I love the storyline of this book but I found Morgan annoying and childish. But I do believe that maybe essential to the storyline but I think she could have been written with a bit more maturity in the way she does things. She seemed more adult and put together in the first book.
Draven is patient and kind but also very secretive. Very much an enemies to lovers and then to enemies again. I do love their love unfold and twist. The ending is a massive cliff hanger and I can’t wait to start the next one!
Thank you NetGalley for the book!
My god, where do I begin? This book surpassed the 1st book. The stakes, the steamy scenes, the friendships. I loved that Boleyn incorporated such a macabre way to inherit the throne of the Siabra. I found myself gasping and wanting to read ahead with each part of the trials. I loved the confidence and growth Morgan went through and how she ripped through Avriel (fuck him and his incestual lust). I'm going to have to buy the physical copies of these books to annotate, that's how good they are.
"I just want this to be good for you. I don't know who you've been with before, what you've done. I don't need to know any of that. I'm just saying, I want this to be good. Between us. Tonight."
Can't wait to read the next one!
.......
Also, my heart hurts for Beks, he was such a lovable character!
I received this as an Arc through NetGalley.
😍😍😍 This book was even better than the first. If you loved ACOTAR this is one to read.
Enemies to Lovers
Forced Proximity
Battle Cats
Magic
Deadly Games / Trials
Tension
🌶️🌶️ definitely more spice to this than the first book.
Picking up right where Queen of Roses left off Morgan awakens in an unfamiliar place so far from home and the people she loves. Dealing with loss, pain and sadness she finds herself stuck with Draven as his Paramour, all for her own protection. The tension between the two builds and the book is filled with unexpected twists and turns.
The ending leaves an even bigger cliffhanger than the first, and I couldn’t put it down. Thankfully the third book is already out :)
A sincere thank you to NetGalley and Victory Editing for granting me an early peek into the enchanting world of A Court of Claws. Awarding this novel 3.5 stars, my reflections encompass both admiration and a touch of hesitation.
Boleyn's creation is an imaginative fusion of magical wonders, with a Camelot-inspired fae twist that keeps the reader on their toes. The supporting characters, in particular, undergo a commendable transformation, adding layers to the narrative that are both engaging and satisfying.
Regrettably, the crux of my reservation rests upon the portrayal of the Female Main Character (FMC). Her disposition, occasionally veering into the realms of whininess and immaturity, introduced a discordant note to an otherwise sophisticated narrative. The challenge I encountered in fully connecting with her journey somewhat tempered my overall enjoyment.
My optimism for the forthcoming installment hinges on the anticipation of significant growth and maturation for the FMC. A more nuanced portrayal would undoubtedly enhance the cohesiveness of the narrative, potentially elevating the series to greater heights.
In closing, A Court of Claws showcases Boleyn's prowess in constructing a captivating world with a magnetic magical allure. Despite my reservations, the narrative potential is undeniable, and I eagerly await the next chapter, hopeful for a more harmonious blend of character dynamics and enchanting storytelling.
Court of Claws is book two in the Blood of a Fae series by Briar Boleyn. The first part, Queen of Roses was fantastic and left on a cliffhanger with some deaths which made me desperate to read on and find out what happened next.
There were some revelations at the end of the first book, which gladly is picked up from where was left off in book one right at the beginning of book two. I was happy that the story followed on quickly and the entire setting was changed which was wonderful. In the first book Morgan goes on her very first quest, it’s the first time in her sheltered life as princess where she was able to go out and experience the world around her as she had hungered to do so. The first book dealt with her battling her feelings for Draven as well as trying to figure out her place in the world, dealing with finding out about her heritage and who she really was. Thankfully with the second book picking up from that point, it was great to get into the story and help Morgan progress in her new body, feeling ready to explore what she is able to do physically with the powers that she possesses.
There is an introduction to many new characters, most of which are amazing. There is one in particular I won’t go into any detail because spoiler alert, that character dies at the end and I still haven’t gotten over that particular death. And there is also another new character who I really liked, who massively betrays Morgan at the end of Court of Claws… So, I have a feeling that the character will be involved in the next book, but again, I feel betrayed… I did not see that coming.
The romance between Morgan and Draven however is spicy and filled with angst. The way she speaks to him and about him had me laughing out loud! There are also some particular names that she calls him that ended me! It’s a really fun and enjoyable enemies to lovers, and I was really rooting for them to work it out…
It’s a really fun fantasy adventure that has plenty of shocks, surprises, found family, tears and laughter aplenty! It’s spicy and just such a great read.

*Blood of a Fae Book Two*

Review:
🚨 This book has a content & trigger warning like book one. 🚨
- "To my horror, I realized I was aroused. Aroused by this man covered in blood, fresh from battle, with his naked blade still gripped in his hand."
