Ruby, a lawyer from Sydney, Australia, finds herself in Vegas for a conference where she confides in Luis after being passed over for a promotion. A night of fun and laughter leads to shock when Ruby wakes up married to Luis. They strike a deal to help each other: Ruby gains confidence at work while Luis investigates his sudden pressure to marry. The catch? They must pretend to be in love but not fall for each other during their Christmas trip to Switzerland. Despite their agreement, their romance blossoms with emotion, wit, and romance against the backdrop of a gorgeous setting. Michelle Douglas crafts a captivating story with fabulous characters, leaving readers eagerly turning pages and reluctant for the journey to end.
What a perfect escape for the holidays. Ruby’s life isn’t quite going how she thinks it should, especially at work, and so she acts a bit impulsively with her new friend, Luis, while in Vegas. Maybe too much fun was had as they wake up next to each other and married! Deciding their new relationship was had a way to improve both their lives (hers at work and with her parents and cousin and his with his divorced parents), Ruby accompanies Luis back to his home in Switzerland. I loved the interactions with Luis’ parents as reacted to Luis and Ruby’s new relationship status. Things always have a way of working themselves out even when you think you want something else. I thoroughly enjoyed the holiday escape trip to Switzerland and know you will as well.
One wild trip to Vegas...
Leads Ruby and Luis to wake up married after a super steamy night of passion.
I enjoyed these two. Their reactions felt more real (except her awful cousin) than most waking up married in Vegas couples. They definitely get the physical part down. Their reasons to stay wed are a bit immature, very new adulting.
Recommend.
Waking Up Married to the Billionaire by Michelle Douglas takes the reader on a magical visit to Switzerland at Christmas time with a castle (even if it isn’t fortified), following Ruby and Luis, and their journey toward love. Ruby and Luis enjoyed a fun week getting to know each other while they were in Las Vegas, until Ruby didn't receive the promotion she earned. Luis helped her drown her sorrows, and they are shocked when they wake up to discover they are married. After assessing the predicament they are in, they realize that maybe they can make this work to their advantage. Ruby has something to prove, and Luis's mother has been determined to see him married for reasons she won't share. So he will give his mother her wish; bring home the worse wife possible. Ruby is far from the spoiled gold-digger who has Luis wrapped around her little finger, but she successfully pulls off the role, making this a truly hilarious read. It's even funnier when Luis's mother loves her anyway, making Ruby and Luis work harder to uncover her secret. Also, Ruby comes to some realizations about herself and her own family, bringing some deeper, heartfelt moments into this glorious Christmas story.
This romance has everything that a romance should have: fabulous characters, a gorgeous setting, filled with emotion, fun, witty and quite romantic, I loved Luis and Ruby so much; both of them are caring and loving people, who were vulnerable, and met at the perfect time. I highly recommend Waking Up Married to the Billionaire to other readers.

Thank you NetGalley and Harlequin for providing me with a copy of "Waking Up Married to the Billionaire" by the Michelle Douglas.
This short story effortlessly puts together elements of a classic hallmark movie with the Cinderella twist. Very well written, it held my attention from start to finish. While it may not have revolutionized my existence, it undeniably provided an entertaining and enjoyable experience.
