fast-paced, unique and will keep you guessing.
