A Bedtime Story by L.C. Moon was SO GOOD and a very dark Beauty and the Beast Retelling. My first erotica novel but most most certainly not my last. It was dark and twisted and a deep look into the dark side of humanity, love, and lust.

There was a ton of tension between the 2 MC’s and it just kept building and building and building and honestly it was so good I enjoyed it almost more than the rest of the story.

Laura was extremely timid and I wasn’t sure I liked her at first, but the more we learned about her the more I liked her and understood why she was the way she was. I am a sucker for characters with trauma and mental health struggles, it is just so relatable and really draws you into the story.

Kayne was sexy and devilish and twisted and scary but also man was he a great Dom and MC. He had just the right mix of serious scary Dom and caring guy-who-is-falling-for-her. He did not want to be caring and sensitive, but Laura’s innocent nature unwittingly drew it out of him.

My favorite part of this book is that it has an unhappy ending. It was so refreshing to read a dark and twisted story, and then for there to be a dark and twisted ending. I love that Laura turned malicious, and this sounds horrible but I liked that Kayne died. I liked Kayne as a character, but I liked that his and Laura’s relationship did not end happily. It was really good and fit the novel compared to a random happy ending twist.

Overall I really liked A Bedtime Story by L.C. Moon! It is not for everyone, and also not for the fainthearted. I am not everyone nor am I fainthearted and I LOVED it.

After Laura Spencer accepts a ride home from Kayne Malkin, her life will never be the same. Kayne only planned on abducting her and delivering her to mafia individual who proceeds to torture her for information on her brother’s location. For some reason, Kayne finds he wants to save her and takes her back to his mansion where he intends to get the information through other means.

When Laura gets to his home, she finds a friendly housekeeper, unfriendly security personnel, and no one else. But there is a strange relationship developing between Laura and Kayne, as they draw towards each other and away from each other. It was fascinating to watch, in the beginning.

I loved the wonderful library that Laura discovers on her tour of the house, but she is warned that while she has total freedom to explore the main floor, she is forbidden from the upstairs and the basement. Of course, she breaks the rules and is punished, but that leads to a greater understanding between the two of them. The story is very painful to read, they seemed like star crossed lovers. I could not put the book down, as I kept wondering what would happen next. The ending was a total shock, and I just can’t say anymore.

Thanks to NetGalley for providing an ARC of this book; this is my honest review.

The cover and synopsis drew me in but weren't enough to keep me invested as I read this.

In a story like this, characters need to be multi-faceted to hold my attention, and these characters had no layers or depths. The writing style was one I found didn't align with my own reading preferences.

Thank you to BookBaby and NetGalley for the DRC

This was an amazing read! I was not expecting all of the twists that this book takes. It took me on a wild roller coaster of emotions; especially towards the end of the book! I loved how we get to see Kayne and Laura grow through the book! I cannot wait for Part 2!

The pacing is well-balanced, allowing for a gradual build-up of tension and anticipation while keeping the attention of young readers engaged.

One of the highlights of "Beauty Meets the Beast" is its lovable characters. Beauty is portrayed as a strong and independent young girl who possesses a kind heart and unwavering determination. The Beast, too, is given depth and complexity, allowing readers to empathize with his struggles and witness his transformation. The supporting characters, such as the talking household objects and the enchantress, add a delightful touch of whimsy to the story.

The colorful and expressive artwork enhances the storytelling experience, capturing the essence of each scene and evoking a sense of wonder. Young readers will be captivated by the visual appeal of the book, making it an ideal choice for bedtime reading.

While "Beauty Meets the Beast" is a charming tale, there are a few minor areas that could be improved upon. The pacing occasionally feels rushed, particularly in the resolution of certain plot points. Additionally, some readers may have preferred a bit more exploration of the Beast's backstory and the enchantress's role in the tale.

Overall, "Beauty Meets the Beast" is a delightful bedtime story that offers a fresh perspective on a beloved classic. LC Moon's imaginative storytelling and enchanting illustrations make for an engaging and magical reading experience.

"Pretty women who unfortunately got caught in their world were often used to various ends. Just like in the days of old, the victors claimed the spoils of war." - A Bedtime Story (Beauty Meets the Beast)"

This title was obtainable as an instant read on NetGalley.

"A Bedtime Story (Beauty Meets the Beast)" was an intriguing read. L.C Moon exposes her audience to a realistic tale were there isn't always a happy ending. Laura was a very timid and weak character who clung to her trauma. Kayne was domineering, using his "beastly" personality to smother the human being deep inside of him. At times, I had to remind myself that this was not your typical love story. In this tale no one redeems themselves and love is just an unspoken word.

This was available as an immediate read, via NetGalley, I am so glad I picked this read. This is not your typical fairy tale bedtime story and you need to heed the trigger warnings as it is not for the faint of heart.
If you like your MFC's a bit weak that grow into themselves and your MMC's strong, possessive, dominant and Mafia ties then this is the book for you. There is so much I want to say and yet I can't find the words without posting spoilers.
The book ends in a cliff hanger and I will be looking for the next round.

Laura, a young woman burdened by the weight of family trauma, who finds herself thrust into the clutches of the underworld due to her brother's criminal dealings. Within this shadowy realm exists Kayne, a figure known for his ruthless treatment of women. Yet, there's something about Laura that captivates him in ways he struggles to comprehend, while Laura herself grapples with her complex emotions toward Kayne and the dangerous world that threatens her safety and her brother's fate.

“A Bedtime Story” by L. C. Moon is a super spicy dark romance. The book is very dark and was never boring with the tension building and building. My favorite part was I was conflicted on whether or not I wanted them to be together which mirrors the characters conflicts on their own relationship. I wish the cover was better though. 4 out of 5 stars.
