On Her Watch is book 8 in the Bree Taggert series and I have no words when it comes to this amazing series. Melinda Laigh is able to bring the excitement and new with book 1 all the way though to book 8 in this series. The story is detailed and yet fast pace at the same time. The characters are alive and saving the world the author has created.
The characters are still growing and developing, and Bree is still trying to find her feet when it comes to being a Mom\Aunt.
This is a can't miss series as well as book.
Thank you to Netgalley for a copy of On Her Watch

Sheriff Bree Taggert is back in action in this fast pace thriller which sees her and her fellow investigator Matt Flynn following and capturing the trail of a horrific serial killer before he adds on to his victim count.

The investigation begins due to the accidental discovery of a set of bones by hikers. Further search, leads them towards two more bones buried at various periods of time. With identification itself proving to be a difficult task, the team has their work cut off for them. How will the team manage to find the culprit? Who is he?,

Leigh has woven an interesting and thrilling story of a serial killer managing to keep the identity of the killer a secret almost till the end of the book; this is what I loved the most about this book. The banters between Taggert and Matt Flynn were lovely and interesting. The many directions in which the story travels gives it layers of intrigue which makes it an interesting read.

I recommend this book to thriller lovers; this book won't disappoint you.

On Her Watch is the eighth book in the Bree Taggert series.

Sheriff Bree Taggert is called out for a domestic abuse call. Having experienced this firsthand, Bree is able to reach out to the victim, but she is not willing to press charges. She leaves with her father and should be safe.

The body of a young woman is found in a forest by hikers once Bree and Matt arrive two more are found nearby. Word gets out that there is the possibility of a serial killer is on the loose.

As they try to learn who the young women are that have died, another body of a missing woman falls from a tree onto Bree's car as they are leaving. Meanwhile the domestic abuse victim turns up missing. Bree, Matt and the rest of the team have their hands full trying to solve the crimes and locate a missing woman.

These books are always fast paced and full of intrigue. This book delivers exactly why we come back for more. The characters are consistent throughout. The story is well written and keeps the reader turning the pages. this book can be a stand-alone read, but the series is worth reading each one.

Thank you to Netgalley, the publishing house and the author for the opportunity to read a complimentary copy of this book in return for a review based upon my honest opinion.

This is the eighth book in the Bree Taggert series. This could easily be read as a stand-alone book but the series is really good, I would recommend reading them all. As Sheriff, Bree tries to remain as open and honest with the public as possible. When a couple of hikers (why is it always hikers) find a body wrapped in a tarp far in the woods, Bree and her team, including her boyfriend and police consultant. Matt are on the scene. Suddenly they disocver more than one body discarded in the same manner and realize that they may have a serial killer in their midst. Bree decides to be honest with the townspeople and warn them, making her boss a little uncomfortable.

As Bree and her team try to find the killer, they discover more missing women, can they locate the killer and find out what sick motive he has for killing these women. I like the dynamics between the characters and the storylines are always great. Looking forward to the next book in the series!

This is my first Bree Taggert series book. She is a Sheriff in a small town. She finds three girls that have been murdered and left in a park near rocks hiding their bodies.
Very interesting book.
Thanks to publisher Montlake and to NetGalley for the ARC.

On Her Watch was another fantastic addition to the Bree Taggert series featuring Bree's search for a serial killer.

After two hikers find a tarp-wrapped body in the woods, Sheriff Bree Taggert searches the surrounding area and finds two more bodies. Convinced they've found a serial killer's dumping ground, Bree quickly begins her investigation. Working with investigator Matt Flynn, Bree goes to interview one of the victim's best friends only to find the woman's apartment ransacked and set on fire. With another woman missing, the search for the killer has escalated and Bree needs to find the killer quickly before another woman dies.

On Her Watch opens with a young girl running away from home before the book jumps forward in time to Bree getting the call about the hikers finding a body in the woods. When Bree arrives to the scene, it doesn't take long to discover two additional bodies nearby. Serial killer cases tend to make really interesting mysteries so I was looking forward to seeing this plot play out. Also, I was curious how that opening chapter would end up being connected to the plot. Soon after Bree begins her investigation, another woman goes missing which definitely makes things more urgent as the hope is to find her alive. The case goes in several directions and I was somewhat surprised by the reveal of the killer's identity. The final confrontation with the killer was very well done with the perfect mix of action and suspense.

Bree is a great main character and she's come a long way since the first book in the series. She's much more open now and willing to let others in. Her relationship with Matt continues to be amazing. The two moved in together in the previous book and I really enjoyed the little moments we got to see of them together at home with the kids. Bree's family is threatened as a result of her investigation and I have to say that's one thing I didn't love about this book as I feel like they've been targeted so many times throughout the series. Thankfully everything works out for the better and everyone is alright.

Overall On Her Watch was a great read and I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series, Track Her Down, when it releases next year.

I really enjoy this series. Bree is a thorough and caring sheriff with Matt, the hunky Viking, by her side in work and life.
They get even closer as they desperately track down missing women who are petite blondes and also all share another common element.
I had no clue to the identities of the perps until it was revealed in the book.
I adored the K-9 Greta and Vader the spiteful cat yakks in Matt’s boots several times, hysterical!
Dana was not really a part of this book and I wonder where her character is headed.

