This was a really interesting thriller. While I will say I saw the twists coming it was still a really engrossing ride. I hadn’t read Hayley Smith before but I will definitely be checking out more of her books in the future. I listened to the audiobook and I thought the narrator did a great job bringing the main character Bekah to life (the other characters were also well done, but hers was about half the book and just spot on). It was a really slow burn in the beginning and it was also like in a horror movie where the protagonist won’t look behind them where the killer stands with the knife and you yell at the tv? I spent the first half of the book shouting at Bekah “Don’t trust this guy, please remember your past!” It was fun. Bekah was in an accident involving water and when she wakes up she initially remembers nothing. Eventually she remembers her name but nothing else before the accident comes to her. Luckily for her there is a man who has been at the hospital non-stop and the hospital staff tells her that’s her husband. Freddy takes her home but doesn’t really push for her to remember much except the early days of their relationships when they met in school. The more of Bekah’s hazy memories she does recover the more she realizes that Freddy hasn’t told her the truth about everything.

Well, that was a rush! Twists, turns and enough misdirection to keep you as confused as Becca from day one. You'll be so keen to find out what happens next, that you'll be ratcheting up the listening speed!

When Becca wakes up in hospital after a horrible accident, she can barely even remember her own name. She doesn't really know what happened or what her life used to be like. The hospital says her memory might return, especially if her husband helps her. She cannot remember ever seeing her husband Freddy, but he shows her photos of them together and the hospital verifies that he is indeed her spouse. He takes her home and he's the most doting and loving husband anyone could ever imagine. But none of the new clothes he bought for her seem to fit, and her neighbor claimes there'd been a different woman living in the house not long before. Things don't add up the longer Becca keeps looking ...
Such A Loving Couple was a very fun thriller! Obviously between us as the readers who deliberately picked up a thriller knowing there's something weird going on and Becca noticing, a bit of time passes - it could have been shorter in my opinion, but I understand what the author wanted to do with letting Becca (and us) slip into a comfortable relationship with Freddy. I liked the writing, the characterisations and how the pieces puzzled together, but I strongly disliked the ending and how many things were resolved. Overall, I did have a good time and would pick up another book by the author. The narrator did a splendid job as well!

I know I am not the only one to say this, but WOW! what a twisty and crazy wild book. So Becca, wakes up after being in a coma for sometime, and her husband is by her side, and, of course, her memories are going to come back, due to the fact that she lost them all, but then Becca is starting to feel a little bit different, like if the life with her husband is HER life. Then she ends up finding out, that there was another woman somehow involved and there is also a young woman coming around trying to ask for her. LISTEN!!!! This book to one to read, the surprised kept coming.

Thank you NetGalley, and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this ARC.

My Rating: 3 ⭐️⭐️⭐️

A solid read, just a bit slow getting started. She lost her memory and got parts back as time passed, surprising herself at every turn. It gets to be a bit much.

Such a Loving Couple totally confused me And I never quite figured out how everyone was connected. Maybe a print book would have been better than audio.

My rating is a 3.7, but I’m rounding it up to a 4.

I first want to mention my experience with the audiobook. I think the voice actor, Candida Gubbins, did an outstanding job. Every character had a distinct enough voice that I knew which POV I was listening to. Candida’s voice acting was top tier, and I definitely believe this contributed to my overall enjoyment of the book.

In regards to the story, I think it was a great “filler thriller.” Something that is enjoyable as your reading or listening to, but material you can put down and come back to.

The plot was similar to many amnesia type thrillers in certain aspects, but it did have a refreshing take on it. Due to the fact that I’ve read so many thrillers I think some surprise elements didn’t have the desired affect on me.

I definitely think the author, Hailey Smith, did a fantastic job in giving life to her characters. The characters at times felt very human to me, but there were certain scenes that I felt were very exaggerated. Either way, I definitely had a great time listening and trying to figure out how everything connected.