- "You're all I think about. You're all I see. I'm so tied to you, I barely know who I am anymore."
Book two has a punctuation guide, but not the map this time. 🥺 Which is understandable based on where this book takes place. Can't explain without giving away spoilers. Lol. The world-building is beautiful, just like the first one. I forgot to say in my review of the first book that it's LGBTQ+ friendly(🥰) but has characters that are against it, just like the real world.
So much more history of the fae, lore, & some of the past is revealed in this one. A slow burn, a blooming romance, more creatures are described in this book, political, magic, & the spice! 😏👀 There isn't a lot of spice, it's mostly plot. Which is what I prefer, for the most part. 😉 The ending was emotional. 🥺😭

It continues in a simulate vibe as the Frist one. Morgan is hot and cold. Draven claims affection but can’t be straight with Morgan to save his life.
But we meet new lovable characters and expand on the world building. It not bad. I especially like the zombie virus children. Very creepy, very history defining.
In this installment we get introduced to the unseelie court. It’s interesting over all now that I’m invested in the characters.
This sequel is everything and so much more!
From the very first page to the last. Seeing the character growth and the growth of the plot was so well written out. The side characters are phenomenal, just as much as the Main characters. The spice really heats up, as well 🔥
Thank you NetGalley for early access to this amazing book!
This book hooked me right away! and I read the three books back to back.
I can not wait to buy physical copies for my collection!
Rating: 4.5/5
I received an eARC for my honest opinion.
Book two of Blood of a Fae, and it picks up right where book one leaves off and you will be thrown into an emotional roller coaster with all the different things going on in this book. The author does a great job of making new things and still has the same issues there too, without you getting confused. Just like in the first book you will get information throughout the book to help you with the plot and this book has a lot more of understanding where the plot will be going because it's less character driven and more plot driven. You will meet some new characters in this book, and you will still hear of other characters from the first book as well.
I was saddened to hear about what happened to one character in book one, but I am holding out hope that this person did make it through but is somewhere else, safe and sound (keeping those fingers crossed). As for Morgan and Draven, I still love them even more so than I did in book one. I love the banter, the hate, the love (can we talk about touching her and die vibes *yummy*). Book two you will be thrown into a world where Draven was born and raised until he left and everyone there thinks of Morgan as being his paramour, something that she didn’t agree with, and she is quite vocal about it. Soon she finds out that he must compete in the trial of who will be the next king or queen of his court. That is where Morgan finally lets her feelings through, and you see them start getting closer but in Morgan's mind there are still things that don’t add up and you see her pushing away and trust me I know I was mad at her like omg girl just talk to him or stop overthinking everything and be happy lol. I do have to say that she does start to come into her character more in this book and you can see a lot more development from her.
I thought the twists and turns in the plot were well done in this book and I can’t believe a few of them happened but I can’t wait to see what book three will bring us. Fingers crossed that it’s still Morgan and Draven running and defecting whoever comes next, I love those two. Oh yeah and that cliffhanger at the end of this book!! OMG! Like kill me.
If you love reading fantasy books with action, drama, near death, love, and of course the best enemies to lovers you have to pick up book one and two! Okay I’m off to book three because I have to know what happens next.
I want to thank NetGalley for the opportunity to review this book.
After Book 1 I was looking forward to seeing where this story went and it didn't disappoint. I couldn't put this down, again the authors pacing is perfect, crafting an immersive and exciting story that follows on from the first book but now Morgan finds herself in Draven's Court having to deal with the politics that comes along with that. Really enjoyed the twists and turns in this book and look forward to the next installment.
I read the book and although I was still quite drawn to it and was easily to get into reading this book, I didn’t love it as much as the first one. This is a 3.5 star read for me. It just didn’t wow me as much as the first one, but there were still some really great scenes. Also love the fact Lancelot is still alive!
I am looking forward to reading the third book!
Thank you NetGalley for the copy of Court of Claws on exchange for an honest review. The first couple chapters it took me a minute to get my bearings back into the story. But once I got there I could NOT put it down. I knew Morgan and Draven’s story was going to be good. But I didn’t expect THAT good.
Morgan is in a new court. Trying to get her bearings learn who she can trust and to play the games of this strange dark court. All while still reeling from major losses.
This was such a fun read! I will definitely be following up with Empress of Fae
* fae and magic weirdest
* Political intrigue
* Trials
* Enemies to lovers to enemies?
* Fated mates
**Please note Court of Claws is a dark romantacy. So if talks of abuse, sexual assault, miscarriages or things of tbe like are triggers for you please read the trigger warnings and take care of yourself. You matter 💜
Thank you to NetGalley for the ebook in exchange for my honest opinion.
