Thanks to NetGalley for an advanced copy to review.

I devoured this book! My cheeks hurt from smiling while reading it. I didn’t want to stop reading and I didn’t want the story to end.

I adored the characters and was really rooting for Ali, her family and Ethan.

I absolutely loved Nora Goes Off Script and Annabel Monaghan did it again with Summer Romance.
5 ⭐️ for me ❤️

Annabel Monaghan does not disappoint. Yet another killer romance set in Summer that really makes you feel all the feels. I loved the main characters and how their love story really gets Ali out of her slump. Such a feel good romance and written perfectly! Total 5 star fave yet again!

I thought the book was ok. It was just nothing to write home about. It’s just an average read. I wouldn’t read it again or recommend it to anyone.

As a big fan of NORA GOES OFF SCRIPT and SAME TIME NEXT SUMMER, I was thrilled to see the author had a new book coming out.

This was so good I could have re-read it as soon as I finished. Funny, sexy and moving, this summer love after loss (of her mom, her marriage) story has a wonderful balance of chuckles and quiet moments, alike.

The main character is like so many moms, putting on a façade of "Everything's Fine" while managing all the relentless things at home for years. I bet many readers will see a bit of themselves in her, and try some of her reflection and introspection for themselves to positive returns.

Absolutely loved it and will recommend it to any fan of love stories and women's fiction who will listen to me.

(For those who want to know about sex scenes: we know what's happening during intimate moments, but there is no play-by-play detail or graphic language.)

READ THIS BOOK! Totally a 5 star read. This is so much more than a beach read. This is a sweet, fast paced, charming and thought provoking read. Fantastic character development. Issues of divorce and grief are dealt with beautifully. I loved all of the decisions made by the author. Be sure to read the author's acknowledgements at the end too -- really beautiful. Annabel Monaghan is officially an "auto buy" for me going forward. Thank you NetGalley for an early copy of the book -- it was a real pleasure to read.

4.25 stars

I don’t read a lot of romance, so with that caveat I really liked this because it had a lot of strengths. It was easy to empathize with the main character who is going through a divorce. There were cute touches throughout: teaching how to skateboard, career “reorganization" for a professional organizer (get the pun?), parenting a middle schooler. There were also very emotional moments, like healing after the loss of a parent and getting your strength back after a verbally abusive marriage. The author has a deft touch.

Ali is getting divorced and grieving the loss of her mother. Her ex is lousy and only takes the three kids when soccer is involved. Her dog pees on a guy in the dog park, which introduces her to Ethan.

There are a number of strengths of this book, but one thing I felt that was really good is all the time you spend with Ethan and Ali, seeing their dynamic.

Like most rom-coms, there are some convenient coincidences. (She needs a lawyer, and he’s a lawyer, etc.) And how she runs into her best friend’s brother and doesn’t recognize him despite going to high school with him and being best friends with his sister for decades. Really?! Like most rom-coms, it gets eye roll-y in a few places.

A few readers might have a problem that Ali is seeing someone new without being divorced. I was fine with it, but I know it might not hit everyone the same.

All in all, this was a great romance. My few problems with it are more likely due to my problems with the genre than this actual book.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Oh my goodness I could not put this one down. I was rooting for Ali from the beginning (grieving your mom while your marriage falls apart and you have to become a single mother? not easy!) and from the second she meets Ethan I knew they'd have a story that I'd fall in love with.
Ali and Ethan are both complex characters and it was interesting watching them work through their issues and grow together while battling their respective "demons". I loved how much they supported each other (particularly Ethan... every person deserves a partner like Ethan!).
The grief aspect of the book and Ali's relationship with her mom was particularly touching and I loved how nuanced it was and how it changed over time as Ali reflected more on her past relationship.
I can't wait to recommend this book to everyone next summer (if you're reading this now... add to your "TBR" list!) and thank you so much to NetGalley and Putnam for the e-ARC.

Annabel Monaghan is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. This novel is another home run for me…..sweet without being too saccharine, well written but still light, and a beautiful story about new love after divorce. 5/5 stars

Another great read from Monaghan! This is probably my favorite book of hers to date. I loved the characters together and alone. I did find the ending a little lackluster which is why I have it 4/5 stars.

This was an all-around five-star book and will be a perfect summer read.

Ali is a mom of three who is still grieving her mom’s passing when her husband finally asks for a divorce. It formalizes the rut she’s been in for a while - but then she meets a new guy, Ethan, at the dog park and suddenly she’s discovered an new outlook on life that she’d lost. But who is this man, and will this summer romance change her only for the summer?

Despite the predictable plot, there was something so enjoyable about Ali and Ethan - I think it’s because the author does such a great job showing you of the characters thoughts, so even the characters seem to acknowledge when there’s a cheesy or awkward situation.