I think that if you’re new to thrillers or don’t read thriller books often, this is a great book to pick up.

Well, this was a fun and suspenseful rollercoaster ride of a thriller. Told from three different points of view and two different timelines, it takes it a minute for you to realize what all is happening. But then the secrets are brought out to the light and the twists start to unravel, and this story will hook you until the very last page. The narration was excellent! Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture Audio and the author for the ALC of this audiobook in exchange for my honest opinion.

Such A Loving Couple
Hayley Smith
Becka wakes up in a hospital attached to tubes and has no memory. She has no idea who she is or what her life was like before the accident. A man called Freddie claims to be her husband. He is eager to take her home when she is released from the hospital. Home is stunning with a marble state of the art kitchen and a beautiful garden. Freddie seems to be overprotective of her, but Becka wants to remember who she was and what life was like. She has flashes of water and a car.
There is a neighbor across the street that watches the house constantly. Becka goes to see her and discovers she used to bake delicious cakes. When Becka tries to bake a cake, it doesn’t come out very well. As flashes of her memory come back something doesn’t seem to add up. Becka’s dreams are vivid what do they mean? Who are the people in her dreams? Who she is? What really happened?
This tale is told from three points of view and at different points in time. There are three individual stories that come together at the end. I enjoy Becka’s tale. It was interesting seeing things through the eyes of an amnesic. There are plenty of twists and turns to keep the reader guessing. The ending of this tale ties up all the loose ends.
The audiobook is narrated by Candia Gubbins, Kudos MS Gubbins. She did an outstanding job.

Such a Loving Couple is a heart stopping psychological thriller! I became emotionally invested in these characters.

Imagine waking up in the hospital with absolutely NO memory. In fact, you don’t even know who you are. Yet your loving husband is there to take care of you, so it’s all going to be okay, right?

Shocking revelations and twisty curve balls take you on a rollercoaster ride!

The audio was done so well with this.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for this advanced audiobook in return for my honest opinion.

I was very excited to receive Haley Smith's new release. Her debut novel The Perfect Girlfriend was a fantastic thriller, so I had high expectations and she didn't disappoint.
The plot centers around a woman suffering from amnesia, after a horrible incident. Now I know most of you are not fans of the amnesia trope, but in my opinion, I think the author did this one justice. She knows how to draw her readers in, with character driven storyline filled with suspense, obsession, lies and deceit.

It's divided up into three parts, 3 points of view from three characters and it is interesting to read how they all come together and overlap in some quite shocking ways, leaving you wondering who if any of them can you trust.

Over all I enjoyed the story. It was faced paced, and although a little predictable, still an engaging read.

Another CRAZY ride!! Psychological thriller with twist after twist after twist. But, the good news is, I think my heart rate has finally returned to normal. 😮

We open up with Becca, the main character, in a car accident/incident. There is yelling. There is water, lots of water… There is screaming and clawing. And then there is silence…

And then, Becca opens her eyes to bright lights, a nurse, and a man by her bed…but she has no idea who he is. But even worse, she has no idea who SHE is!

And so the journey begins…

Told thru multiple POV’s, and multiple timelines, we learn the truths about Rebecca, Freddie, Mags and Toby…and of course, Charlotte!

Terrific character building. Plausible storylines. And amazing coverups! I even liked the dislikable character for a good part of the book! 😬

But the last third or so of the book…well, the s*it hit the fan as all the little ‘twists’ starting falling into place, or falling apart. And the results, in the end, jaw dropping!!

Thanks to #NetGalley and #BookoutureAudio for an ARC of the audiobook which releases on November 8th.

Such A Loving Couple by Hayley Smith
Narrated by Candida Gubbins

Imagine coming to semi awareness in a strange place. Actually everything is strange, the sounds, the glimpses, words...not being able to understand words or even remember words. Tiny flashes of memory. Then slowly being able to say words, slowly being able to remember the names of things. There is a handsome man by your bed...who is he? The audiobook narration does a really good job of putting a voice to the confusion, the utter helplessness of not knowing anything.