This is the second book in the Blood of Fae series. The first book ended on a cliffhanger that had me eager to read the second book. I was slightly disappointed in how this book progressed. This book gives Touch her and die vibes, has forced proximity, enemies to lovers to enemies, and another trope I won't say because it isn't revealed until the very end of the book. I actually enjoy these tropes.
The reason I don't like this book as much as I was hoping to is because of all of the miscommunication. The entire book is just the FMC being upset and moody and hating the MMC, and the MMC not telling the FMC the truth about anything and hiding everything. I get it, makes for a more dramatic story, sure. It makes it so not everything is revealed to the audience at once and is a part of some story building. However, this is so over the top and such an extremely forced entity of this book, it really upset me. I was rooting for Draven the entire time, until it was so blatantly obvious he was intentionally hiding everything from her. She had every right to do what she does in the end and the whole book just gave me irritated ick vibes.
Am I going to read the next book? Yes, of course I am. I need to know what happens and I hope it gets better and the miscommunication stops between the 2 of them. Also, she has a savior complex this entire time about rushing to her younger brother's aid, but she never had the thought to strengthen herself in order to have the power to save herself. She also never considered the Siabra could actually help end the war because she was too busy thinking about herself only.
The writing of this book was better than the first book, stylewise at least. But because of the miscommunication that is rampant in this book I only gave it a 3.5/5. The spice level is a 2.5/5, there are a few scenes in the book, but they are in the middle of the book and nothing on either side.
4⭐️ 3🌶️
📖Massive thanks to Briar Boleyn and NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. 📖
Alright, so "Court of Claws" kicks it up a notch.
This book serves up enemies-turned-lovers vibes, mixing magic, mythical creatures, and a King Arthur redo with a Fae twist. Morgan faces unexpected challenges in Draven's court, navigating close quarters and SEXY chemistry. The world-building, plot, and characters? Absolutely top-notch, delivering the fiery and spicy goodness you crave.
Draven's got this "touch her and you die" vibe, which y’all know I LOVE.
Morgan's trust issues are on another level, i wanted to bash both their heads together and just scream COMMUNICATE FOR GOD SAKE. Yeah the whole miscommunication trope is big in this one.
BUT ALSO The cliffhanger? Huge. AM GASSED.
Trigger warnings are advised for this dark fantasy.
SPOILERS BELOW
THIS WHOLE BOOK I WAS CRYING OVER LANCELET
RYCHEL NGL BIGGEST BETRAYAL
And BEKS? I'm legit sobbing. Deserved way better.
Draven being all protective, saying if anyone touches his wife, it's game over – I love that. Why doesn't my gal Morgan see what's right in front of her?
“Morgan pendragon is not merely my paramour as i have led you all to believe." his eyes rested on me. "she is also my wife." THE SCREAM I SCRUMPT
"Get the fuck away from my wife, Sephone."
Beautiful fantasy! I absolutely love how descriptive Briar is and how it really paints the picture in your mind. This book features some of my favorite tropes: one bed, fake dating. Certain moments between the main characters had me giggling and kicking my feet. The spice was spicyyy and did not disappoint. I love all the creatures featured in this book and thought it was an interesting addition. Can’t wait to continue this series!
This was a great book to in the series! I loved that we really got to see the female main character really beyond her own journey and I appreciate that she is like the more powerful of the two.
From start to finish, this book held me in its spell. The characters were not just words on paper; they came alive with vividness and depth, immersing me in their world.
The author's writing style is not merely engaging; it's downright gripping. Each page was a joyous journey, and the atmospheric descriptions intensified the overall experience.
With meticulous attention to detail and a flair for creative storytelling, the narrative pulled me in completely. This book went beyond my expectations, leaving me eagerly anticipating the third book. I wholeheartedly recommend it a very strong sequel to the first book.
CAWPILE score: 8.29 / 4.5 stars
I enjoyed more the first book, but this one was good too, the issue for me was that at some points the plot was moving kinda slow, and sometimes really fast (however, it made sense to move this fast)
Getting to learn more about the fae, the Siabra and Draven was interesting, and seeing the relationship evolve and change quite naturally was really nice, I would have like to have more information on the fae civilizations however. We also finally get to learn more about Morgan past (mostly a confirmation to my suspicions and I just hope she'll really get to shine in the next book.
I was not prepared for the ending however, and while there is some good, there is also a lot of chaos and sadness
This book has me on the edge of my seat! I loved how much this world really started to come alive and learning more about the Court of Umbral Flames. And what a plot twist at the end! I loved the first book, but this book had my eyes peeled open, hanging onto every word. I cannot wait to read the next book. Excellent series.
In terms of spice, this book definitely steps it way up from the first book.
