Thanks to Net Galley for this ARC. One Sweet Holiday is a small town romance by Lucy Day. The characters are the best part of this book. I definitely pulled for Gwen and Logan. This book is part of the trend of Scottish themed romance. It's nice to see a mid sized heroine whose weight is not the reason for her insecurity. Very cute.
Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC copy, these are my honest opinions.
Gwen and Logan! Gwen’s insecurities and fears were so well written and realistic. This shows how hard it can be to have that voice in your head that is so negative. Logan dealing with his family drama and just wanting an escape is so real! Their love story, Logan just wanting to nurture and help Gwen was adorable. Gwen wanting to have fun around the Holidays so that Logan could have a good time even when it was hard for her was just chef’s kiss 🤌. I could read so much more of these! The characters weee fleshed out so good, story so good, plenty of romantic moments without the need for spice.
This is another cute little silly holiday romance that is charming, and delightful in every way. The cherry on top being that I could relate to Gwen in so many ways and really felt her struggle and understood her emotions. Throw in a hot Scot--my goodness, I'm out here hurting my own feelings reading this book, wishing it was me lol.
The plot overall was predictable, but not in a bad way. I love the fact that there was no third act break-up, which I absolutely hate. The chemistry between Logan and Gwen was spectacular, but tame enough to keep this a 1/1.5 pepper.
Quick read, with a sweet epilogue, that I almost wish it had been a longer book. Great first read for me for this author. :)
5 peppers, 1 pepper.
Thank you NetGalley and Lucy Day for the opportunity to read this book! Holiday romance is one of my favorites and reminded me of Hallmark Christmas movies!
Fun holiday romp. Had me early with hot Scot bazillionaire coming to town. A few bits of editorial blips and plot questions, but overall nice light read and would check out the others in the series, but read well as stand alone.
This was a cute enough, lighthearted escape at Christmas time. But nothing that I will stick with me in the future. Also just not a fan of the insta love trope which knocked my rating down a bit.
Thank you to net galley and blue crow publishing for this ARC of ‘One Sweet Holiday’
From opening this book and getting to know the characters I knew that I was going to not be able to put it down. The first time ever I’ve managed to read a book in one sitting. The characters I found to be instantly drawn to. They were well developed and the author handled the difficult topics with such care and understanding. I’m so greatful to have been introduced to this author as the other books in the series have been added to my tbr immediately.
I loved this book! I couldn’t put it down. Just the right balance between plot, character development, fun, and rooting for the main character. Add in a dash of family drama and you have the perfect fiction book. It definitely made me look into the other books in the series and I cannot wait to read the other books by this author!
While there were some predictable parts to this book, it didn't make it any less enjoyable to read! The story begins with laugh-out-loud moments with Gwen, the main character, and her desire to want to make her sister's wedding the fairy tale that her sister is hoping it to be. What we learn is Gwen had a very unfortunate break up that everyone in town seems to know about and as she's searching for a date for the wedding, she gets to know Logan who is staying at a lakehouse down the street from Gwen's. I loved the relationship between Gwen and her sister and between Gwen and Logan and rooted for both to have their happy ever after!
A sweet Christmas romance that tended to be a little on the predictable side but still good. It was also a fairly quick read.
Another book was a fun, and cute cover, that covers much darker topics.
Please be sure to read the TWs and Synopsis to pick this one up.
This IS a cute little holiday romcom, but each character is attempting to grow and heal from emotional turbulence in the their past. The support the characters provide is hopeful, and charming, and sweet.
Not my favorite but others seem to love it.
Also, who doesnt love a good fake dating plotline?
Gwen owns a cafe and bakery in small town Jasmine Falls, South Carolina when she meets Logan Fyfe, the gorgeous Scottish bachelor who is staying in the house next door to hers by the lake. He's in town as a guest to her sister's wedding.
From the moment he arrives, they are both smitten with each other and Logan goes out of his way to help Gwen out with her business and teaching her to speak her mind. Having someone wanting to take care of her and being in her corner really helps her and she grows quite quickly as a person.
Logan had a lot going on with his own family back in Scotland and when he had to go back to take care of something, Gwen was convinced this was the end of their relationship and she was prepared to let Logan go even though she didn't want to. Thankfully Logan doesn't allow her to push him away so there was no third-act breakup (Yay!) and after only two days away in Scotland, he came back and the live happily ever after.
I enjoyed the story, Logan was the perfect boyfriend. He stands up for his girl, he supports her in every way but he also takes a step back and allows her to handle things on her own. He is everything you could want in a man. It was a fast paced story and I felt the dialogue flowed really well but it would have been good for Gwen to finally get to show her mother up after the way she's been treating Gwen her whole life.
Thanks to NetGalley and Blue Crow Publishing for the opportunity to read and review this ARC.