This series continues to be one of my favorites! I always feel like I am sucked into the story and right there with Bree and the gang. For me this was a little different from the rest of the series, but I really enjoyed that aspect. I think it helps keep the series fresh and interesting. The suspense and plot in this story was a slow burn and then a rush. Loved everything about it! I cannot wait for the next one.

Another fantastic read from the Bree Taggert series by Melinda Leigh. I was recommended this series about a year ago, and I’ve throughly enjoyed the progression in each book. Bree has developed in to a stronger woman than she was even in the first book.

On Her Watch was definitely a gut wrenching read dealing with a serial killer targeting pregnant women. I can’t wait to read the next one!

Thank you Montlake and NetGalley for allowing me to read an ARC for this incredible read! Can’t wait for number 9!

I've been a fan of the authors since her Morgan Dane series. She writes crime series that are character driven. I grow to like the characters and almost as much as the case.

Missing women, an outbreak of the flu and the case turning personal highlight book 8 of the series. I love the work life balance of Bree and Matt and also the team aspect of solving the case. They all have their strengths and help each other when seeking justice.

This one kept me guessing from start to finish. I like how the case seemed to parallel their personal life.

Christina Traister narrated this one. At first she sounded a little older than I imagined Bree, but I liked how she brought the seriousness of the investigation to the front of the story and by the end of my listen she seemed perfect for the role.

This series gets better and better. Lots of twists and turns. Ms. Leigh kept me on the edge of my seat, and had me flipping through the pages wondering what was going to happen next. I just couldn’t put it down. Sheriff Bree Taggert doesn’t lie when someone asks if there’s a serial killer out there, She won’t rest until the person is caught. They means long hours, and missing the kids. Matt Flynn is right by her side, and now that he’s living with her he’s just fits. There a team. So many victims. When one disappears can they find her in time? See what happens and buy the book. You won’t be disappointed. I would buy in order., but that’s just me.
I sure can’t wait for the next one.

Another great book in this series. Sheriff Bree Taggert works a serial killer case as young women in her town are coming up missing. This book has great writing and a great plot. The familiar characters from her other books are in this book also. I love how Bree has grown to realize the great bond she has with her family.

I adore this series. They can be read as standalones but reading them in order shows Bree’s growth. The crimes are always gripping and the characters are so damn lovable. Seeing a sick Kayla interact with Matt was too adorable. Bree and her whole family make the books and they add a lightness to the darkness of the murders. Bree’s personal life is always balanced beautifully with the crime aspect. The investigation kept me guessing and while I kinda worked out the motive I was surprised by the reveal which I always enjoy. The ending was as dramatic as ever and I wasn’t sure who was going to make it out.

Bree and Co. have an already full plate dealing with a flu epidemic which has raged through the town and sheriff's office. Then a body is found in a remote wooded area but on further inspection further bodies are found. There would appear to be a new serial killer on the loose - one with a predilection for small, fragile looking females but that's not the only similarities between victims!

With overstepping reporters and the local police board representative hovering, Bree has her hands full. Dealing with mourning parents are horrible tasks but Bree and the team handle them with tact.

I love this series as it deals not only with the solving of the murder but with Bree's family life. Living and working with Matt, parenting her late sister's children and the beautifully portrayed relationship with her former cop partner/best friends/housemate! She is flawed, distracted and determined to be the best Sheriff she can be - despite the lackadaisical financial assistance from the police board.

This still feels as fresh and exciting as the first book in the series and even through the romance takes a back seat to the suspense, the relationship between Bree and Matt is evolving with every book.

It's all hands on deck as flu sweeps through Grey's Hollow and Sheriff Bree Taggert is on the hunt for a serial killer in the small town.

Once again, she relies on the skills of Investigator Matt Flynn in helping her work towards solving and apprehending possible suspects.

I love Bree's leadership style. How she won't ask any of her deputies to undertake a task she isn't prepared to do herself.

This novel has an undercurrent of domestic violence which might be problematic for some readers but probably fairly standard for sheriff departments I'd imagine.

All in all another successful investigation for Sheriff Taggert and another winner from Melinda Leigh.

On Her Watch by Melinda Leigh is the 8th entry in her Bree Taggert series. Randolph County Sheriff Bree is tasked with investigating several murders in the Grey’s Hollow area. Her romantic and working partner, investigator Matt Flynn, wonders if this is the work of a serial killer, and they embark on the investigation in this excellent police procedural, ably assisted by K-9 officer Greta and her handler, Deputy Collins. As the killer’s activity escalates, the action and dramatic tension ramps up, leading to an exciting hunt for the perpetrator in the last third of the novel.
Bree is written as a strong, competent, independent woman, an admirable member of law enforcement, which enhances my appreciation for this series. Her softer side shows in the sweet vignettes featuring her boyfriend Matt and their extended families who have a somber history but uplifting vision. The humanity, warm family life and love counterbalance the grim line of work that constitutes Bree’s chosen career.
While this is #8 of a series, it can easily be enjoyed as a stand-alone police procedural. For a deeper understanding of all the characters, I recommend reading all the novels in order. This is another outstanding, moving, crime novel by Melinda Leigh!

Thank you to Montlake and NetGalley for the ARC. This is my honest review.
