Oh I do love a good domestic suspense thriller and this book certainly ticked all the boxes for me. It’s one suspenseful read filled to the brim with twists and turns. Right from the start I was intrigued by the story and knew I would read this in one sitting. The characters were all really well formed and developed, something I love in a book is good character development and this book certainly had that. This is a book I highly recommend and I guarantee once you start it you won’t want to put it down . I was delighted to be able to listen to the audio version of this book and the narrator was excellent. She really brought this story to life.
Loved this book! Multiple points of view so gives you a good picture of the characters and develops the plot well. This a fast paced read and kept me hooked from the start! Lots of twists and turns that kept me guessing through out the book. Would definitely recommend and will be reading more from this author.

HAPPY PUBLICATION DAY HAYLEY!!!
This is the first book I have read by this author.
This novel consists of 63 chapters and written over 3 parts. The chapters are medium in length so easy to read 'just one more chapter' before bed...OK, I know yeah right, but still just in case!
This book is fantastically written with vivid descriptions that absolutely grip the readers attention and puts them right in the middle of it all feeling the hair raise on your arms and feeling the sweat run down your back.
WHAT did I just read!!!! WOW!!! I mean seriously Wow!! I was NOT expecting that lot fair play!!! This has GOT to start with a MASSIVE WELL DONE HAYLEY!!! Ooopps sorry, yes, needed a minute to get over that but I've just left you hanging there... Sorry.... Let me tell you more...
Firstly let's start off with the writing style, etc!! This book is an extremely well written book by this amazing author and narrated by the fantastic Gandida which had me hook line and sinker!!! It is so smoothly and fantastically written with vivid and evocative descriptions I completely forgot I was even reading a book a few times. The blurb, title and cover really fit the storyline. Hayley's words and Gandida's narrative work perfectly together to create an absolutely explosive and addictive storyline that had me hooked from the gripping first chapter to the absolutely shocking ending!!!
As you can tell I LOVED the storyline. I found it to be realistic, very fast paced and I read it in just several hours!!! I loved the setting, characters, atmosphere and just well... Everything!!! Twists after shocks after turns!!! Arggghhh... Its so hard to NOT say anything about them as it will give too much away and spoil it for future readers but it definitely left me speechless over and over!!! I have read hundreds of psychological books and it gets harder and harder to keep my interest and to shock me but these fantastic authors managed it hook, line and sinker Just brilliant fair play and all links in and wraps up perfectly!!! During the book Hayley and Gandid build the tension and suspense perfectly and lead the readers up to some extremely explosive twists that I would never have seen coming. I cannot remember the last time I flew through a book so quickly. Each and every time I went to put it down to do something my fingers were itching to pick it back up as I just HAD to know what happened next!! Hayley's evocative writing skills ensure you are sucked deep into the storyline seeing everything that is happening and feeling the tension, stress and suspense that each of the main characters are going through. My heart was in my throat throughout reading this fast paced, gripping and gritty psychological thriller! I just cannot wait to get stuck into more books by this absolutely epic author and I have added all her previous book 'The Perfect Girlfriend' to my wish list already and look forward to what she come out with next!! It is ram packed with family, lies, twists, drama ,heartbreak, twists, tension, stress, suspense and everything you could ask for in a psychological thriller. I can't say more than that as I don't want to spoil it for future readers so if you want to know you'll have to grab yourself a copy!! You won't regret it!!
This is one of the few books that I have listened 100% on Audiobook. If I listen to a book on audiobook I usually also read the physical book between but for the second time I listened to the whole book and I was impressed! I must say a HUGE congratulations to the narrator Gandida who did a great job bringing this story to life. I would listen to it in the car and while walking at any opportunity and Gandida did a fantastic job on both male and female characters voices!!! I'm not only looking forward to reading more books by Hayley but also to listening to more books narrated by Gandida!
Just like with the storyline the characters come to life with Hayley's fantastic and evocative writing skills and Gandida's fantastic and realistic narrative skills. They are well rounded, well filled out, realistic and strong making them all the more believable. They were also all very complex and the further I got into the book and the more I got to know them it felt like I was discovering more layers the more I read. My heart absolutely went out to Becka and Charlotte who went through so much between them. I couldn't abide Toby who was just an absolute bell of ends!!!! Gandida did a fantastic job narrating different voices for them and between that and Hayley giving them unique and individual personalities they all came to life. Regardless whether I loved or hated them I was invested in them all and they all created this fantastic and nail biting page turner. Hayley and Gandida really have done an amazing job constructing an addictive and explosive psychological thriller with fantastic and varied characters that you just won't be able to put down!!
Congratulations Hayley on an an absolutely explosive success!!! This is the exact reason that I would like to welcome you to my favourite author club!! Here's to many more successes 🥂!!!
Clear your schedules before picking this up as you will not be able to put it down!!!