This is my first Lucy Day book so obviously I haven't read any of the other books in the series. I received a copy of this from NetGalley in exchange for honest feedback. Our main character Gwen lives in Jasmine Falls, SC which is a small town. She's just recently dumped her fiance because he was cheating on her but now her sister Victoria is getting married over the holiday season and Gwen is trying to get her head in order to get through this wedding and the holiday season with her cafe. It doesn't help that her mother won't stop meddling in her life and trying to play matchmaker for her. Victoria and her future husband end up renting her house out, which is right next door to Gwen, to a wedding guest flying in from Scotland. Wouldn't you know, he just so happens to be very handsome and Gwen keeps running into him. After no luck finding a date to the wedding and desperate to get her mom off her back so that she can focus on her business, Gwen's sister Victoria asks Logan the Scot from next door if he'll be Gwen's fake date for all things wedding and holiday. He happily agrees and antics ensue.
This book has loads of small town charm and is sure to get you into the Christmas spirit. I could have used this book last month when I was dreading putting up my Christmas tree! There are well-rounded recurring characters that give this book a Stars Hollow vibe (for you all of you Gilmore Girls lovers reading this). This book also gives off a Hallmark Christmas movie vibe with a little bit more heat but for those of you who love a closed door romance, say no more. This is not a spicy book and I do not mind that one bit. Especially when the storyline and characters are so well thought out. I can tell that the author put a lot of thought into the characters because you get a very strong sense of their individual personalities.
The small town Christmas activities are very cute, hay rides, ugly sweater parties, fundraiser auctions and all attended by our adorable main characters, Gwen and Logan. While this book is adorable, it's also funny, thought provoking and heartwarming. I will absolutely read the other books in this series!
What a sweet & enjoyable holiday romance!
To me, Gwen was so relatable and I feel she would be for a lot of females out there. Bad relationships that make you question everything, not feeling good enough, etc.
I also personally loved that she was a baker, which made the book feel extra hygge.
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read this!
Gwen is a self-doubting baker, enlists the help of charming Scotsman Logan for her sister's wedding. The small-town charm adds humor as their fake relationship turns into a heartwarming journey of self-discovery and unexpected love. Reminiscent of a Hallmark movie, it's a feel-good read celebrating the magic of the holiday season and the beauty of embracing one's true self.
This is the cute story of Gwen, the small-town baker who doesn’t know just how beautiful she is and Logan, the billionaire handsome Scot who is just in town for a short break.
Gwen has her sister Victoria’s wedding coming up when Mark, her fiancé, breaks up with her for being too boring. Everyone in Jasmine Falls SC knows everyone and it’s not long before they all hear about the breakup.
Gwen wants to make sure the focus is on her sister at the wedding, so she asks Logan to pretend to be her boyfriend for the wedding. She believes he’s totally out of her league and he doesn’t understand why she doesn’t realize how great she is.
I really really loved reading their romance unfold and seeing him take care of her. Such a cute sweet romance that reminded me of a Hallmark movie.
This book was a really cute small town type of romance that will make you fall in love with the holiday season. It is a fade to black as well with a dream Scottish man! If you love small town romances where there is mutual pining and lots of inner dialogue of how much they like each other, then I recommend diving head first into this one.
Before picking this book up I was reading a very sad, emotionally draining book. All I needed was a pick me up and this book was what I needed.
A holiday book, fake dating small town romance???? SIGN ME UP!! The book was a very heart warming cosy read. I’m a sucker for fake dating trope and watching our main character and her love interest fall for each-other had me giggling. I did feel like some parts of the plot was slightly rushed but nevertheless a good read for those cold days you’re indoors all cosy. One aspect I really enjoyed was gwen and her sister’s relationship. Having a sister myself I liked the touch it brought alongside the relatability. Relatability something also brought in Gwen’s character. She was just a normal girl with insecurities so many people also deal with, making her easy to resonate with. Also don’t get me started on Logan, we love a supportive king!
Overall loved the characters and writing style. Although some aspects of the plot did feel rushed and predictable, it’s definitely a heartwarming read to pick you up after those rough emotionally charged books.
Thank you to Blue crow publishing and net gallery for the e-arc.
This is such a wonderful story.
Gwen's sister wedding is near with no wedding date but luckily, she meets Logan, the handsome neighbor. For the sake of proving to everybody that she has moved on from her breakup, she fake dates Logan.
The chemistry between Gwen and Logan is hard to miss.
The loving bond between the sisters is very beautiful.
I would like to thank the author for the ARC

In summary: A Holiday romance story
This is my first book by Lucy Day.
Set in the small town of Jasmine Falls. The main character Gwen Griffin is the owner of her own bakery and busy preparing for her sister’s wedding. When her sister’s fiancé offers the house next door to rent to his friend Logan from Scotland. Logan is running away from his own mess back in Scotland where he stands to inherit a business he doesn’t want to run.
I liked the fact Gwen is a strong character throughout the book. She knows what she wants, she puts her business first and foremost as most owner/ operator would do. I liked the way Logan wins Gwen over during the course of the story. I felt Logan while he was a good character overall, I felt that he was lacking a little in his story arc involving his family. I had thought there could be a bit more depth and colour here to flesh out Logan’s story.
Overall, I enjoyed the story as a whole and felt satisfied with the ending.