The supporting characters are also really warm and lovely: Ali’s unabashed friend Frannie, Frannie’s eclectic parents, Ali’s kind father, and of course her three children who added personality and spunk.

I especially loved the theme of the book, and without giving anything else away I certainly cried toward the end. I didn’t want this book to end and could have lived with these characters for so much longer. This book felt like the best type of warm hug.

Absolutely loved this. I wanted to read it again the moment I finished it. The characters are so relatable. And everyone needs an Ethan in their life.

I've loved Annabel Monaghan for easy rom coms and her third novel didn't disappoint- and it felt like it had even more depth to it. Ali is still processing the death of her mother and coming into her own after her divorce throughout the entire novel and it adds such a beautiful, human element. Monaghan remains a must-read author for me. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I absolutely loved this book! I fell in love with Ali and Ethan immediately. I was grinning at my Kindle like an idiot for most of the book so I'm glad I wasn't reading in public because everyone would have thought I was insane.
Ali is a newly single parent still grieving the loss of her mother. Ethan is a lawyer that everyone has underestimated his entire life. The chemistry between them is instant. I laughed (and smiled) and I cried and I wish I could read this for the first time all over again. Annabel Monaghan will definitely be an auto buy author for me. Highly recommend!

Thank you to both #NetGalley and Penguin Group Putnam/G.P. Putnam's Sons for providing me an advance copy of Annabel Monaghan’s latest #romance novel, Summer Romance, in exchange for an honest review.

#SummerRomance touches on deeper subject matter than its title suggests. This is a story about love, heartbreak, and grief. If you’re seeking your typical #beachread, this is not it. I don’t feel I can fairly rate this novel since I was expecting it to be similar to the author’s two prior releases and it is not.

The novel is worth the read for those struggling with the loss of a loved one or undergoing a tough divorce.

I just finished Summer Romance by Annabel Monaghan, but I wish I could continue to stay in the town of Beechwood with the novel's characters a bit longer.

We meet the main character, Ali Morris, as she competently organizes other people's messes, but is unable to clear her own. Her lackluster marriage is ending and she is still grieving for her mother who died two years before. Fairly early in the book, she has a meet cute with a man who is a genuine good guy. He may be the catalyst for changes in her life, but she is the "architect of her own life", and observing her burgeoning romance and the steps she takes to get her act together is lots of fun for the reader.

I loved this book because characters were well developed, the romance was swoonworthy. Most of the book centered around the positive changes she makes for herself and others in her life, rather than chapter upon chapter of main character screwups.

There is plenty of humor in the banter of the romance and the thoughts in Ali's head. Funny, wise, and full of heart, I enjoyed every minute reading this book.

Ali is just starting to feel like herself again following the death of her mother and a separation in her marriage. She’s a professional organizer whose own life is quite disorganized and messy. Things start to turn around for Ali when she meets a handsome stranger at the dog park and she realizes maybe she is ready for a summer romance.

This is just the sweet, cozy, heartwarming story I hoped for from Annabel Monaghan. I also adore her two other adult romcoms, because like this one, she manages to blend serious but relatable topics with humor and romance. The book addresses grief, loss, and divorce in a sensitive and caring way that doesn’t feel heavy. Ali and Ethan are likable characters who are easy to root for. This book is perfect for those who enjoy closed door romance, a single parent finding love, and a lovable cast of characters.

Thank you to Annabel Monaghan, Putnam books, and Netgalley for the arc in exchange for my honest review.

If you are looking for a book with a swoony relationship with out extensive spice, this is the book for you. This book follows Ali who is going through a divorce after being separated for a year and losing her mother the year before that. Did I mention he asked for the divorce on the one year anniversary of her mothers passing..... what a jerk! Any who, Ali decided to wear hard pants for the first time in over a year (AKA not sweatpants) and takes her dog to the park where he pees on a smokin hottie playing with his own dog. The twists and turns in the book were excellent. I also loved that BOTH Ali and Ethan had a journey of healing and self refection. I laughed, I giggled, I teared up, and got mad all while reading this story! This was my first book by Annabel Mohaghan and I was not disappointed!

This will be the book of the summer in 2024!! Each book by Annabel Monaghan is better and better, I think this is her best one yet! I feel like her stories really shine because they are different from typical romance novels and always have a focus on family and character development.

Summer Romance is a novel about personal growth and relationship with grief. We see the main character grow from someone who just accepts when people treat her badly and just lives day to day to realizing her own desires and going after them in her career and relationship.

I loved her relationship with Scooter and how he helped her navigate her divorce, grief, and balancing a new relationship while being a single mom. Will definitely be recommending this book this upcoming summer!
