I definitely enjoyed book 2 more than book 1 because the FMC was less "sorry for nerself"and more honest with her feelings (a tadbit more lol, baby steps). I also really enjoyed the action with the competition to the throne and the magic. One characters death at the end of the book felt very unnecessary and disappointed that they decided to kill off that characters but other than that I pretty much enjoyed this book.
** I HATE the inconsistency in chapter length. Some will be LONG while other are very short, it annoys me...

I really enjoyed the fast-paced nature of the book!! it pulls you into the story right away and keeps you on your toes with plenty of unexpected twists and turns. Can’t wait to dive into book 4 and the last of the series

This series gets better and better the further you read. I cannot wait to read the conclusion. The way the individual characters grew on their own was beautiful.

Empress of Fae by Briar Boleyn is an imaginative and enchanting fantasy novel filled with magical realms, political intrigue, and complex relationships. The world-building is rich, offering a vivid landscape of the Fae and their courtly politics, which adds a lot of depth to the story. The protagonist, an ambitious and strong-willed character, is an interesting lead, and the conflicts she faces keep the plot moving.
However, while the premise is intriguing, the pacing can be inconsistent at times, and certain parts of the plot feel a bit predictable. The romance element, which is central to the story, may appeal to some but might come across as cliché to others. Additionally, some secondary characters could have been more fully developed to add greater emotional weight to the narrative.
Overall, Empress of Fae offers an enjoyable escape into a magical world but doesn’t quite hit the mark for a truly captivating read. It’s a solid fantasy, but it could benefit from stronger character development and a tighter plot. Fans of light fantasy will likely enjoy it, but it may not leave a lasting impression.

Great continuation in the series. Twists, turns, everything you are looking for in a good book. The world continues to grow and the magic is just superb. Highly recommend if you like King Arthur retellings

To escape a perceived betrayal and the senseless death around her, Morgan takes a leap of faith and flees her new Empire back to Camelot, destroying the way back behind her. Now separated from her mate and thrust into the horror that has become Camelot, she must decide how to best use the power flowing through her.
So well done. This gripping reimagining of Aurthurian legend kept me on the edge of my seat in suspense!

Thanks you NetGalley for the ebook arc. While it was wonderfully written it didn’t really stand out to me, but would recommend to others

*I received this book free via NetGalley*
Unlike its predecessors, Empress of Fae switched points of view many times. Was it needed? Probably, yes. With Morgan and Draven in different parts of the world, it kept what each one was up to in the forefronts of our minds. However, the other ones just added in little bits and pieces of the story that one may want to know, but not entirely need. I honestly am not sure if I liked the formatting.
As for the book itself, Draven works his way to Morgan. She may have run from him, but even she realized that was a mistake, and he knew he needed to be by her side regardless. And the sword? With Draven? Was that a portal?!?! Either way, perfect timing for his arrival. Morgan and Draven apart does not work for me. They need to be together. Because when they are, their chemistry and combined power is off the charts. Thank the Goddess for the dream realm they had.
"Clever, wicked, beautiful woman. Brillant, brave wife." ~Draven has the most endearing thoughts.
Now for the sad part. Arthur. He and his cronies murder so many people. As the pages flip more and more allies fall. His reign is nothing but terror. He was known as The King of Pendrath, the scourge of three kingdoms, and the newest and worst of them all, The Childslayer. But when I learned of the manipulation, I almost felt sorry for him. Almost. As for his General, Fenyx, the depravities of that man know no bounds. He'll get his due!
Just when you think you get a moment to breathe because one king is no longer, the High King of Fae starts his assault on the neighboring kingdoms. Which, by the way, is the cliffhanger ending. Camelot is in ruins, Myntra's forces are divided between two continents, Kaye's future is still unsure, and the new truce with Tintagel and Lyonesse will surely be tested. However, they do have Excalibur and the chalice. How to destroy them is yet to be seen.

I absolutely LOVE this series! It’s had me in a complete and total CHOKEHOLD. Briar Boleyn really knows how to write a romantasy, and I can’t stop!

This story was an interesting story from an author I don’t know or haven’t read before! Will look at finding other things by this author. I am grateful for the early access, thank you to those that allowed it!

3.5 rounded to 4.
Well, enter book three of the Blood of a Fae series and I am pleased to shout out that Morgan has finally been developed, its like she grows in this book. You see her running at the start of the book like a little lost lamb and by the end she's embracing her newly found sense of self. I'm here for it!
I enjoyed this one, but I craved more KD. It had to happen to allow our FMC to grow into her own and I loved the story arc in this one, but I craved our boy and I was eft longing.
I adored Orcades and the end that arc met will have me wondering what's to come. Book 4 now please.

