This picture book has charming illustrations of a mixed-race family enjoying time together and talking about their hair. The illustrations are lovely, and the text is gentle and sweet, describing each person's hair texture and style in a positive and affectionate way. The family members express their love for one another, and it's really wholesome and sweet.

In the advance copy I read, there was a typo on one page, and I hope that this got fixed prior to publication. Regardless, this will be a great book for parents who want to find books celebrating Black girls' hair, especially if they're in a mixed-race family that resembles this one.

A great children's book that celebrates the beauty of diversity and self-love. As soon as I opened its pages, I was hooked by the story of a young mixed-race girl and her loving parents. This book reminds us all that beauty comes in all shapes, sizes, and hair textures. It's a heartfelt exploration of self-acceptance and the importance of recognizing and appreciating our own unique features. With its colorful illustrations and relatable narrative, it's a book that children should read to boost their self-esteem and teach them to love themselves just the way they are. This book is a treasure trove of positivity.

This is a really adorable story about family dynamics that warms the heart. It explores what it means to live in an interracial family, and possibly look a little different from your parents.

The issue of African American and POC hair - in addition to the special care requirements that may be needed - has often led to individuals becoming the target of unpleasant comments. On occasion, it degenerates into straight out racism about "kinky" or "nappy" hair, for example, instead of the "curly, swirly" crown of hair described by the writer in this book.

Under the circumstances, it is extremely important to teach children who are biracial (as in this story), or of mixed heritage, how to love and take care of what makes them unique. That is the message very ably delivered by this little story.

The illustrations are very cute, and have an old-timey, somewhat classic feel about them. The story left me feeling happy and contented.
