I love Kimberly McCreight’s writing and storytelling. The complicated mother-daughter relationships that weave throughout her mysteries are so enthralling. 10/10 plot for this one though!

This book is nothing like Reconstructing Amelia, which is a 5 star book. Too many characters to keep track of and the amount of texting, journaling, interviews and documents added unnecessary pages to the story. It would have been a better story if told from the beginning of the mother's time at the home. That part of the story would have leant some drama and appropriate background to the story line.

Like Mother, Like Daughter is a very interesting story that comes full circle in the end. There is a great representation of life between teenage / YA women and their mothers especially if they are similar in nature.

There was a great mix of characters. Some were likable others were not, some were a bit shocking and others not so much. I was really not a huge fan of Cleo through the majority of the story, but I have to give her credit for a bunch of character growth. I also loved McCreight’s use of a strained relationship between a mother and daughter; I think that will hit home for a lot of women.

This is a steady to fast paced with multiple twists that had my head spinning. I did not see that ending coming but I absolutely love where McCreight went with the story. I was pretty shocked when I finished this one. I think that people will really enjoy the ending.

Overall, I really enjoyed this one and this is one I would recommend to my thriller friends. Huge thank you to NetGalley, Kimberly McCreight and Knopf for the eARC in exchange for my honest review.

Another good one from Kimberly McCreight. This had alternating narrators and timelines and kept me on my toes. I did suspect the “bad guy” fairly early on, but didn’t know the actual “big reveal.” Was. Lots of tension and suspense that kept me turning pages!

this was goooooood y’all, I could not put it down. I think this is my third book by McCreight and probably my second favorite? I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve read by her though. I always appreciate when a thriller can do something different since it’s such an oversaturated genre and this definitely felt more unique. it was a pretty good twist that I didn’t start to suspect until like 75% through. towards the end everything started to feel a bit too farfetched and there were so many plot points/loose threads that started to feel too all over the place, but overall this was a solid thriller that I definitely recommend! thanks to @netgalley for the gifted digital copy stars ✨

Thank you NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to review "Like Mother, Like Daughter." I found this book to be so-so. Not terrible, but not the greatest. I didn't feel as drawn into the story as other thriller novels. That is not to say that I wouldn't recommend it to people who like this genre. It has a well made plot, with multiple story lines that keep you wondering what happened? A decent thriller.

Thank you NetGalley for access to this book! It was a quick read and something I would highly recommend for a book club pick. It was a little predictable at times, but I still found myself unable to put it down. It is a low stress, easy to read style book that makes for the perfect suspenseful distraction from life.

Cleo is a student at NYU, and struggling through a strained relationship with her mother Kat. Kat wants what’s best for Cleo, and the only reason for her fight with Cleo is due to Cleo’s bad relationship choices in men. Kat invites Cleo to dinner in hopes of mending their relationship, but when Cleo gets to the house, there is food burning on the stove, Kat is nowhere to be found, and there’s a bloody shoe in her office. Cleo is confused, which increases when her dad shows up and is acting really weird. Cleo also noticed her father’s clothes are no longer in her parent’s bedroom. Kat has been lying, she’s not just a lawyer she’s a fixer for her firm working on a serious case. Growing up in a dangerous group home, Kat has left that part of her life a secret from Cleo. Kat has a lot of secrets and one of those is what really happened at that group home. Not only that hasn’t told Cleo that her marriage has essentially fallen apart, but not that she’s missing some of those secrets may come out. Cleo will stop at nothing to find her mother and uncover what is really going on between her parents and her mothers disappearance,

Thank you Knopf for this ARC

This story is so engaging and kept my attention riveted the entire time. The pacing is smooth, not slowing in its momentum or steadily building tension. The plot is intelligent and complex, while still being understandable, and is clever in its execution and planning. The characters are also interesting and fully fleshed out with intriguing histories.

When she finds her mother missing, Cleo starts to investigate. What she finds out, will change everything she thought she knew about her family. A great suspenseful family drama story.

This book was a fantastic read. It was faced paced and kept me guessing until the last reveal. I found the characters to be a great mix of likable and untrustworthy. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a good thriller.

This book took you on a journey. It definitely kept my attention throughout. However, you really need a character map for all the names listed. I had a very hard time figuring out who was who. It's told in multiple POVs and had transcripts, and news articles, etc... through the entire story. I liked the main characters and they definitely had some growth which I enjoyed. I wouldn't really say it was suspenseful, perhaps more of a mystery. Unfortunately, the ending was a real letdown. It felt like it was leading up to something so big and then it just fell flat and I feel like I have so many more questions. But, I did enjoy the writing and this was my first book by the author. I do plan to read some of her other ones.

This one had potential but it felt short for me. I didn't love it. It wasn't bad but not memorable either. I did enjoy certain story lines and it did keep me guessing.

I enjoyed this story overall.

I felt like there was a lot going on in the book, and although I enjoyed it, there were some parts and characters that I felt weren't entirely necessary.

I was not able to entirely predict the plot in this one, which is always a bonus for me, but I don't know if that had to do with how many red herrings there were.

Overall, it was a fine read.

Kimberly McCreight is a master storyteller in regards to writing about family dynamics and mother/daughter relationships. Like Mother, Like Daughter is no exception. Readers are invited into both women's worlds in order to untangle the secrets both generations are keeping from each other. This novel is a wonderful suspenseful journey where you can not fully trust any of the characters.

Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin Random House for the chance to read this book.