Becka has been in an accident and she is slowly recovering in the hospital. This man is her husband but she doesn't remember him. His name is Freddie and she's going home with him. Home is a very nice house and Freddie obviously loves her madly. Yet things don't seem to match up, what is he hiding, what is he not telling her, why does "home" seem too confining?

We see the story from three POVs, starting with Becka and then introducing the POVs of two other people. As the story goes on, we begin to get a much fuller picture of the past and how we have gotten to the present. I'm glad the story started with Becka because her confusion seemed so real and fits in so well with my own confusion. We were able to be confused together. People I thought I might like fool me, people I thought I didn't like might...well, never mind. Who can Becka trust, can she even trust herself?

Thank you to Bookouture Audio and NetGalley for this ARC.

This one was such a twisty one that I could not figure out what was happening before the big reveal.

Becca wakes up with no memory from an accident she had. Her husband is there but she does not recognize him but can feel that he is in fact her husband after a few of her memories come back. As her memory returns more and more, she realizes that something must have happened before her accident that she is trying to avoid.

As the story goes on, we learn more and more secrets from the couple and more about their life before the accident!

The ending is fast pace and the final events are so shocking!

This book was twisted! The twists of Becca’s life after her accident was crazy. I loved how there were multiple perspectives in this book and how those perspectives added to the twists and turns in the book. I figured Freddie was not Becca’s husband from the beginning, but all the transpired was off the hook crazy! This was a great thriller.

Well, well , bloody well.

I have recently read a backlist from this author called the Perfect Girlfriend and really enjoyed it, so when I saw the author had another release I had to jump on it. Then of course I read the plot and goodness me I knew I had to request.

This was a twisty, tense filled thriller which had me hooked from the first chapter - it was fantastic and has cemented this author as an auto buy or listen from now on.

Loved it and will recommend to all

Another amnesia thriller where our heroine doesn't remember anything that's happened to her. She just knows Freddie, her husband, has been by her bedside the whole time she's been in hospital. As she gets home, she starts to remember little things prompting her to question a few things Freddie has told her. Is everything he's telling her the truth?

The memory loss trope seems to be a common one in thrillers and at times, I do feel the storyline can get repetitive. I am pleased to say that this book was different. I really enjoyed the twistedness of it and found myself gasping in certain parts of the story. The audiobook was really well done and kept me entertained. I look forward to reading more by this author.

SUPERB!

Now *that* is how you write a psychological thriller.

I devoured this book and immediately want to re-listen. Terrific pace, kept me on my toes, not the same-ol-same-ol, thoughtfully crafted and well executed.

Very much looking forward to more books by this author. Highly recommend for fans of domestic psychological thrillers!

Thanks netgalley! You made my day and night with this ARC ALC!

I am so happy that The Perfect Girlfriend wasn't a once off. Hayley Smith delivers even more with her second novel. I have to say, I found this one to be even better than the first!
Such a Loving Couple is a gripping,  fast-paced,  psychological thriller.
Becka wakes up in the hospital after a car accident, resulting in hypoxic brain injury and amnesia. She recalls nothing about her previous life. She leaves the hospital with her loving husband (whom she does not remember) and tries to piece her life back together. As her memories start surfacing, she begins to question their perfect relationship.
There was this constant feeling of dread in the pit of my stomach as I read this book. I felt uneasy, and anytime a psychological thriller does that, it has hit the mark! The twists were great and the ending... unexpected!

The narrator of this audiobook was excellent, which can either make or break a book. Having read Hayley Smith's debut novel I didn't know what to expect and was thrilled by this. I could not have guessed the ending, the book was gripping from the beginning. I couldn't stop listening to it. Well done Hayley, I'm looking forward to next one. Five stars from me, definitely recommend it. Thank you to Net Galley, Bookoture and Hayley Smith for an advanced copy of the audiobook
