Starting Over Scottish might be the cutest freakin’ holiday romcom novella I’ve read this season. Not to mention, the audiobook narrators were amazing - thank you Will Watt for adding all that Scottish brogue to the narration of Reid! (Swoons)

While I adored Harper’s independent bossy lady attitude and the banter between the main characters, I absolutely adored the book club ladies - they seriously were the highlight of every page they were on!

If you are looking for a grumpy/sunshine, heart warming, short holiday read, you won’t go wrong with Starting Over Scottish.

These are the same narrators that did her Enchanted Highlands series and I LOVED every minute of the narration. I wish every male narrator had a Scottish accent.
Being back in the Scottish world she had created felt like a hug. This book isn't part of the Enchanted Highlands series, but the characters make a cameo and the vibe in this one was the same. A little magic, a little whisky, some heartfelt moments and some spicy spice. It was everything l've come to love about a Tricia O'Malley story.

This is a brief and delightful book about an American woman named Harper who decides to experience running a pub in Scotland. She plans to go with her best friend but ends up going alone. While staying in Reid's grandfather's apartment, she accidentally walks in on him while he is naked. Despite this awkward encounter, Harper remains determined to have her Scottish experience and figure out her life. The story takes place over three hours and consists of 162 pages where Harper and Reid fall in love. The book is short but sweet, with a charming little ghost that occasionally appears in the pub. Both narrators did an excellent job of portraying their characters and accents. Will's Scottish and American accents were particularly impressive. Overall, the story is brief but heartwarming, and it will leave you with that cozy Christmas romance feeling that it aims to evoke.

I was fortunate to receive an advance copy of this book from NetGalley. My favorite part of this book is the premise- a woman travels to Scotland for a working vacation experience in which she helps out at a pub in exchange for room and board (yes, I went down the rabbit hole of seeing if the Wigtown Bookshop Airbnb was real and available). American Harper has her meet-cute with half-naked Scotsman Reed, surprising him not only with her presence but also with her work-for-lodging arrangement. This book leans into the forced proximity trope and takes place over the holidays- also billed as grumpy meets sunshine. This is a short, entertaining listed with dual POV but didn’t completely draw me in or have me convinced of the chemistry. 3.5 stars.

I just finished listening to Startng over Scottish, and loved it. I could happily listen to the narrator's Scottish brogue all day.

Hyperbaric Scott is sick to death of her dull temporary job. She and her roommate decide to take a wild leap into adventure, but plans go awry and Harper goes alone.

Harper arrives in Scotland to find the lodging she booked occupied by a grumpy, handsome man. Sparks fly, but you'll have to listen to learn more. By the way, there just might be a wee kitten involved!

I loved this book and would highly recommend it to all romance readers.

In the interest of full disclosure, I received a free digital audio copy of this title from Net Galley.

Harper has decided to take on a new experience for a change. She plans to go on a work-for-hire Scottish Pub Experience with her best friend. She's stunned when her best friend reveals that she's pregnant and newly engaged right before they are supposed to leave on the trip they planned. In her best friend's instance, she makes the trip on her own only to arrive in Scotland to find out that the flat where she is meant to be staying is occupied. She ends up staying with the grumpy man despite the misunderstanding and feelings develop. It's a fast-paced, cute and short holiday romance.

Oh my! I didn't expect to feel so many emotions with this book. I loved all the Scottish references and the small village atmosphere. The main characters are perfect together and the addition of a war kitten was so sweet. The audio is fantastic and I need to read more of this author's books!

First I would like to thank Dreamscape Select for providing me a copy of the audiobook in exchange for my honest review.

This is the story of Harper who is convinced by her best friend to book a "Scottish Pub Experience" where they will work and live above a put in Scotland over Christmas. When her friend can't come Harper decides to go alone and stumbles into her promised apartment which is occupied by a half-naked grumpy Scotsman who 1) has no idea who she is and 2) tries to kick her out. Reed is shaken from his grief when an American knocks on his door one night and tells him she is staying and working at his grandfather's old pub. As they live together Harper and Reed learn about themselves and each other.

What I Loved:
- Narrators, the dual POVs were perfectly cast and I didn't want the book to end cause it was so enjoyable to listen too. Also as a sucker for a Scottish accent Will Watt's accent was perfect.
- Holiday novella, this was one of my first holiday reads of the season and was exactly what I needed to get in the holiday mood
- Steamy, even though this was a short book it was not light on the spice
- Wallace, its a kitten who they find together and I'm OBSESSED (obviously)

If you are looking for a grumpy/sunshine American in a foreign land enemies to romance holiday novella then this is the book for you. Any romance audiobook lovers out there this is a must because the narration and overall quality of the audiobook is just top notch and I might even listen to it again before the year is up.