Make sure you read to the very end of the book to read the prologue and first chapter of Hayley's 'The Ex Perfect Girlfriend' which promises to be just as addictive and explosive as this one.
Overall an absolutely page turning, addictive, gripping and explosive must read that will keep you addicted from the very start to the fantastic ending!!!
Overall a suspense and action packed drama filled with twists you won't see coming!

A gripping novel that I didn't want to put down!
Becka had recently woken up in the hospital, her mind a blank slate after days in a coma. Even her own name slipped through her fingers like smoke. But in her confusion, there was Freddie, her loving husband, who never left her side during her time at the hospital. Yet, as she gazed into his face, she couldn't recall a single moment of their shared life. But he must be her husband, right? He presented the hospital with legal documents and photographs, including their wedding picture.
However, after returning home, Becka started to detect subtle differences that didn't quite fit into her forgotten world. Then, she caught Freddie in a web of lies. He even evaded her probing questions. Doubt overcame her as she pondered the unthinkable: had she made a colossal mistake by trusting this man, this stranger, who claimed to be her husband?
This book had me hooked! The author skillfully builds suspense, leaving me eagerly turning the pages. Although, the ending was a bit rushed and ended too conveniently. I would still highly recommend it to those who love psychological thrillers.
*** Thank you to NetGalley, Hayley Smith, and Bookouture Audio for graciously sending me the audiobook to review. As always, all thoughts are my own.***
Fun, twisty thriller they was a pretty quick easy listen!!
Enjoyed the three part novel told from Becca, Magdalena and Toby perspectives mainly. Becca has been in an accident and lost all her memory, Freddy her loving doting husband is at her bedside constantly and very involved in her recovery but she can tell he is hiding something. Magdalena has a history with Becca and Freddy, unfolds very well throughout the story. Won’t say much about Toby without giving away spoilers, he’s in the last part of the book. Definitely enjoyed! Narration was great! Easy to understand and matched characters well.
Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for my advanced audio copy in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.
Freddie is the epitome of the devoted husband--searching all over the countryside for his wife when she is swept into the river due to unexpected flooding. He has the documents to prove that they are married. The beloved wife is Becka and she has a beautiful home waiting for her. How fortunate she is, right? As the days go by there are so many red flags. Becka is like the proverbial frog in the pot. What secrets is Freddie keeping from her? What about these dreams she is having that hint of other people who are close to her, but not in her new life? I quickly devoured this new thriller in just two days combining audio and digital. What really happened to Becka on the rainy night? So many surprises and quite a complicated plot that keeps the mind on alert for clues. Definitely planning to add Hayley Smith's debut title to my TBR. It sounds like quite the page turner as well.
Thank you to Bookouture for for both an audio and digital review in exchange for an honest review. Happy publication day tomorrow -- November 8!
Incredible! Utterly incredible.
This is such a gripping story, so much so it just grabs you, gives you a shake and then it tightens its grip!
As the tale unravels, it gets more twisted and terrifying so you just cannot stop reading.
I loved it, the Characters, the twists and the shocking finale… yet still the shocking revelations continue.
I just cannot recommend this book highly enough.
Thank you so much for providing me with so much chilling entertainment.
Well written and hugely entertaining.
FIVE STARS.
This was a thriller for sure, but I'm just not sure it did it for me. It's a domestic thriller that starts with our narrator awakening from an accident with no memories. We are introduced to Becca's husband, Freddy, and they seem to have the picture perfect marriage but as she starts to remember more, the pieces start to unravel. I do love a good story centered on amnesia and you could literally feel the anxiety and questions about who she is, from our main character, Becca. Part 1 is entirely focused on Becca, but Part 2 and Part 3 add in a few more characters perspectives. I enjoyed the book, it had a good setting, the writing style was fantastic, but I just feel like there were so many parts that were unbelievable and I was yelling at the audiobook to just call the police! I rated up for 3.5 stars.
I do have to say that I was captivated by Candida Gubbins and her narration of Such a Loving Couple, she definitely created a suspenseful atmosphere.
Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture Audio and Hayley Smith for my advanced audiobook of Such a Loving Couple.
Publication date for Such a Loving Couple by Hayley Smith is 08 November 2023.
A thrilling ride from beginning to end. If you’re looking for a story that’ll keep you guessing, this is the one.
4⭐
Genre ~ domestic thriller
Publication date ~ November 8, 2023
Page Count ~ 345 (63 chapters)
Audio length ~ 10 hours 2 minutes
Narrator ~ Candida Gubbins
POV ~ 1st & 3rd
Featuring ~ 3 part story, amnesia, infidelity, secrets, lies
You can tell something is fishy right from the get go when Becka wakes up with amnesia and there's man by her bed that says he's her husband. Freddie has photographic proof so it must be true.
I do enjoy a good amnesia story and I could just feel how she was trying to piece her life together. Later on we get some chapters told by Magdalena & Toby, but I'm not going to tell you who they are, you'll have just to read it yourself to see.