Finally on book three of the Blood of a Fae series and we are plunged us deeper into darkness as Morgan flees to Camelot only to find her brother Arthur has descended into tyranny. With an unwanted companion in guilt-ridden Javier and new enemies emerging from the shadows, Morgan must transform from runaway to spymaster. Unfortunately for her, she is thrust into playing a deadly game of political intrigue to save her kingdom.
Meanwhile, Draven moves heaven and earth to reach his beloved, crossing seas and lands with desperate determination, and also proving once again how much he cares (and also why he's such an immaculate book boyfriend). In this dark, heart-wrenching continuation, Morgan finally matures into the leader she's meant to be and all I have hoped for. And, of course, Briar Boleyn hasn't lost her spark when it comes to shocking twists and brutal choices that have me scared of the last 15% of the book.

I loved that we got multiple narrators in this book! It was so much fun to finally get into Draven’s head. I’d been dying to hear the story from his POV, and I was not disappointed. However, I was a bit disappointed in the separation of Morgan and Draven. It just seems like every romantasy series has to have one book where the MC’s are separated. It wasn’t enough to make me dislike the book, it just felt expected, and in a series where nothing has really felt expected so far, I was slightly disappointed. Other than that, this book keeps up the pace and doesn’t slow a bit. Character relationships, court politics, world building, it all just keeps building to what is sure to be a fantastic climax in book 4. I have to say, I don’t think I have ever disliked a villain in the way that I disliked Fenyx. He’s just so infuriating and gross I wanted to throw the book every time he showed up. To me, that’s the mark of a really well-written villain, especially for one who just showed up at this point in the story. Morgan and Draven’s relationship is absolutely amazing, and I cannot get enough of them! So excited to see how it all comes together in book 4!

Again, another grippy book from this author! I was gripped from page 1 and I still can't see an end to this story. The relationships between the characters are very realistic and it is great to see them develop through the books. I can't wait to read the next installment!

"Empress of Fae" by Briar Boleyn definitely lived up to the hype! This third book in the Blood of a Fae series throws everything you thought you knew about Morgan Pendragon for a loop.
I loved seeing her embrace her true power and navigate the complexities of her heritage. The plot twists kept me on the edge of my seat, and the romance between Morgan and Draven continued to be a captivating force.
The world-building continues to be a highlight, and Boleyn seamlessly blends magic, mythology, and political intrigue. While some of the action sequences might feel a bit repetitive, the overall story is incredibly engaging.
I'm already eagerly anticipating the next book in this series. If you're a fan of strong female characters and epic fantasy romances, I highly recommend diving into the Blood of a Fae series.

The stakes were quite higher in the book. I love reading it so much. This is one of the best Arthurian retelling I've ever read. The emotional rollercoaster this book had me on was overwhelming but I loved every second of it. Last time, YOU GUYS NEED TO READ THIS SERIES.

Thank you NetGalley and Briar Boleyn for the eARC!
I feel very conflicted in my rating for this one. There were things I really enjoyed, and equally things that I really really hated. Some of the material is intense to read and I think it’s something readers should be aware of going into this book. It’s important to me to note for anyone reading this review that there is a massacre of infants included in this book. The author goes on to include a note at the very end of the book to say she felt it was important to include it in this series as in Le Morte Darthur it is written that King Arthur did have infants killed due to a prophecy. Which is how it is reflected in the book as well - a massacre justified by a prophecy. This happens towards the end and I was disappointed to have really enjoyed the majority of the book up until that point where things got pretty dark pretty quickly. Some of the deaths of the most horrid characters ended up being extremely dissatisfying which is a problem I had with the second in this series as well. This happens towards two characters through the story. I will refrain from saying who as to keep my review spoiler free but it just wasn’t satisfying to me. I do plan on continuing in this series, but I’m honestly not sure I would recommend this to other readers. I may, just with the inclusion that there are some very dark aspects to this series.

Empress of Fae" by Briar Boleyn is a spellbinding blend of courtly intrigue and simmering romance. The heroine is clever and fiercely determined, making her impossible not to root for. It’s the sort of book that keeps you up far too late, utterly enchanted.

This was a good third book! It was dark but worked well. I am super excited to see more of what happens with Draven. The Arthurian legend is great.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this arc.

Empress of the Fae finds Morgan’s return to Camelot. She discovers how cruel Arthur has been to her friends and family and the people of the Rose court. She uses this time to spy on him and find a way to finally bring him down. There’s lots of plot twists that will keep you on the edge.
Can’t wait to read the final book in this series to see how it all ends!!