This is a STEAMY new Christmas book that’s perfect for the grumpy sunshine lovers out there. Harper wants to start over, so she books a stay in a Scottish town that includes getting to run a local pub.

Unbeknownst to her, the owner of the flat has died leaving his surly, though handsome, grandson with the deed to her lease. She refuses to go home, he is convinced to let her stay and reopen his grandpa’s pub.. and well… I think we know where this one ends.

It’s filled with charming descriptions of Christmas in Scotland and a few sexy scenes. It’s more a novella than a book, so it’s a perfect one-sitting read! #gifted

"Starting Over Scottish" is a Hallmark movie turned contemporary romance novella. Harper's life is a mess; her career, love life, bank account, and relationship with her mother are all in shambles, and its time for a big change. She decides to make a great escape to Scotland for an AirBnb type experience where she lives and runs a local pub.

Reed has spent his life running away from his grief after the tragic passing of his parents. After the passing of his beloved grandfather, Lewis, Reed is forced back to his tiny hometown in Scotland to organize Lewis' affairs when Harper comes barging (literally) into his life. Through a series of miscommunications and stubbornness the two end up with their fates intertwined.

This book includes:
- dual pov with a unique narrator for each pov in the audiobook
- grumpy sunshine dynamic
- small town christmas
- big evil mystery company wants to destroy the town type drama
- slow burn
- he falls first trope

This novella is fun, light, and perfect for a lil contemporary romance in the holiday season. The main characters were sweet and I loved the small supernatural element, despite it coming out of nowhere. So if you're looking for some season's greeting to pair with a nice hot cup of hot coco, this is the perfect choice.

I received this audiobook as an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Thank you to NetGalley, Tricia O'Malley, and Dreamscape Select for the opportunity to read and review this story. This review had been posted to GoodReads.

ARC audiobook provided in exchange for an honest review.

I really liked that even though this is a novella, they still have male/female dual narration! The voices were clear and concise and the man voicing the Scottish accent made the story feel so real! All around I thought it was cute and fairly predictable which I fully expected it to be. If you like romantic comedies and are looking for a quick listen, give this book a shot!

I was really excited to review this one as a fun Holiday novella with some hot accents and romance. I loved the narration, but I honestly found the book a bit boring. There was some insta-love, which I sort-of expect in a novella, but the characters were not really deep or developed properly. I gave it 3 stars for the narrator.

Really enjoyed this cozy winter novella - my only complaint is that it wasn’t longer! I will certainly be reading more by Tricia O’Malley. (The narration was great too!)

"I berated myself for damn near ravishing her simply so I didn't have to feel grief."

Starting Over Scottish by long time romance author Tricia O'Malley is a sweet, bit steamy Scottish romance about two people who need each other more than they care to admit.

It's Christmas time and Scottish Reid hates it for a good reason but American Harper loves the traditions. They try to save a pub from a greedy conglomerate, are forced to share a small loft and deal with some awkward moments; let the enemies to lovers trope begin.

Narrators Amy Landon and Will Watt are funny but I appreciated their care with the more sensitive moments. I did slow the audio because, once again, the Scottish accent was a bit thick for my NY ears.

A stubborn American, a grumpy Scotsman, lots of sexual tension, cute banter, and adorable kitties all come together to save a pub, Christmas and love.

I received a free copy of this audiobook from Dreamscape Select and Love Write Publishing via #NetGalley for a fair and honest review. All opinions are my own.

This was precious and only my absolute dream come true. I loved both the main characters, and every single side character. The setting of the small scottish town was perfect and the idea of an airbnb experience of running a bar - based on the bookstore airbnb experience in wigtown which I've been obsessed with forever - was a great premise for a comedy of errors meet cute.

This sweet, seasonal novella is the perfect listen for a cozy winter night.
So immersive, I felt transported to small town Scotland and wishing I was discussing this book with The Book Bitches while sipping on a nip of whisky and snuggling Wee Warrior Wallace the War Kitten in the Royal Unicorn. The narrators brought incredible energy to the audiobook and I really related to Harper's feeling of being stuck and needing to try something completely new that's both scary and exciting. I loved the grumpy/sunshine dynamic of the couple in a forced-proximity setting but the romance felt a little rushed, which comes down to the short length of the story.