This wouldn't be a domestic thriller if it didn't have infidelity, betrayal, secrets and lies. There were definitely some edge of the seat suspenseful moments that kept me fully engaged. Some twists a bit obvious and a couple that took me by surprise. Overall, I enjoyed my first experience with this author and I'll for sure read her work again.
Narration notes:
Candida did a great job of distinguishing her voices. She didn't try to be a man for Toby's chapters, which was fine since they were in the 3rd.
Becca has awakened in the hospital from a coma. (Or at least that's what she thinks her name is) she can't seem to remember anything. A brain injury from a drowning incident
Freddie is there waiting on her when she awakes. He is her husband and is ready to take her home. She can't remember him either. Nor does anything feel right inside the home that Freddie has taken her to that they apparently shared together before the accident
Becca still hasn't gotten her memory back. Even after talking to a neighbor, she just doesn't believe this is where she belongs
After a terrible accident Becca can't remember anything from the past and although her loving husband Freddie is there to help her through she can't help but feel like she is missing something and doesn't feel like she is quite living her life.
After the tragic death of his wife, Toby is finally able to more his mistress into the family home and look forward to the future.
Charlotte wants nothing more than to see her mom again.
Wow! What a intertwined and twisted plot! Definitely could not stop listening to this book! The narrator did a great job as she switcher perspectives and always left me waiting for the next chapter to start..
This is a definite must read or listen to for thrill seekers alike. Especially for those that like the extra twist right at the end!
This book brought you into the story from the very beginning. I liked how it focused for the first part of the book on Becca's single point of view before adding in the other points of view as more was revealed.
I found there was a bit of a disconnect for me from the story and the description on the back of the book. Specifically about the blue eyed little girl. First, I feel like there was a missed opportunity by mentioning the girl on the back cover. That would have been a really good twist to discover in the story, because you don't see Becca having those flash backs to the little girl until almost halfway through the book.
While I was entertained and enjoyed how the story unfolded, I felt like there were some holes in the story and that the first 2/3 of the book were quite a slow burn.
Ultimately, I give it 3 stars.
Becka wakes up in a hospital bed, with no memory of what happened or her name. Her husband takes her home to a place where there were signs that things might not be as they seem. This was a fast-paced audiobook, where the narrator did a fantastic job. The storyline was easy to follow. Not many of the characters were likable, besides the MC, but that made it that much more interesting. The twists and turns were fantastic, and I kept wanting more as I read on. I loved the last twist of the book. Multiple POVs were used in this book and the timeline was not linear and was told in 3 parts. This was a great domestic psychological thriller they kept me on my toes and was an entertaining read.
A love triangle, amnesia, evil plans, this novel has it all! I listened to the audiobook and enjoyed the narrator's voice. The store was compelling and kept me waiting to find out what happened next. I was no expecting the twist, nor the ending. I listened at every chance I got so that I could find out which way the story would go. Definitely recommend!
The first thought after listening to the beginning of this book was that it reminded me of a Netflix movie with Brenda Song. So of course, Brenda is all I pictured throughout listening!
I will say, though this trope has been done before, this one was super unique! I wasn’t expecting it to go in this direction. The story line was great, and loved the little twist at the end.
The narrator was good, however I did have to speed the book up to 1.75x because she was a bit slower with pauses. However, this speed was perfect to understand and not be drawn out.
All in all, this was an entertaining listen and I would recommend.
Such a Loving Couple will keep you guessing! This is my first Hayley Smith thriller and I'd love to check out more of Ms. Smith's work in the future.
After an accident, Becka suffers memory loss from a traumatic head injury. She's lucky to have a loving and caring husband, Freddie who she doesn't remember by her side.
I had FOMO after seeing friends' rave reviews, I enjoyed this quick psych thriller and wish I loved it. Sadly, I guessed the big reveals although not in minor detail so there weren't any big surprises for me.
Such a Loving Couple is still a very good multi-layered psychological thriller with a terrific performance by Candida Gubbins. This is a multi POV and she's fantastic, especially as Becka as listeners can sense the urgency and danger in her tone. 3.5⭐
Thank you Bookouture Audio and Netgalley for an ALC.
Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for this audio ARC. This book was really good, Although I hated the character Magdilena. She was really annoying and despicable but eventually it's revealed that Freddy is too. This was an interesting thriller for sure but I was confused up until the halfway point but this book had my attention from the start since it starts with Becca having amnesia and we don't really know what happens until later. The narrator for this was really great, as you listened you could differentiate between the characters since it's told from several POV's. Really great book solid 4 stars.
What a page turner this one turned out to be. The twists are so violent it’s like travelling on a rollercoaster.
The story revolves around Becca, who has been in an accident and lost her memory. All she remembers is her name. She has no memory of the husband who comes to claim her at the hospital nor of her life. The story gets darker and darker until it hits an explosive end. Great book!
